A county judge ruled scalia died of Natural Causes after consulting with his physician and sheriffs investigators. On sunday flags across the country and in the Nations Capital flew at halfstaff in honor of the longtime justice. Known for his strict conservative views scalia was , both reviled and beloved by his colleagues. Here on capitol hill, the debate is underway over who president obama should nominate as scalias successor. The president has the right and responsibility to nominate a new Supreme CourtJustice Court justice. We cannot afford to have scalia replaced by someone like the nominees hes put there in the past. Iowa dci officials are investigating a shooting in wright county. Authorities tell kcci two people in eagle grove were involved in sundays shooting but are still alive. One victim was air lifted to des moines and another was taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. Were waiting to learn more information about a deadly officerinvolved shooting in urbandale. Just after 4 00 saturday morning, officers responded to a drug complaint at the holiday one of the suspects fired a gun after a fight broke out. Officers then fired back and killed the man. Two female suspects were taken into custody after running from the scene. Eric officials are investigating two fatal crashes in central iowa. The first in story county where one teen was killed and another injured. The car they were in lost control and crashed just west of maxwell. The driver 17yearold rylee mohler died in the crash. 16yearold William Spencer was taken to a des moines hospital. His condition is not known. The second happened in Webster County when a vehicle lost control and rolled into a field. 13yearold duane touney was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The five others range in age from 5yearsold to 18yearsold. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The man charged in connection with the hit and run death of an iowa state student is expected in court today. Police say 23yearold benjamin when it struck 18yearold she was trying to Cross Lincoln way at ash avenue last december. Clague faces charges including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to obey a Traffic Control device. Eric also today a man charged in a deadly Wapello County fire 10 years ago is expected in court. A bond review hearing is set today for zachary dye. Hes charged with the fire that and 22yearold seth anderson. Dye has pleaded not guilty to the charges. This does come on the heels of a Medicinal Marijuana bill that was introduced just last week. State rep. Peter cownie announced tuesday he will file a bill in the iowa house of representatives authorizing the growth and distribution of medical cannabis oil in the state. The move follows a 2014 law that allowed iowans to possess cannabis oil for the treatment of epilepsy. However a separate state law currently makes it illegal to manufacture or distribute that oil in iowa and federal law prohibits its transportation across state lines. Also new this morning rescue , crews evacuated 48 people from two trams at a New Hampshire ski area. The cars were stuck in subzero one of the trams was stuck at the bottom of the mountain the other at the top. Crews used a sling system harness to lower the people 50 feet from inside the tram to the ground. And in australia, police carried out a massive drug bust. Authorities seized one billion australian dollars worth of methamphetamine. Thats approximately 700 million. Federal police say the liquid drug was found hidden inside thousands of silicon bra inserts. They were inside a shipment traced to a hong kong storage facility.
