Cuts despite a lin hemming and hawing are still looking good. But so many details to iron out and fast and peter doocy has more. We just got word from Mitch Mcconnell that he wants there to be a twoweek long budget to keep the government open. As of right now, they have enough cash to keep the lights on until friday. Theres a fight and how long it should be extended. Leadership wants to go till the 22nd. Three days before christmas. Pass a longer term budget so people can head home for a few weeks and celebrate the holidays. Conservatives want people to come back after christmas with a budget that would go till the end of the year. Usually we load up the Christmas Tree with democrat votes. We want to avoid that. That will help us. This is intertwined with the tax reform effort because some conservatives from the House Freedom caucus withheld support about this spending dilemma. It was a big surprise that they did that. Now democrats in the senate say it could be avoided if theyre given a seat at the table. We hope the Republican Leadership can avert more of this unnecessary hostage taking like we saw in the house floor last night which can only impede the serious ongoing bipartisan negotiations. Schumer is telling his republican colleagues in the senate, its not too late to vote no on a motion to go to a conference that would take the Senate Tax Bill and the house tax bill and streamline them so theres one thing that they can pass together and the president can sign. The majority leader mcconnell insists a conference vote is coming. He says its going to happen later on this week and theres a lot of good feelings among republicans that theyre going to get this done by the end of the year, neil. Neil incredible. Theyre breaking pace here. Thanks, peter doocy. The house is not having any of this notion that theyll just rubber stamp whatever the senate came up. Andy bigs with us right now. Thanks for being here. Good to be with you. You and your colleagues are sudden about this issue in the senate to get it passed. I can understand why they did it. You are not happy that they did and you want to remove it. Where does that stand . Since weve gone to committee, were trying to continue our push to get that back the way the house had it, which was to eliminate the amt the corporate side and the individual side. The senate side kept it in because they wanted to fund some additional spending here or there through the tax bill. So you know, within committee, we made our wishes known. Were told well have fierce advocates in the committee. Neil and that means no votes if it doesnt go your way. Im not sure that we get there yet, but i think that people will take a hard look at the whole package once its done. I know that they better not give it to us on a thursday night and say were voting at 9 00 friday morning. Neil the atm has an issue of the debt, right . Amt. Im sorry. So yes. Neil you might have to go to an atm to pay for it. Do you have any sense the way things are going that a rise in the Corporate Tax the senate is prisoner to these deals that require everything to balance out at least on paper over ten years. The idea that they have kicked around, the president in fact raised, is going slightly higher in the corporate rate, maybe 21, 22 so issues like these go away. What do you think of that . Im not a big fan of it, but ive talked to corporations not corporations but their representatives. They think they could live with 21, 22 . But we need to do that immediately. Not the oneyear delay that the senate is talking about. Well be denied the benefit of that substantial Corporate Tax reduction. So we can kick that around, but they need to do this immediately and not pro tract this and say lets kick this down the road a year. We have to get the benefit immediately so the continue will continue to grow. Neil what did you think of your arizona senator, jeff flake, who has had runins with the president sitting next to the president among half dozen senators that had a powwow with him . Politics made strange bed fellows. Looks like theyve have maybe theyre getting over their differences. That would be great. What is the readback in arizona with the back and forth between these two . Flake and john mccain were both yes votes on the tax deal. Are bygones bygones or what . In arizona, people are saying lets support President Trump. Ill speak for my district. My district supports. Trump. They want to get this tax reform package done. They want to see reduced spending. They want to see us enact the trump agenda. Were getting some of it. This will be a big win for the state. I think everybody in our delegation both the senate and the house, we want something positive done for the american people. John conyers as you heard today, congressman, is going to be stepping down. A lot of issues, whether its his son or someone else that moves up. Does that put pressure on republicans to tell any controversies in their bunch, including roy moore, that he should go as soon as he does . I dont know that it puts any pressure on any one party. It says, you know, you have to face up to the facts of what the allegatio allegations, if theyre proven. We have to protect victims. Thats what weve seen here. You have a member of our body who is not a harassment charge but he said look, i was inappropriate. Im going to announce my retirement. So were seeing that happen. What youll see every day, i think, is more and more of these allegations come out. I hope were all learning a valuable lesson. These are very serious things. We need to take care of them appropriately. Neil real quickly back to the fact that youre optimistic this can be signed and sealed by christmas . I actually am. I am optimistic about that. Neil all right. Very good seeing you again, congressman. Thanks, neil. Neil all right. You know, republicans are happy about that. Nancy pelosi not so much. She says if republicans get their way, you know what will happen . Armageddon. Hi im joan lunden. And theres never been an easier way to get great advice. A place for mom is a free service that pairs you with a local advisor to help you sort through your options and find a perfect place. A place for mom. You know your family we know Senior Living. Together well make the right choice. Right in the heart of the was in his financial crisis, and saw his portfolio drop by double digits. It really scared him out of the markets. His advisor ran the numbers and showed that he wouldnt be able to retire until he was 68. The client realized, i need to get back into the markets i need to get back on track with my plan. The Financial Advisor was able to work with this client. Hes now on track to retire when hes 65. Having someone coach you through it is really the value of a Financial Advisor. Neil republicans might be smiling about the tax cuts coming. Nancy pelosi not so much. Can you say disaster . Take a look. All right. I know what youre thinking, neil. Youre using that as an excuse to some of our 20th century fox disaster movies. Nancy pelosi spelled it out. Heres her words. This is armageddon. This is a very big deal. They take us further, more deeply into debt. What can you do but raise taxes . And sink ships and destroy cities. Whole streets. You see any flooding going on now . All right. We have democrat strategist robin here, and allie. Allie, her point is, get ready. Its going to be a disaster. What do you think . Yes, it is. Well, i say if americans keep more money in their pocket is armageddon, maybe its time for the world to end. Nancy pelosi is unhinged. Weve known that for a while now. Weve seen this rhetoric from other people on the left saying this is going to be the end of america as we know it and two, people are going to die. Theres problems with those statements. One, this is not the end of america as we know it. America wasnt built on high Corporate Tax forcing people to have health insurance. People are not going to die because taxes dont keep people alive. The government doesnt keep people alive. Its hard to keep legitimate complaints from the left when this hyperbolic rhetoric is their motivation. Neil i know hyperbolic rhetoric is not just assigned to democrats. I heard a lot about healthcare. They think this is justified. But brie, is there a sense that that will resonate, this fear that democrats have perpetuated, not only are you not going to get as big a tax cut as you wanted, youre going to get chump change compared to the rich and its not true. Weve done comparisons. It is what it is. Thats the perception people have and its a bad armageddon movie, not that we ever made a bad armageddon movie but the fear is out there. I kind of agree with nancy pelosi, that we are i think the taxes do perpetuate the fiscal armageddon that we find ourselves in the we dont fix our spending problem. This tax plan does add over a trillion dollars to the deficit. It does not pay for herself. So i kind of like seeing nancy pelosi act like a budget hawk. Its funny. I get a big kick out of it. But the fact of the matter is, at the end of the day shes lying and they are lying about this being the end of the world in the sense that, you know, acting like people getting a tax cut is this horrible thing for them. Thats just a flatout lie. Theyre doubling individual deductions that people just get off the bat. So its very clear. And in every tax bracket, individuals are getting a tax break, right . So a lot of these are lies neil so you got to go hyperventilate on this. Some of these disaster movies. The one good thing, they breed other disaster movies. Thank god we as a company have cornered the marked on them. Im looking at this and thinking back and forth what will happen versus what wont happen. I think theres is quite correct the point out that there was an obsession about how we pay for these tax cuts and the revenues that might not work out. Nobody said boo about the nine trillion in Additional Debt spending that will accumulate over the same period of time. As if that didnt matter. What do you make of that . Right now, the deficit is in 20 trillion. Neil the debt. Yes. This adds 1. 4 trillion. So the logic here by the gop here is what is a couple more neil i understand what youre saying, both sides play this game. Isnt it a tad disingenuous to worry about the 1. 4 trillion in tax cut revenue and not is a boo about the 9 trillion in spending that brings us deeper in a hole . Were focused on 1 10 of the pie here. I see pies and see the big one and want to eat it. I understand your point, neil. That is a valid concern. The argument that they make though is by taking out more money for this deficit that its going to somehow pay for itself. Thats kind of like me going to the bank and saying, if i take out this big loan, dont worry about it. Neil did you say that, robin, when everybody was spending like a drunken sailor . I dont know. I appreciate the gop fiscal hawks like rand paul and corker. Im glad to see as brie mentioned nancy pelosi stepping up and neil you raise a good point. You touched on it. Im a little frustrated with both parties for not getting serious about this. Americans deserve tax cuts. I dont know if this is the answer. I dont know if this is the elixir. I do know that they didnt take an opportunity of a moment where they could have reigned in the growth of spending. Thats all were talking about. Could you reign in the growth of it. Yes. Absolutely. Neil allie first. Absolutely. I think you make a good point. Rob said that nancy pelosi is stepping up to the plate. I dont know if that is true, if shes being genuine in this. I think shes looking for a reason to slander the republican plan. I dont think she cares about spending at all. I agree with her we should reign in the spending and i agree with you. But to say were adding to the deficit, when have democrats worry about the deficit . They love spending. If thats the only complaint she has, i cant take it to heart. Neil well watch it closely. The next stop is doing something on spending. They have a couple week temporary measure to get us through the hump year before the holidays. Its a sad commentary if thats where we are. Thank you all on this very busy breaking news hour. All of these antitrump messages and we only discover late in the action that the guy that is writing them, well, harbored pretty ill views of the United States, not so ill views of the former first lady of the United States. Eras. Theyre defined by accomplishments. By victories. By those with the resourcefulness, the ingenuity, and the grit to help ensure the next energy to power our dreams, will be american energy. Hows it going down there . Thats good. Lica misses you. Im over it though. laughter thats fine. I miss her more than you anyway. Hey, my window is closing. Yeah thats okay. Alright miles. I love you. phone hangs up yeah i love you too. Neil all right. No agenda . That seems to be what were getting from Robert Mueller and this entire investigation. Troubling revelations for his special counsel and those issues are not dying on the vine. Catherine herridge has more. Hey, catherine. Thanks, neil. This breaking just within the last few hours. A top prosecutor who now works for special council Robert Muellers russian probe praised sally yates after she was fired by President Trump for refusing to defend his controversial travel ban. A lawsuit shows on the night of january 30th, Andrew Weissman wrote to yates the disclosure follows confirmation this week that another mueller investigator, fbi official peter strook was fired for sending antitrump texts. Its not good for the fbi that holds itself up that theres no political motivation and we follow the facts. Thats not the case. The fbi is human beings. Of course it happening. The same fbi agent, peter strook changed comeys draft and clintons emails and her use of an insecured server for government business. He changed the wording from grossly negligent to extremely careless. Gross negligence is part of the statue and its important to know that strook was also part of clintons fbi interview in july of 2016. According to these fbi summaries that were released earlier this year. Robert mueller fired strook because of these allegations against him, neil. Neil thanks, katherine. Youre welcome. Neil we go to the case of the media caught in a bad place on stories pushing on the president. This time it involves the wall street journal that still stands by reports that they are looking in or authorities are looking into the president s banking regards, particularly with Deutsche Bank. Mary, update me on this. Everyone connected to the Administration Says this is not going on. Deutsche bank took the unusual measure of denying this had even happened. Where does this stand . Thats a news side report, not from the editorial page. I have to take the white house at its word that they have not received the documents. Hopefully well get updates in the coming hours. Neil so the argument was that i remember last summer, if im right, mary, there was talk about the president being examined and all his transactions. Even while long before he became president or a candidate for president. He had a number of activities and financings through Deutsche Bank on a lot of project in manhattan and elsewhere. And that it died down. The president at the time had expressed concern that that might be a case of overreach. If it proves true, that this is what is going on, help connect the dots for me. What are they looking for . The Mueller Investigation was a very vaguely worded mandate. So while the original intent was supposedly to investigate socalled collusion between the Trump Campaign and russia, we now know the special counsel has taken that as a writ to delve into trumps business practices, Deutsche Bank connections, possibly other links that he might have had to russia. Neil, you have to keep this in context here. The point of this whole kerfuffle was to say or to somehow imply that the election was rigged and trumps collusion is why Hillary Clinton lost. I think thats ridiculous. To date, Robert Mueller has provided no evidence that that is the case. Neil its still early on as smart folks like you remind me. They spend 7 million on the investigation, which im told is chump change in the scheme of things for investigations that cost tens of millions more. So where are we in this, you think . We just ran a big editorial on Robert Muellers credibility problems. Theres a lot of questions still about the treatment of Hillary Clinton and her aides, who by the way lied to the fbi and were not prosecuted for that. Theres questions about how the fbi treated Michael Flynn, who they originally thought had forgotten his conversation, made a genuine mistake when he was interviewed with the fbi and he was subsequently pursued. Theres questions about why the fbi and the doj are withholding documents from some of the congressional investigators trying to investigate how the fbi treated the socalled steele dossier. Theres questions about the court order that was given that allowed the fbi or other intelligence agencies to listen in on the russian ambassador. Theres questions about how Michael Flynns name was leaked. So neil, a lot of questions here and not a lot of answers. Im personally hoping that the congressional investigators can get the documents that they need from the fbi and the doj to lay this out in public and give the American Public the full story that they deserve. One lawyer i talked to on fbn, its a fishing expedition and this goes to the powers that we grant special prosecutors in these cases to go anywhere and takes them anywhere they want to go. Hence the dustup over what is going on with possible examinations of the president s financial records. That we dont know. Its too early. What is your general sen
