Historic efforts went unrewarded and overshadowed by the cohen testimony. Did that bother him . Apparently say. Hes been talking about democrats at great length lately. He said theres no collusion. All of these investigations are in search of a crime. Democrats have no evidence to impeach President Trump. Ridiculous. He was quoting there devin nunes, the congressman from california. The president took that tack at cpac this weekend. Two hours long plus. He touched on his frustration with the mueller probe, which he said is baseless. But they fight so hard on this witch hunt, this phony deal that they put together. This phony thing that now looks like its dying so they dont have anything with russia. Theres no collusion. So now they go and morph into lets inspect every deal hes ever done. Were going to go into his finances. That they are. On capitol hill, the democrats insist that more investigations are frankly a very good way to compel transparency. The white house have seems to use this for personal enrichment. Weve seen abuses of power, obstruction of justice, threats to the Mueller Investigation, threats to witnesses. All of these have to be all of these have to be investigated and laid out to the American People. Before we let you go, i want to tell you about aoc, alexandria ocasiocortez. She said that she would back leaderships desire for more information before making an impeachment play. She said she would support it assuming theres evidence of impeachable offenses. You mentioned that the president has been busy welcoming the north dakota state bison. Hes also welcoming the states attorneys generals here at the white house. We expect that we will get a pool spray later on. But for now, back to you. Thanks, kevin that aoc would back impeachment proceedings. Were marking that down. What is the fallout from this . We talk to anna, christy and leslie. Jerry nadler laying out a bunch of new targets. The democrats seem to be indicating to the president s form, maybe the Mueller Investigation is a dry hole and we spent a lot of time and money on that. So is it the right idea to continue along that path . I dont think theyre indicating the Mueller Report isnt going to turn up anything. I think what theyre indicating is that they have no confidence in republicans to actually do anything about it even if it turns up significant crimes. So i think what theyre doing is pursuing a couple of different paths. Theyre saying, you know what . Lets hold on impeachment. Theres many things that could be considered impeachable offenses up to this point. We frankly just wont have the votes from republicans in the senate in order for this to go anywhere. Lets instead acknowledge the fact that theres been likely memorial day multiple, you know, felonies conducted from the president. Michael cohen is going to jail for several years is that why hes going to jail . It is, in fact. For covering up the crimes that he said the president told him to conduct. So yes. So this is what democrats are trying to do right now. Theyre trying to say yes, lets pursue this path of uncovering these crimes. At some point there should be some political gains from that. Well see. Lauren, i have to tell you, first and foremost, theres a poll out from nbc that shows President Trump gaining traction the last couple months as these things have intensified. More importantly, its interesting that this credence to the idea that perhaps its a witch hunt. It began as russia collusion, lauren and now its like a free for all. Lets delve as deeply as possible to President Trumps life going back as far as we can to see what we can unearth. Yeah, i think thats the problem. The American People look at this and theres no real strategy or purpose to a lot of it so they dismiss it. Quite frankly like the news keeps coming and keeping and they cant Pay Attention to it. Not only was there that poll, but recently they did a state by state analysis of how President Trump stacks up in each state. Its fascinating. California, new york and some other northeastern states, he doesnt poll that well. Pretty much the rest of the country he polls wonderfully. Thats reflective of how closely americans and their everyday lives are paying attention to the stuff going on in washington d. C. It makes big splashes here, but beyond the bubbles, it doesnt penetrate. And nancy pelosi has bank around long enough to know these things backfire. Ask newt gingrich. Where is the political calculus with this . A fullfledged investigation, where we can go, how we can get there and ultimately if they can pull up things that have nothing to do with russia collusion, does that hurt the democrats ultimately . I mean, listen, i would say two things. One, it should be no surprise that democrats are going to investigate this administration, the different agencies, the president. It has nothing to do with collusion. Theyre separate investigations that are going to go down a lot of rabbit holes. I think weve seen Speaker Pelosi trying to be pretty calm and pull back her ranks that want to go forward on the impeachment front even having aoc come forward today. A real sign of saying we dont want to get out in front of our skis on this. This will be the next two years of the House Democratic majority. Theyre going to investigate every day. Theyre just going to have a barrage of letters and things that they want this administration to give them. Maybe there will be some room to legislate as well. Democrat alexandria ocasiocortez has said to be creating a list of moderate list of democrats siding with republicans on key issues. Dan kelde spoke about this on neil cavuto live. We each come from separate districts. We have our own constituents. Were responsible to those constituents. We ought to leave it at that. No one person can say theyre the face of our party. We have a diverse party. Lots of points of view. That is fine. Christy, im seeing a lot of division in the Democratic Party. You know, i think the northam situation revealed some of it, Bernie Sanders revealed it. Howard schultz. A lot of problems there. One of the bigger problems is in idea of making a list of shaming fellow democrats. Where do you come down on this . No, i dont think that is going to be very effective. If nancy pelosi has shown one thing since becoming speaker, she has this ability to pull together her party. Id say with respect to the grass roots, they also have the ability to come together as one party to come together. So were a ninepoint popular vote, you know, win for democrats in november over republicans. Thats why they took back the house with a massive 40point gain. It was because the many wings of the party were coming together in support of candidates that ultimately pulled out victories. Although, lauren there were many wings. Ironically some of the more celebrated wings didnt win in their areas. The more moderate candidates seemed to prevail amongst the Democratic Party, which may or may not say much about this whole idea that hey, lets go further left. Maybe it doesnt really work. No, i dont think it does. I think thats where were headed. Its going to prove problematic in ohio and pennsylvania. It doesnt align with where the states are that have working class democrats in those areas. They rely heavily on the areas of industry that she attacks. I think theres going to be a real problem there. And i agree. Speaker pelosi is good at pulling her people together. This is a pretty difficult time for the democrats to stay on message given how many different people there are. Some of these new folks in the Democratic Party certainly hard to round up so far for nancy pelosi. Ladies, we have to leave it there. Thanks very much. I want to shift gears, folks. Stocks started the day off good. They didnt finish that way. Ashley webster on why wall street was so antsy today, ashley. Good question. As you say, i started so brightly. The dow jumping higher by 130 points on optimism of a u. S. China trade deal being completed soon. That was the hope. But optimism seemed to turn to skepticism as the substance of the deal was questioned and whether it was eliminate all tariffs. In the end, the dow putting in one of its worst performances in a month. Could have been worse. The dow off 400 points at one stage. Healthcare stocks saw the biggest losses. The sell off broadbased in the end. We also saw a disappointing report on Construction Spending in december. It fell. 6 . A slight gain was expected. The markets reverse course, the u. S. Dollar gains strength. We also saw treasury yields slip a little bit as investors look for a safer haven. You know what, charles . Well hear from a host of retailers this week reporting their latest earnings including costco, kohls and early tomorrow morning target. Perhaps the biggest piece of Economic Data comes at the end of the week when the government releases their monthly jobs report for february. That will be on friday. And completely destroy americas economy through their new 100 trillion Green New Deal. Charles were going to put President Trump down as a no. Hes no fan of the democrats Green New Deal. Well see if he brings it up. We has remarks out of the white house. Well bring them to you. First, to the man in charge of environmental policy for the administration, what he thinks about this green new push. Epa administrator Andrew Wheeler. First of all, congratulations being confirmed. Thanks. Great to be here. Charles a lot of noise being made about this. You know, all the president ial candidates, the majority of them, back a Green New Deal push. Its resonating in this country. What do people have wrong about this . Well, you know, i took a hard look at it. I dont think its ready for prime time. Makes a lot of wild promises. I dont think they can be implemented or achieved. Charles would you say, okay, we need a better climate. We should do something to address climate . You see it as the threat that within 12 years, if we dont do anything, thats it. We kissed earth goodbye. No. As far as the largest environmental issue facing the planet today, id say is water. The fact that a Million People still die a year from lack of potable Drinking Water is a crisis. Is Climate Change the execential threat . No. Charles and globally i want to get to water too, in america. Where would you rank these issues . As you take over this position, where is your initial main focus going to be . When President Trump asked me to take over, he said continue to clean up the air, continue to clean up the water and continue to deregulate to create more jobs for the American Public. Charles can they coexist . Can you deregulate and not pollute the air at the same time . Absolutely. From the 1970s to today, six criteria air pollutants have been reduced by 73 . At the same time, the gdp has increased over 200 . We can do both. Charles speaking of which, since the paris accord, co2 emissions have gone up in china and india. Is it folly to say if you thought this was the ultimate problem, isnt it folly to think that the american taxpayer should spend 100 trillion over ten years to try to clean up an issue that doesnt emanate from this country . You have a really good point. Co2 emissions peaked here in 25. The problems are in china which has not peaked on their co2 emissions. Charles i want to ask you about water. Contaminated water is a bigger issue than people now. It is. But i dont want to scare people. We have the cleanest, safest Drinking Water in the world. Were working to improve it and protect it and make further progress. Charles the issue is pfcs . The pfas chemicals. Charles yeah. Were addressing that. Weve taken eight Enforcement Actions the last couple years to clean up that chemical where we find it. Its in states and dozens of other cleanups around the country. So we are addressing it. Were addressing it in multimedia fashion. Charles another issue youre involved in, the cafe standards, the fuel efficiency standards for fleets of cars. I believe that they went to draconian levels under the prior administration. That being said, california doesnt want to change theirs. Where are we going with this . If these Automobile Companies have to make moneylosing cars to meet these standards, it does no one any good and certain will will hurt employment. Absolutely. Under our proposal, the price of a car should go down 2,300. Getting older cars off the road charles and what do you say to environmentalists . To reach the goals, that means you a lot a lot of things that have harmed the environment in the past. You know, were talking about Energy Efficiency on the cafe standard. Were still capturing pollution and Going Forward on pollution controls. Thats separate from the efficiency or co2 release. The further they go on a gallon of gasoline, the less gasoline or fossil fuels that we use. Sure. And to bring this back to the Green New Deal though. Under the Green New Deal, youd have to do away with the internal Combustion Engine with ten years. Thats where we burn our ethanol. Ill be interested to see the democratic president ial candidates in iowa before the caucuses and try to explain to the people that live there why they dont want to have ethanol and going into the future. A lot of ramifications from the Green New Deal that people dont realize. Charles youre in this position. A lot of criticism. Your a coal guy. I represented over 20 Different Companies when i was in private practice. Coal was one. Charles critics say you have someone from the coal industry in charge of the environment. Makes no sense at all. I started my career at epa as a career employee. I worked in the United States senate for 14 years before i went to private practice. In private practice, i represented over 20 Different Companies. I represented air Quality Management district in california. Nuclear industry. A solar company. I resented the gamut of energy. My critics only focus on one client. For that coal company, my number 1 issue for them was shoring up the miners healthcare around pension benefits the last four years i worked for them, trying to improve the retirees. Im proud of what i did. One of 20 something companies. Charles before i let you go, environment probably a major issue for 2020. No doubt about it. How will you be able to reassure the public that maybe either theyre getting misinformation or that information is being someone is fanning the flames too much. This morning we released our super Fund Assessment from last year. We cleaned up we cleaned up 22 sites last year, the most since 2005. Charles thank you, andrew. Thank you. Charles all right, folks. More after this. Carl, i appreciate the invite here. As my broker. What am i paying you to manage my money . Its racquetball time. Carl, does your firm offer a satisfaction guarantee . Like schwab does. Guarantee . Carl, can you remind me what youve invested my money in. Its complicated. Are you asking enough questions about how your weal
