Printing that's Hedwig and the Angry Inch I love it with a full band backup singers the whole the it's just so fantastic show yeah it has a great show if you haven't seen it and sadly I have never seen it live but I am a huge fan and I was very excited to to do it it's my 1st It's my 10th time directing and I've had a 10 year break so more than that I so I did yeah I play and I took 10 years off and I'm back to do my tan and yeah and I don't think it was the last one I did but a couple before that was a similar situation with the band and to remember always Patsy Cline so. Great singers and yeah it was all everybody trying because you know spoiler alert patsy to. She just she just she didn't die like a plane crash or anything so I'm like oh my gosh. So who were everybody left crying Well that's. Supposed to. Know who wrote this. Musical Well it was created by the original Hedwig and John Cameron Mitchell and the music was. Created written lyrics and music by Stephen Trask and he just. Asked. Yeah and he also featured in the film. It was a long time coming it was a huge project that started very early on and it actually started with John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask I guess working on some songs together and he was performing them in drag shows and he was create slowly creating this character of Hedwig that was kind of a rock n roller and a punk rock punk rock n roll are you know heavy metal you know a little bit heavy metal little bit a little bit of just kind of. Influences of the crypto homo rockers as. David Bowie Yeah exactly. So. And so he was influenced by those people and he was very confused confrontational into the drag show circuit because they're all about the layers of make up in the perfect hair and he used to he started getting all punk instead of rep and all of his clothes off and wig off and smudge and his make up and being topless at the end of his show which was very concept to the drag queen. Yeah very Popish And you know with the bare chest and whatever. Willie smashes in. And the thing he smashes tomatoes on his body that were he was using as we're not telling because we don't want to mop up tomatoes every night I understand. But in a developed and then it went into a film. Workshop lab a film lab basically where they work shopped a couple of scenes and they had created their the character of Tommy Gnosis which was kind of the alter ego but then as a film obviously played by another guy and they were constructing some of these you know the whole story behind Gnosis and how he was so fame hungry and not considerate and basically was created by headway again then went off to become a pop superstar right and left Hedwig in the dark and so that's kind of the premise of it all and so they workshop this into a fabulous movie and then when the movie gained cult status he was playing off Broadway in 1999 and then kind of went away and came back on to Broadway and this is the 1st time on Broadway and I got to see. Her Here is I was my birthday a friend of mine Judy Peet who will be here next week by the way she's coming to visit she hasn't been here and for Ashley famous to have she's not. Most of Linda's friends of. I'm just saying I'm just saying the bigger they are than I think they are to say Ok Ok Ok. But she Anyway I went to see Neil Patrick Harris it was for they opened it was when they were in previous totally sold out for the whole previews I think or at least that night they were Yeah and it was fantastic even actually have a song that we can go out with awesome and I have some on my how you come to know if you're interested Yes So you know Patrick Harris I mean so many people have played Yeah. It's great Michael c. Hall who was Dexter that sir and he was also on 6 Feet Under that we like. To say. Chris from Gary sent and he was also in Gianni Versace Yeah he was a dig dig who is fantastic and yeah yeah and there's another. Guy from Girl angels Yeah Andrew Andrew Right yeah I think right now all the something like that Reynolds Yeah he was the gay friend in girls girls yeah the roommate he's very messed Yeah I'm sure it was it wonderfully so I'm very familiar with all of their You Tube performances and I have known Patrick Harris. You know we're working off the spotify but we're working off the playlists from Neil Patrick Harris along with the score. And trying to bring in some of the humor that they created for Broadway and one of these a great game. Yes of course and you did help me with that. Very much but the reason why the Broadway show had a big car in the middle of it is they have to somehow justify why Hedwig who usually plays in Sizzler and little dives off the side and he's in a stalking. It's all the sun in a big theater and their promise was. All right. Yeah The Hurt Locker the musical which ran for one half a performance in close during into me into mission and that they were allowed to use the set big set for her dark of the musical So that is so perfect Yeah I just love that exactly so we have our own little local twist on the location and what's going on outside and where Tommy Gnosis is playing because she follows Tommy knows this is tour and he always has millions of screaming fans and then she plays across the street and she's talking him because he's ignoring her and she's trying to get some recognition base all she wants is just a little recognition that's all she ever wanted that's all any of us ever want any of us ever. So little record is that you didn't you know I have known each other for ever ever ever she called me once on a show and said I know this guy feels believe in fields doing. Yeah your theme song was Billy fields singing can't help myself bad habits you have I have it but not by him I don't have and I thought he wrote it did he write it he might have written it did yeah but it's somebody else that Anyway I heard that song it was my best friend's older sister's boyfriend and also my sister's ex-boyfriend and friend some like oh my God she's playing belief fields I totally know this guy so I called her I'm like what's the number of the radio station called her up and I said I can't believe you're playing Billy Phil bad habits these are the this is a friend of mine was that that was that was a that was a she 66 you have I was going to say. That's how long we've known each other how long we've known each other. And we both were playwrights directors excuse me got playwright Yeah the I've been a playwright by. I was turned down by both came. Later as we've directed many plays and I'm very excited about this I think I'm excited to it's going to be a lot of fun it's going to be very entertaining now got full and full sound like the sound issues for the band he would honestly we are wiring this whole thing if you're sensitive to loud music bring your earplugs please please don't miss. The bathroom before you go upstairs and toilet paper in there that's what I do that's what I would do be ready with your toilet paper in your ear drums because we're going to we're going to rock the house so tell me the performances when they are it opens on July 26th day this week we are just put some always comes to get. Comes together. You know where we're putting together we're opening on Thursday where we're getting all the tech and everything painted in actually in Risley is in there. Doing some building and we're building the tech booth all of this stuff is coming together smoke and mirrors and you're going to show up and so it's certainly a 62728 Thursday Friday Saturday Ok and then the following weekend also 234 which is fair weekend and pledged So it's Thursday Friday and Saturday Ok So 3 nights no Sundays just Thursday Friday Saturday time if god. Is it 8 or 730 you don't know Wilf we'll figure that out yeah it'll be on the past behind and we're going to put it in the entertainment announcements I think it's usually 732. And it's a want to act there's no intermission. And. Gosh I should have come with that information. But anyway 3 and I just want to know if you are unfamiliar with the Tom lardy. Cabaret. It's a small room we're talking 7 we're talking 70 seats if you're planning on coming on a weekend the 2nd weekend closing weekend I don't know if any nights are sold out yet but I will guarantee there they are. If you do want to see this show in this very small room please very small room very big sound please go to Mt Christi. I think hold on I've got it right here because I just. Did I just did an ad for them oh. Here it is we've got c p mountain theater t. Not or and it's t. They spell it. But the proper spelling you put c.b. Not theater in it'll. To the top of the show so but here anyway I'm going to close out but I am going to close out with zone now I don't know if this song does to the songs have bad words because I did there's no bad words one song does have some mention of some genitals which song you thinking of play. Perfect perfect very radio friendly good yeah Ok so we're going to play that and we're go and again go ahead I just wanted to say one more thing community theater is so different from professional we run on fumes we run on volunteers just like the pledge drive we run we run on community support and it's very hard right now it's summer restaurants are having a hard time staying open the post office constant. So if you do have a friend who's in a community theater production or even if you would you're new to town and you'd like to meet some super nice. Come and offer your help you know it might just be painting something with a role or it might just be something non-skilled skilled work obviously yes of course but please consider offering your time and your energy to. Community theater community theater community theater. And thank you very much for coming in so it's this Thursday Friday Saturday call 34903.
