Signed by this president. With all the pageantry, its not been signed by the president so its not quite a done deal. Kevin corke, when will it be . Not quite. Youre right. Probably sometime next week, my friend. Either way, whether it happens next were, down in floor, maybe he tries to wrap it up this year because if you dont, another of things that cascade and push back some other parts of entitlements. The fact is probably mid next week after this thing is enrolled on the hill and reviewed by the white house, he will sign this thing and ultimately we can all say yes, indeed, neil, this was a historic day at the white house. Not just for lawmakers but for the president himself making good on a promise to overall the nations tax code. Todays ceremony was heavy frankly on a simple theme. One you and i talked about on several occasions. Promises made, promises kept. We did the largest tax cut in our history. I hate to say this, but we essentially repealed obamacare because we got rid of the individual mandate, which was terrible. The whole country, the world, they tried with ronald reagan, they tried with the bushes, they tried with everybody. They never got anwar. But we got anwar in this bill. Now for those, neil, that were busy tied up with other things today, you may have missed the event or maybe you saw it but werent listening, a couple moments that i thought were poignant. The president s shout out to Steve Scalise and also the incredibly powerful words of utah senator orrin hatch. Were going to make this the greatest presidency weve seen not only in generations but maybe ever. That was really something to listen to. You could sense in his remarks, neil, how much this meant to him. Keep in mind, a number of guys on the hill, men and women, have been working on this for years and in some cases decades. Youll get into the weeds on the particulars. For the folks that dont know money like you do, let me share some details. It reduces the corporate rate to 21 down from 35. If youre earning between 49 and 86,000, youll get a tax cut of about 930. Families making 149 or bigger, just over 1, 800. Should be larger by congressional lawmakers. Many of these tax cuts could sunset by 2026 unless congressional lawmakers do something and the state and local tax writeoffs are certain to decrease. One more nugget i think the folks at home might find interesting especially if youre trying to buy a house or own a house. Mortgage deduction capped at 750,000. Thats a compromise. Some lawmakers wanted it around 500. If you are on the coast, 750 is a better deal than you might have seen before. Anyway, historic day no matter how you slice it. Back to you. Neil and you were there covering it all. Kevin corke at the white house. Look what we have here. An Interesting Development that companies would pounce on this and try to do something with the money coming their way including curiously enough at t. Listen to the president talking about it. At t plans to increase u. S. Capital spending 1 billion and provide 1,000 special bonus to more than 200,000 u. S. Employees. Thats because of what we did. Thats pretty good. Thats pretty good. [applause] neil all right. Now, that stood out, but it wasnt alone. Boeing is planning to invest a lot of money. 300 million in work related and charitable donations. At t stuck out to me and charlie gasparino. That has been a bitter struggle with getting the timewarner deal done. A connection there . Of course it is. If boeing does more charity, they get more writeoffs. Its great what at t is doing. Investing in equipment and putting money in peoples pockets. We were so uncompetitive. We have one of the high nest the world. Probably two other countries ant they werent Major Players ahead of us in this thing. It makes us it hurts our competitiveness. Companies i grew up with guys that were irish immigrants. They came to the u. S. Because of jobs here, right . Guess what . Jobs are going to ireland because corporations can domicile there and get the lower Corporate Tax rate. Thats whats going on here. This is a really good things. Where it gets muddied is on the individual side. Theyre actually raising taxes for people and a lot of them are not rich fat cats. These are what would be middle class in new york, california, new jersey. Really raising the taxes by not lowering the top rate and getting rid of the deductions, which i think is necessary. That is not tax reform. That is something that reagan did not do that, george bush didnt do that and donald trump is doing that. So what hes doing here with congress and trump is doing, they are allowing some very, very allowing corporations to make a lot of money, a lot of very rich people that work in private equity keep their carried interest deduction. They keep that. Thats a huge win for them. 2 billion for that industry. Real estate is going to get some big breaks, by the way, after this. If donald trump wasnt a billion flair before this thing, he will be a billionaire after this thing passes. Some taxpayers will get a small tax cut. People that dont pay a lot of income tax. Others will. Neil would there be a connection with the at t obviously companies do things in financial interests and obviously its if their financial interest with the forgiveness of money held abroad, bring it back for a 15 pay rate. Beats the 21 eventual rated. But does that register . Is the thinking that the more jobs or youll put yourself in better favor with republicans, with the white house if you start pouncing on this and dont plow it back into your stock . They have to do some cosmetic stuff. This is largely cosmetic, which is this is not all at t is immensely profitable company. Remember what the ceo of at t and his board of directors said. They have a fiduciary responsibility. Its not to their workers. Its to their shareholders. So this they can do some of this stuff where they say listen, we need to image get Public Relations here because were fighting the government on the planned merge with timewarner which the Trump Administration is against. Bottom line, these companies all have to take care of their shoir holders before they ever think of taking care of workers. Thats another neil you share a responsibility. People forget that. Youre right. Thank you very much. Any time. Meantime, the rnc chair Ronna Mcdaniel joining us. Thanks for having me. Great to be here. Neil we talked about the companies and it would be nice if they hired and expanded and not just plowing it back into their stocks on the market. Are you in that camp that says look, you spread the wealth around . Lets look at today with the big announcements that you just mentioned with at t giving 1,000 to 200,000 employees and boeing putting 300 million back into their employees and charitable giving. That will be something that will, you know, go across the market. A lot of companies will do that. Remember, too, you have 401 k s going up and pensions going up. A lot of people across the country will see their Retirement Savings benefit from this tax cut. Neil people dont appreciate the magnitude of that. We make a big deal, the Mainstream Media will talk about the stock market and all. Average folks are impervious to that. Half are invested in the market directly and up to 3 4 americans are directly affected by that market. Having said that. But there is this concern that average folks wont see it netwise in their paycheck. What is your thinking when february rolls around assuming its february and they start seeing it every week or two weeks depending how often they get paid and that will make a difference . This is a middle class tax cut. You just reported on families between 46,000 and up to 149,000 will see money coming back. An average family making 75,000 family of four will see 2,000 extra in their paycheck. Lets remember, weve had stagnant wage growth in this country under obama. People were seeing their wages freeze and their costs go up. This is something good for the middle class in this country. I will say, a Police Officer pulled the president aside in new york. He said my pension has gone up so much since youve been president. Thank you. So everyone will be affected by this tax cut. Its good for our country and good for the american people. Neil its so weird. The economy is racing along. Today not withstanding. It doesnt dent the president s polling numbers. Step back for that right now. Are you surprised . 90 of the Mainstream Media is negative about this president. And that has a Ripple Effect when every day you turn on the news and its negative. Right now youre starting to see the numbers break through. Youre seeing record unemployment and Consumer Confidence at an alltime high. Now you see the deregulation. Youre seeing policies put in place that will help everyone in this country. President trump will benefit from that. By november next year, every voter will go, am i better off than i was two year ago. Have the republicans delivered . Theyll say yes. Were watching as youre speaking. The congress coming back from the white house and the big bus trip. Now theyre back and going to the respective offices. If you dont mind me digressing here, theres been talk that the president sometime back had been concerned about the romney in your name or mitt romney might be a candidate for senate in utah. Was there any truth to that, that just didnt want you to use romney in your name . This is one of the most ridiculous stories out there. Neil i told my producer that. She just insisted. Just kidding. I have three reasons why i emphasize the mcdaniel a little bit more. Their names are patrick, abigail and Nash Mcdaniel who i dont see four to five days a week with this job as i travel the country. Yes, i wanted to have the mcdaniel to get more love. So ive chosen to emphasize it more. Romney is my middle name. Im proud of where i come from and the president would never direct me to change my name to be the rnc chair. Neil are the president and romney in good terms . He seemed to be complimentary . Yeah, he called him a couple weeks ago. I talked to the president about it. Were all celebrating today to see the historic tax cuts pass. To see republicans delivering. Remember, democrats are nowhere to be found. What have they accomplished this year . Its a big fat zero. Republicans are delivering at every level. Neil thanks, ronna. Good seeing you again. Thanks for having me, neil. Neil now the question is when the president signs this thing. Its got a lot of republicans a little nervous. The fear is its not official until his john hancock is on that after this. When you have a really traumatic injury, we have a short amount of time to get our patient to the hospital with good results. We call that, the golden hour. Evaluating patients remotely, is where i think we have a potential to make a difference. We would save a lot of lives if we could bring the doctor to the patient. Verizon is racing to build the first and most powerful 5g network, with ultra lowlatency that will enable things like precision robotic surgery from thousands of miles away. As we get faster wireless connections, itll be possible to be able to operate on a patient in a way that was just not possible before. When i move my hand, the robot on the other side will mimic the movement, with almost no delay. Who knew a scalpel could work thousands of miles away . Booking a flight doesnt have to be expensive. Just go to priceline. Its the best place to book a flight a few days before my trip and still save up to 40 . Just tap and go. For the best savings on flights, go to priceline. I used to have more hair. I used to have more color. And. I used to have cancer. I beat it. I did. Not alone. I used to have no idea what the American Cancer Society did. Research . Yeah. But also free rides to chemo and free lodging near hospitals. I used to maybe give a little. Then i got so much back. I used to have cancer. Please give at cancer. Org. Neil are you yo you in the camp a says sign it now, mr. President or take your time, we got this . Id like to see him sign it now. Theyre going to want to sign it sooner rather than later. You have to make sure every i is dotted and every t is crossed. I think he should sign it. Neil it seems like its a closing on a house. Youll risk delaying the closing. All sorts of things could happen in the paperwork. A form doesnt show up. So maybe this done deal falls through if you delay it. South Dakota RepublicanCongress Woman ways and Means Committee members, christine ohm with us right now. To a lot of the leadership i talked to, theyre worried the president should push this back too much. What do you think . We would prefer that he sign it sooner rather than later. We worked very hard on it and got it to the finish line. But theres a process. The president talked throughout this process that he wanted to give a Christmas Gift to the american people. This is meeting the needs of low and middle income folks. Focusing on the Small Businesses and letting them have an opportunity to reinvest in their people and their operations. So the sooner he can do that, the more we can followthrough on giving them the relief their need. Heres where im confused. Youre polite handling my idiotic confused questions. What is the problem with delaying the signing . Theres more things that is helpful if its pushed into the new year but more dangers in waiting period. Explain the advantage of pushing this off. I think maybe they start the new year with a good narrative. This relief is coming. Members can be there for signing ceremonies. But you know, i havent been in those discussions on where the decision will be made. The optics of signing it somewhere where there is folks getting relief, a single mom, a family getting tax cuts will mean the world and make a difference for them would be great. If they plan it and really message it well, its an advantage for all of us going into the new year. Neil today we had the first signs where a couple companies, at t, boeing already committing to use the money for their workers or charitable endeavors. Do you want to see more of that . What if other Companies Say were going to plow it into stock. Would you be disappointed if you did that . I sat on the ways and Means Committee and the Conference Committee and produced the final product we. Have we have heard companies coming to us about how theyre going to move back to the United States. How theyre going to create jobs and reinvest if their people. Over and over, they have told us theyre going to raise wages. A lot of our analysis that weve done has been based off of those projections. Looking at tax cuts in history and what happened and how companies and families reacted. So this is based on all of these projections we have, based on knowledge that we already have of vindications that theyve given us and they will make their peoples lives better. Neil you hope. I can remember the bush tax cuts and the temporary reprieve, the tax break to bring that money home, a lot didnt do that. Maybe theres more pressure for them to do that. But in other words, youre optimistic they will. Im optimistic because its permanent. We gave them certainty, which is what business needs. We also met the needs of families that havent seen a wage increase. They need more money. If you remember, neil, half of americans dont have 400 for an emergency situation. This will give them that kind of relief that they need. I tell the story all the time of a mom i met in the grocery store. A handful of coupons. She said when is it going to get better . Today it got better. We gave her more money to meet her family needs. And i talked to democrat that say if the president poured this much emergency into infrastructure instead of tax cuts that cant be paid for, we would be better off. Never mind that is coming from a side where the debt piled up under their watch. Do you think that that is the next area and that that should be the next focus and thats where bipartisanship might be found . Yeah, the president has told me that infrastructure is a priority. I think that is something the administration will focus on. We also in the house want to do poverty reform. Our federal programs that are supposed to lift people out of poverty only perpetuate it. We want to reform those and we can give families another step to provide for their kids and their grandkids and make sure we dont perpetuate poverty but go into the new jobs that were going to help create with this tax cut. Neil thanks, congresswoman. Congratulations. Thank you, neil. Congresswoman kristi noem. Theres many worried that if youre not writing off stuff and you get a large standard deduction, what would spell you to make a donation outside a good hard . A cardinal that is very worried. Yeah, the archbishop of washington is next. Were on a mission to show drip coffee drinkers, its time to wake up to keurig. Wakey wakey rise and shine oh my gosh how are you . Well watch this. I pop that in there. Press brew. Thats it. So rich. I love it. Thats why you should be a keurig man fullbodied. Are you sure youre describing the coffee and not me . more people shop online for the holidays than ever before. clapping and the United StatesPostal Service delivers more of those purchases to homes than anyone else in the country. because we know, even the smallest things are sometimes the biggest. Neil all right. If your tax cut is the kind that really is built on a higher just general exemption and writeoffs so it doesnt factor charitables, deductions, are you going to be inclined to do any of that . The archbishop of washington is here with us. Very good to have you. Thank you. Thank you. Good to be with you. Neil so your concern is what . In this new tax environment. People might have less incentive to give to charity . Im not certain that theres going to be that type of impact. We just had this terrible experience of the hurricanes. The response, the response of people was extraordinary. Were not a very, very large diocese when it comes to population. But we had almost 800,000 worth of gifts, people just saying help those people that need help. I think thats going to continue whatever the frame of reference around taxes might be. Theres Something Wonderful about being called simply to help other people in their need reg
