Six hours. He has a meeting with vietnams president and meet later on this afternoon with the Prime Minister of vietnam and tonight meeting with kim jongun. A short oneonone meeting in the 6 00 hour vietnam time and after that he will be joined by the secretary of state mike pompeo and the acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney for what the white house is calling a social dinner with kim jongun and then the big meetings begin, of course, on thursday vietnam time. The big question, is kim any closer to making good on his pledge to dismantle his Nuclear Program . Pressure is building on President Trump from both sides of the congressional aisle to push him to do that. Listen here. His goal should be complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of korea. An agreement that includes significant sanctions relief in exchange for something short of that will be woefully insufficient. We need a clear, concrete roadmap to complete, vee what the United States must do is continue to apply the maximum pressure that we can and make sure north korea doesnt do what theyve done for decades. That is give a little, get a lot. There is some concern within the administration that the whole idea of denuclearization has now become a negotiating point when it should be an absolutely nonnegotiable item and that the United States seems on a path to give concessions to kim to move him down that road. President trump insists that sanctions will stay on north korea until kim does something to start to dismantle his Nuclear Program. He shut down a rocket motor facility and blew up entrances to his Nuclear Testing facility. He didnt need one of those anyway. Kim growing increasingly desperate to get the sanctions off and neil, some north korea experts believe that this whole idea of denuclearization is not something that kim is negotiating. What he is negotiating is continuing north koreas livelihood. There is also an idea among many north korea experts that some sort of success has been baked into the summit cake so both leaders can declare some success at the end of it but that definition of success does not include anything about denuclearization. Well see if theyre right or if President Trump comes out with something at the end of all this. Very interesting. John roberts, thank you. Be safe my friend. Denuclearization, what does it mean to you . Like me get rid of anything nuclear. Again as john indicated it is not that simple. Ari fleischer is joining us, the former White House Press secretary and Robert Charles the former assistant secretary of state and alaina. What do you think denuclearization will mean . No way in heck were told the north korean president is going to do it lichty split if he does it at all. Then what . Thats the problem and this is something that Trump Administration officials have conceded in a call with reporters last week they said that there are different definitions between what north korea and, of course, the u. S. Think is denuclearization, defining what that is and how verifiable that is. The goal here is u. S. Has been pushing for decades north korea to choose between becoming an economic power or a nuclear one. And of course north Korean Leader kim jongun wants both. But i think something that President Trump has said as well as secretary of state mike pompeo is that they will not give any economic sanctions relief until there is a complete and verifiable denuclearization. If there is leaning on that it would be a win for north korea to get any sanctions relief. Their goal is to have both those powers. From the secretary of states stance, you have to wonder, mike pompeo has been telling the president it is one thing for them to have stopped the missile testing. Thats great. They can always restart that and we dont know where a lot of these missiles and other weaponry are. And he has urged the president to kind of hold their feet to the fire. He has as well. What is holding their feet to the fire mean . What would have to be verified to leave this summit and score it a success . Nuclear diplomacy historically a long and drawn out process no matter what country. Success out of a summit this is all about the principles, things arent going to happen without the two principals. Thats the definition of this particular countrys diplomacy. Success would be continued dialogue. Continued cessation of miss will launchs. You start to see a commitment and dismantling of the processing facilities. Get an actual definition on paper by agreement of what denuclearization is. The long term dialogue between these two countries is Economic Transformation and no coincidence theyre in vietnam. The per capita income of a korean citizen is 1300 a year. Vietnams is twice that. South koreas is 20 times that. What you try to do is show them there is a way out of this hole. The other thing to remember is that the big win would be to have them realize that holding Nuclear Weapons is actually a strategic liability. That if they move back to conventional, which is hard. Since 1953 they have been strategically aligned by their nuclear policy. But i think if you could back them out of that slowly over the next couple years you see real success. The president has gotten them further than most president s have gotten them. Ari, on the part of the president vietnam, the white house weighed in on that location to the secretarys point. It is a model for a former fierce enemy that becomes an economic friend and customer and client of the United States. Making it one of the most vibrant economies in asia and this, too, could be north korea, what do you think of that . Well, it is fascinating. Here is the problem with it. We speak different languages than the koreans. I dont mean english and korean. We believe in economic development. We believe in the advancement of people. Im not sure north korea does. They have no history of it. So long as kim jongun and the power brokers around him, his military especially, so long as they are in power, i dont think they really care about their people. At least thats been the decadeslong history of north korea. Their people will be in prison camp. Does the government care . No. They keep getting away with it. The question is is kim jongun from his father or grandfather . I have seen no evidence that he is indeed like that. What he wants to do is stay in power. So its a Beautiful Image its the right image and what the west should hope for but i dont know if we have a participant that speaks the same language. In the middle of this you have a nation that will be transfixed on the fixer. The president s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, is testifying behind closed doors in washington, d. C. Today. Tomorrow open to the public when all of this is going on half a world away. Catherine herridge in washington on what we can expect. Thank you, neil, good afternoon. Were entering the seventh hour that Michael Cohen has been behind closed doors here at the Senate Hart Office building for context last time he was here about two years ago, that interview went on for nearly 11 hours. Cohen arrived earlier today. He took a back entrance that largely shielded him from reporters. But we heard from republicans and democrats is that they want cohen to explain where he lied when he was here in 2017 about a moscow real estate project during the president ial campaign and when those discussions ended. Cohen testified the talks stopped in january of 2016 but the paper trail shows that in fact those discussions went on much longer and it was that lie that led to the prosecution of cohen by special counsel robert mueller. Lawmakers want to understand whether cohen initiated this lie or whether he was directed to do so and why. Because the underlying act, the business dealings in moscow, there was nothing criminal about it. And the project never went ahead. Earlier today the White House Press secretary Sarah Sanders issued a statement about cohens testimony this week on the hill. The disgraced felon Michael Cohen is going to prison for lying to congress and making other false statement and laughable anyone would take a convicted liar like cohen at his word and given another opportunity to spread his lies. What we heard from republicans and democrats on the senate they have different views. Republicans have a lot of questions about his credibility. The democrats are very much focused on the money trail. Im just not impressed. Anything he says i think that the American People need to be very, very skeptical. Were at another Inflection Point where american justice is indicated. He has answers to some of the questions that the American People need to know. So cohens previous testimony is anything to go by, we could be here well into the early evening and tomorrow is the big day because it is the public testimony before the House Oversight committee. But its important to note that hearing is going to focus on issues that grew out of the prosecution of cohen in the Southern District of new york. Those are largely business issues, not issues related to alleged russia collusion. Thank you very much. A lot going on in washington today. They make the drugs that make america well or hope to. But right now when a lot of the Big Company Ceos were talking before a senate committee, they were the ones who needed the drugs. After this. I cant believe it. That were playing four on four with a barbershop quartet . [quartet singing] bum bum bum bum. Pass the ball. Pass the rock. Were open just pass the ball no, i cant believe how easy it was to save hundreds of dollars on my Car Insurance with geico. Yea. [quartet singing] shoot the j shoot, shoot, shoot the jaaaaaay. Believe it geico could save you fifteen percent or more on Car Insurance. Do you consider the risk of negative Public Opinion in the pricing of that drug . This is ridiculous that we are getting gouged when people around the world are getting a better deal. If its a hard question to answer, it tells me something about how willing you are going to be to help us with this problem. If you do not make meaningful action to reduce Prescription Drug prices policymakers will do it for you. That was some of the nicer stuff. The Senate Finance committee grilling major pharmaceutical bosses who were on capitol hill over the soaring drug prices. Some went so far they colluded to soar the prices, treatments for anything from diabetes, to cancer to the common head cold. Lets go to Fox Business Network Hillary Vaughn of what went down today. Senators today searing the seven ceos in the hot seat they dont want happy talk. They want it in writing theyll drop drug prices for patients. Senators accusing big pharma of price gauging and accepting government handouts and in return ripping of patients at the counter by hiking prices. Were paying 2600, it is the taxpayer has stupid written on their face. I think you charge more here because you can and american taxpayers are subsidizing all of you. The people in michigan and across the kun tee deserve better and they need to be able to afford the medicine and not go to another country to get it. There were several pharmaceutical companies agreed that high prices are a problem but they say it is up to congress to fix it. They want the government to get rid of rebates. They say the middleman that negotiates supply between the drug makers, insurers and pharmacies are scooping up savings that should be passed down to consumers. No one company can lower list prices without running into financial and operating disadvantages that make it impossible to do that. Nobody in the system can fix it by themselves. The government has to step up and change the rules. The rebates have to go. It seems like the government is stepping up. There is a proposal on the table to get rid of rebates but they want it in writing that will be passed down to consumers. Neil thank you very much. Hillary vaughn. Chuck grassley the chairman of this committee, did he get the answers he want . He joins us now. Were you satisfied with these guys answers . Partly satisfied with the answers but the more important thing is they all admitted there needs to be some changes made. There wasnt as much finger pointing to others as i thought there would be. And they made a commitment to work with us. But remember, this is just one step that we are taking with the pharmaceutical companies in a few days or weeks we are going to have the pharmacy benefit managers in. They are the ones involved mostly in the rebate issue. There is 170 billion difference between a list price and what the price the consumer pays, neil i know a lot of Drug Companies were fingering the benefit managers that coordinate rates between insurers and employers and the Drug Companies this is what theyre saying, are Stuck Holding the bag. Did you believe them . No, but im not going to put all the blame on the pharmaceutical companies because we are going to have to have this hearing coming up and well have to go through the whole from the manufacturer to the consumer and the government plays a role in this. And we need to solve this issue from top to bottom. Neil do you think that our medical care today, senator, is geared to the wealthy . In other words, if you have a tough disease and you are wealthy, you have better prospects than if you are not. And thats why there is an allure to cheaper drugs, the same kind of drugs that sell abroad much cheaper that compels americans to go abroad to get the same thing. Yeah. The only place i can agree with you on the wealthy versus lower income people, wealthy have more options where if youre on government programs, you are pretty much in a position where washington, d. C. Is going to dictate. Neil you would not be for the approach of medicare handle this and it can negotiate that to leverage these guys for lower prices. Well first of all you are talking about part d. I was chairman of the committee 15 years ago the last time i was chairman, i led the effort to get part d in. And it is the only program ive been involved in that has come in under budget and still under budget. So when i see something working, then if it aint broke, dont fix it. And i think we also have letters from Congressional Budget Office. Maybe these are older letters but ill get some updates on it that says that the government negotiates, it really doesnt save money in the end and worse yet, when the government negotiates, the government really dictates and then you have a smaller formularies so that what your doctor says you ought to have may not be on the formulary and so with a lot of different plans that people can go into and with different formularies on different plans, you have more choices. Whereas the government runs something as they do in the va, you have 2 3 pills on the formulary because the government is dictating exactly what you need. Neil i dont know how it is. Im fortunate enough to be able to form the drugs to treat me for my multiple sclerosis and do okay. People who have conditions just like mine who dont have access to that because of the sky high prices, only some can pay. It is not even a government issue. Should something be done about that if it isnt reined in . Yeah. For instance, the extent to which i have legislation in to do away with a pay for delay scheme or the acronym, another bill creates. Get generics on the market faster. Have more competition. Neil good ideas. Thank you very much. Good catching up with you. He says there will be more meetings and there should be. This should not be a needsbased system. We all have to get well and it shouldnt depend on our wallet. Stay with us. Touch shows how we really feel. But does psoriasis ever get in the way . Neil a lot of green for that green. 93 trillion bucks over 10 years would work out to 600,000 at a minimum for each of us. The groups president that came up with this, the former Congressional Budget Office director is with me now. The cosponsor of all of this with congresswoman cortez includes artificially inflated numbers that rely on lazy assumptions. What do you think . I politely disagree. We took the Green New Deal seriously as a policy proposal and do what we do with any policy proposal. We looked at the specific projects they had included in the Green New Deal. Whether a transportation system. Electricity grid powered by renewables, guaranteed jobs that include paid family leave, retirement benefits, health benefits, paid vacations. A variety of things th
