FOXNEWSW The Story With Martha MacCallum October 11, 2017

Results of that, in many cases, the media hates to report. Of the economy cannot take off like they should unless we transform americas outdated, complex, and extremely burdensome tax code. You will do your tax on a single piece of paper. H r block will not like donald trump very much. Our plan goes from eight tax brackets down to four, expands the child tax credit, repeals the estate tax, and a special interest tax spreads. Cuts the Corporate Tax rate and cuts tax rates for Small Businesses to the lowest level in more than 80 years. Martha here now, brit hume brit hume. Good evening, good to see you. Your reaction to the speech tonight. What may be most important about the speech, martha, is that he is doing now on this measure what he never really did on obamacare repeal. He is getting out, talking about specifics within it, hes making an earnest effort to sell it to people. Its not that easy with tax cuts to do that. He made a stab at it today. You heard him talking about the various tax measures that would benefit middleclass people and he talked about the reduction of brackets and so on. All those things have appeal to middleclass voters. The problem, politically always come out with when youre cutting tax rates is that its a mathematical fact that the more you pay, the more you gain from a tax cut. We live in a country where what 70 of the tax cuts are paid by 10 of the people. This opens the avenue for the perennial democratic criticism that its a tax cuts for the rich. He will have to fight that the whole way. He made a start on it tonight. Martha there are things like removing the state and local Tax Deductions from your federal income taxes that would work against that and work in favor of the argument that the rich would not benefit from this. We will see what happens with all of that. Hes got a battle to won within his own party. They spurned him on health care and they are already making rumblings that they could do it again on tax reform. Thats why try to go out in the country and build up a head of steam about this from the people. Its not easily done, but reagan was certainly able to do and other present didnt have as well. The president has a chance to do that here. It puts pressure on wavering republicans in a situation like this. The last big tax reform was passed in 1986. It ended up with bipartisan resort. Thats not impossible here, but the atmosphere is much more poisonous and divided then it was then. The point being here that this is a measure that can be solved. It will take some work, but it can be done. Martha to this idea that republicans find themselves in this position having won the white house im of the senate, and the house, that they are having difficulty getting things passed. This sort of underlying distaste for this president among so many in the establishment. A steve bannon would even arguen the white house. Victor davis hanson wrote about this phenomenon today and he talked about the fact that the republican establishment lamented that the reagan democrats and the Tea Party Folks didnt stick with the party when john mccain ran and mitt romney ran. He ended by saying this, now they are either worried or ashamed that the same swing voters came out in droves. Unless the Republican Party is in a dominant position at local, state, and federal levels not seen since the 1920s. Speak to that, britt. Did we lose him . We lost a break. We want to bring in another fan. I mentioned steve bannon. Did we get brit back . Brit, can you hear me . Speak up martha, you think washington and new york would be able to communicate. Martha you are only in washington. I dont know how much you heard of the Victor Davis Hanson quote. I heard and saw the whole thing. I just want to say this about i it. The idea that it is a republican establishment is of the problem with the fact that these measures that the president have been proposing have not passed seems to me to be ignoring the facts. You have this razorthin majority in the senate where one or two senators can completely unscramble your majority and can send bills down to defeat. Youve got people like rand paul whose positions on these matters have been particularly on obama here particularly incoherent. What would you do in a situation like that . The idea that they didnt work as hard as i could to do the undoing of obamacare is not. Thats what happen. What the Republican Party badly needs now is the unity and they have no reason not to stand with mr. Trump on these measures because basically hes adopted their agenda. Martha couldnt have sent it better myself. Brit, thank you very much. Good to see you tonight. Steve bannon, who just spoke about a moment ago said hes taking aim at these Establishment Republicans in a move that Newt Gingrich says is a fools errand. Do you agree . Creating a civil war inside the party may feel good, but i think, as a strategy, its stunningly stupid. Im just being really honest. Martha david bossie who served as a trump 2015 Deputy Campaign manager. Good to have you here. He says that what your friend and colleague steve bannon is suggesting is stunningly stupid. What do you say . Ive had the distinct honor of working with both of them. Speaker gingrich and steve bannon. I understand where they both are coming from, and i understand what they are saying. Steve bannon, having worked inside the white house, understands better than anyone what the Republican Leadership in the house and senate have done and really havent done, have failed to do or this president. They got elected into the majorities in 2010 and 2016. In order to bring change to washington. After both of those instances, the republicans were told, the base were told, just wait until we win the white house and we will get things done. Almost one year into the president s term, we have seen very little legislatively. If the president wasnt taken initiative on his own martha as you just heard brit say though, it came down to two or three people in each of these cases. You talk about Graham Cassidy and the original skinny bill on health care. Why go after . Lets put up the list of people running in 2018. This is on the g. O. P. Side and a steve bannon says theyre coming after every one of these peoples except for ted cruz, who actually did not vote in favor of Graham Cassidy. Go figure on that. Do all these people deserve to be gone after when they voted along with the president . First of all, my organization has been involved in republican primaries for a lot of years. We want to make sure that the change agents are those in washington. The broken status quo has been in charge of this town and in charge of american politics for a lot of years. My position is that there are some inside the Republican Party that need to be primary. It is a healthy thing. I am for term limits. This is one of the ways primaries are a way to term limit people. He let the voters decide. Finding candidates, good conservatives like Marsha Blackburn and tennessee. Like josh harley and missouri. Echo state after state around the country and theres going to be great people at some of those like ted cruz and others who i think were going to find support for. Martha there is a word today in a report that says that Steve Bannons a litmus test, and i know youre working on recruiting some of these candidates and organizing them, is that they will promise to vote to oust Mitch Mcconnell. Is that true . I think it is for steve. I think hes made that abundantly clear that he believes the greatest impediment to President Trumps agenda is Mitch Mcconnell. I think that there is a debate about that, but i think steve has a very strong position, coming out of the white house, seeing it firsthand. I understand that not every incumbent needs a challenger. I know some of them have done a fine job. But what steves saying is, theres a message to be sent. Martha, we are going to find and tax reform here that if people are listening to that call of primary opponents potentially coming forward against them, maybe there will be more supportive of the president. Thats the message being sent. Martha some might look a steve bannon situation and say he obviously didnt get along with some people in the white house and felt like they were openly against the president s agenda and thats his opinion. That was his experience. Now that hes on the outside that he wants to sort of pare down the house, regardless of the fact that with a couple of people brought over, it is possible to pass some of this legislation. As a brit just said, paul ryan and Mitch Mcconnell appear to have worked extremely hard to get these things through. Do you think they wanted to show up at that microphone with a long face and say we bullet again . Lets go back by the way, im not here as a spokesman for steve but since youre asking me these questions, i will say that the president s response to Mitch Mcconnells comment is six or seven weeks ago about the president having High Expectations coming in, that is a really thats the nub of it. For seven years, republicans have been saying we had to repeal obamacare. Martha at some level, people very much relate to that and they dont want to hear that they want to be patient anymore. They dont want to hear that. From a practical sense, thats what it is. I got to go. Practical i hear you. Always good to see you. Still ahead tonight, President Trump takes on nbc. That was just fake news by nbc, which gives a lot of fake news lately. Martha big story out of there today that the president takes issue with big time, and it follows on the heels of secretary tillersons comments about him being a moron and all being stirred up over that. Help protect yourself against pneumococcal pneumonia. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about prevnar 13®. No, i never discussed increasing it. That was just fake news by nbc. That gives a lot of fake news lately. Martha President Trump taking another shot at nbc today, denying their socalled bombshell report that claims the president suggested dramatically increasing the nation supply of Nuclear Weapons during a july meeting with the Top National Security leaders. The headline this morning was trump wanted ten fold increase in military arsenals apprising military. Ed henry joins us now. Not a surprise to see the president lashing out. Whats new about this episode is the extraordinary assist hes getting from james mattis and shooting down the reporting. The president so incensed today about that report, bruising over the First Amendment to use the federal governments power to use strip nbc of its broadcast lies and after they claim its a earthly report that secretary state Rex Tillerson had called the president a moron, came because the president allegedly used a big meeting the summer at the pentagon to push a massive increase, as you noted, in americas Nuclear Weapons stockpile. One big problem with this claim seems to be off the mark. President tweeting, fake at nbc news made up a story that i wanted a tenfold increase in our u. S. Nuclear arsenal. Diction made up to demean nbc equal cnn. He added, with all the fake news coming out of the network, at what point is it to challenge their license . Bad for country. He said it was secretary mattis among others who said it could be trusted to pull the president back from chaos. He is now backing the president over nbc, declaring recent reports of the president called for an increase in the u. S. Are civil its a false this kind of erroneous reporting is irresponsible. The president following up with his own comments, watch. Its frankly disgusting the way the press is able to write whatever they want to write. People should look into it. I want to have absolutely perfectly maintained, which we are in the process of doing, nuclear force, but when they said i want ten times what we have right now, its totally unnecessary. Believe me. Even cnn, another frequent target of this president , seems to be backing up the commanderinchief reporting today that three sources this talk about increasing the Nuclear Arsenal never came up at the pentagon meeting. Martha thank you very much. Laura ingraham here now host of the ingram angle that debuts here on october 30th at 10 00 p. M. Good evening. Good to see you tonight. Good to see you. Martha told me about your reaction to this story. You wonder whats going on in that room. Obviously there someone in that room that reported this to someone at nbc. Their interpretation of what he discussed and said was different. Three and a half months later. Isnt that kind of funny . On the heels of the bob corker story where he goes to the New York Times and says, basically the trump is bringing it up to the brink of world war iii. Thats the puzzle. It fits as a perfect corollary to the old establishment g. O. P. Senator calling into question the judgment and the poise and the knowledge of donald trump. Its like clockwork. This is a hit job. It was done to amplify corker and again plant seeds in the mind of the American Public that we have a president whos not really tethered to reality, that doesnt really know whats going on. Martha, let me just say that i know for a fact that when donald trump goes into meetings on the issues, that i care about trade and immigration especially, he is brutal and questioning everyone in that meeting, whether its the trade of rap or the commerce secretary or everybody in between. Hes engaged, he asked questions and sometimes he has questions that i certainly wouldnt know the answer to them people that are new to politics what it know the answer to. There is nothing wrong with that. He wants us to be the strongest, most bats and powerful nation on the face of the earth on all levels. He says he didnt say it. He says he wants us to be the strongest and the biggest. I think a lot of journalists hear that and are horrified. How could donald trump ask any questions about that . Theyre always going to paint it in the worst possible light. This is more washington intrigue. I dont think most americans are paying much attention to it. Martha when you talk about the barricades on your book, these are exactly the kind of things. You and i know that this is not going to change because theres only going to be someone in that room, whether its the highest level National Security meeting that will walk out of the room and say that he didnt get it. That he wasnt up to speed. There still that bit of fear in peoples minds that says hes not up to the job. On top of doing the job, hes got it constantly battled at 92 negative story rate in the press. Its another heavy weight to bear. You hit the nail on the head. The leaks that have plagued this Administration Even before he was inaugurated continue to plague him now. Theyve done a better job at plugging them. As president , you should feel like to be able to go into a meeting like this and be frank and ask questions. Apparently he cant trust the people in the room. Martha were you a girl scout . I was a bluebird which i dont think exist anymore. Martha i was a brownie. I lasted for two years. The funny thing about what you think about the fact about the boy scouts are not the boy scouts anymore apparently . Everybody is allowed into certain activities, i guess. Its political correctness. Its another reason why trump won. I think people are tired than this. Boys should be able to have a boys club. Girl should be able to have a girls club. If they want to have a club where they are doing activities together, thats fine too. This is more madness. Most parents are tired of it. Its a very small, radical group of gender bender is out there in the culture who want to say there is no difference between a
