State athletic officials have decided to call off tomorrows High School Football championship games in cedar falls. They say they want to keep the thousand of fans and players safe by keeping them off the roads. Tomorrows games have been postponed when the snow does start flying youll notice some changes to state snow plows. As cbs 2 news first told you last month, the dot is installing blue and white rearfacing lights to plows across the state. The changes are part of a Pilot Program to distinguish the trucks and limit collisions. State lawmakers approved the program during the legislative session. Cedar rapids streets crews are ready for this storm. Streets superintendent mike duffy tells cbs 2 news that crews will tackle the citys main streets before moving into residential areas. He says 90 vehicle will be on the streets and the city has a stock pile of sixthousand tons of salt to use this winter. Police say criminals are no longer using darkness to their advantage. Theyve been breaking into peoples homes in broad daylight. Daylight. Theres a scary trend police say burglars are using to access your valuables. Valuables. They are knocking on the front door, if somebody doesnt open the door or answer the door, they go around to the back of the residence and force entry. Entry. Its an unusual thing and youd hate to be in your house if someone kicked the door in. According to police reports, the incidents arent isolated.
