Another day stuck in the teens and we have another one of these big fronts over the weekend and that will really drop temperatures again to kick out the winds. Snow, maybe . To close it out on sunday, some snow, pretty good chance of it around here, so those are the things well hit in the forecast. Its 16degrees out there right now. We still have some clouds in our skies, on the edge of a clipper that produced accumulating snows in northwestern and central iowa so we just missed out on that. Our current temperature in cedar rapids is 16, wind out of the northnorthwest at 7, and you can see the clouds continue to stream from northwest to southeast and right on the edge of those, i think later on tonight, well start to stand out and tomorrow, we should get back into some sunshine as drier air following behind this clipper. Our high temperatures today there only 10 decora, 14 waterloo, and on the other side of the chipper in western iowa, 36 omaha and 31 clarenda. You can see the difference it makes in what you see. We have a cold northwest flow in place to stick around on through the upcoming weekend and another blast of cold air hits on friday with winds and fought temperatures then. Unless the cold air gets in place and the warm air tries to overrun it, that will set the stage for the next clipper that will produce accumulating snows at that time. Around the area today iowa city our warm spot at 19, 14, though, in waterloo and duh buick and last nights lows down to 1 in waterloo. 10 to the north, upper teen in the south, 13 tama, oelwein checks in with a temperature of 12 degrees. In the upper levels of the atmosphere bringing one clipper to the south and west. Thats just missed us. Theres another one that could bring a dusting to the area on friday and then just off the screen there, the next disturbance, much stronger, having a much better chance of producing more significant snows in eastern iowa by the end of the weekend. You can watch the low pressure track west and south of us and north of that is where you see the heavier snows so it does appear to be a decent band of snow in eastern iowa. Our new u. S. Model just in shows up to 7 inches of snow in cedar rapids. The european model has about 2. 5 inches but any way you slice it is, it does appear accumulating snows will be a possibility in eastern iowa by the time we get to sunday so well just have to finetune the track and of course, the numbers will be a lot more accurate at that time. As our predictor shows on the, these clouds are going to start thing out tonight, setting the tomorrow, and sunshine during the day tomorrow but unfortunately, temperatures will remain cool. Low temperatures will eventually get back into the range oh, around, 2 to 3 up in the north to about 6 degree in the south, clouds will decrease after midnight and will be plenty cold by morning. For tomorrow, temperatures still in that range around 16 to 20 degrees in most of the area, maybe as warm as 22 washington. Skies tomorrow should be mostly sunny so a fairly bright day anticipated as wind come in from the northwest. In your extended forecast, another front coming through friday with the chance of light snow and much colder air for saturday, high of just of 6 after a low of 4, and snow moves in sunday with a temperature of 21 degrees. After that though, i see warmer air moving in for the middle of next week and by the end of next week, theres a chance temperatures could be in the 50s in eastern iowa so hang on oh, yeah, it will keep us going.
