The largest ever stimulus package came together after days of roundtheclock negotiations culminating in a deal overnight last night in the Early Morning hours. Senators are saying they caught an issue that they want fixed. If you are unemployed, you could get up to 326, you get half your income. 600 wage now becomes 300. What the federal government does is put 600 on top of that 300. Instead of making 600 when you are working, you are now making 900 not working. The 2 trillion package includes 130 billion 350 billion for Small Businesses. Four months of unemployment insurance. And for Many American families, 1200 for adults, 500 per child. Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell realized the need to get this done. No Economic Policy could fully end of the hardship so long as the Public Health requires that we put so much of our nations commerce on ice. This is not even a stimulus package. It is emergency relief. Chuck schumer says it was worth the wait. We can now call it a bill that puts workers first, not corporations. It has a Marshall Plan for hospitals and accountability, transparency, and watchdogs over much of the lending that is in this bill. Mitch mcconnell has been saying that he wants the senate to vote today. We will see if we can work out the bumps on the road. As of this morning, the press secretary was optimistic that this week it done. Speak to their president has been very active in this process. Hes well aware of what is in it. He has been pushing for congress to do the right thing and help the american people. We are really looking forward to this boat so that he can sign it until law. The sticky point had been this idea of oversight and how the money that was given to corporations would be used and whether they would be restrictions on edge. There president himself said last week that he didnt think that that money should be used for things like stock buybacks or increased compensations for executives. Bernie sanders now threatening to put a hold on the bill unless there are increased restrictions on how corporations use the money that is if senators do not drop their objections to it. The president insists that there will be robust oversight in this fiscal stimulus. Listen to what he said yesterday. President trump very tough protections for the american taxpayer. The loans will be very secure, and they will be very profitab profitable. You could add one more voice to people who are not happy with this bill, but for different reason. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has 30,000 cases of coronavirus in his state. New york city, one in 1,000 people are infected. He said theres not enough money for him. Okay, heres the package that gives a 3. 8 billion. The hold is as high as 15 billion. How do you plug a 15 billion old with 3. 8 billion . You dont. So the white house is still optimistic that this is going to get done. Later on today. The existing provision we found today you could be paid more money to be on unemployment than having a job. Once we get past this virus, we want everybody to rush back to these jobs and rebuild these businesses. If our businesses cant get their employees back because of the incentives, thats not going to get the economy going again. We have to get the economy going again. Neil you know Bernie Sanders has threatened that if you or your republican colleagues try to unravel this in the legislation quoting here, senator i am prepared to put a hold on this bill until stronger conditions are imposed on the 500 billion corporate welfare fund. This could get pretty dicey, right . I think, neil, people want to make sure we are helping our Small Businesses and helping the people that have lost their jobs. We have to do it the right way. So that we get the economy going again. I think the president has been very clear. We have to wonder, do with the coronavirus and thats what we are doing. Once we have that under control, we have to get this economy going again. In my case, im very focused on how we stop the virus, how we stop the spread and how we get all of these businesses open again. I dont want to do something thats going to create the opposite effect. I believe that people want to do the right thing, here. Others believe that people understand that we should not create an incentive where people create more do not work then work. None of us i dont know anyone that believes that you get paid i can imagine people dont want to fix this. We could start unwinding these at home closed restaurants and shops and provisions or at least start that process. How do you feel about that . First off, im glad that president has the goal. If we serve this virus, and we give robust testing, then i think we are going to open whether it is 30 days or 40 days or 45 days or more, its up to us. You get on the first culture we go on the billing get on the bill. He has total control of the agenda. He can fill it with what he wants to. Then you get something jammed at you. Whatever youre making up to a thousand dollars with a four month extension. If its more generous than that, is not what i understood. Well have to see where it falls. I think we can make this correction if it needs to be a correction, because the understanding was a person is no fault of their own lost a job if they lost a job. And basically business basically had to be shut down because how the virus that we have and health conditions. That person should be kept hole. And that is what we were talking about. If it does get to be divisive issue keep in mind that in this latest week, we could have upwards depending on what numbers you believe, senator, 4 billion more americans applying for jobless benefits. The republicans were pushing very hard to make sure that everyone got a thousand dollars or 1200. I had concerns about that. As that of a person is still working, i hope they can get their job and paycheck. If a person is not working, we can keep them whole. Guess what . We end up doing both. We will keep them hole. The republicans want to send another 300 billion on top of that. Im not sure whatever. Right now in this meltdown that could happen and we dont want to happen. I said this is not a financial crisis. Its a health care crisis, but it will turn into financial crisis if we dont backstop it. So thats what we are trying to do, a 2fold purpose here. You can debate about the bridge. Is there a bridge too big . Is the bridge more than whats needed . That can be debated. I dont think a person should be making more unemployment and they were when they worked. It doesnt make to me.
