Only have to heat it from 55 to 80 so it's a significant savings on your home energy costs I'm talking about electricity production where in places like California I'm not say much like the geysers which has been running by the way we've been producing electricity other geysers region for 60 years that's an old open loop system using geothermal geysers literally hot water brought to the surface a combination of underground water sources and and the near surface. Like volcanic energy when you might you know from the core of the earth most modern new geothermal sources Google s.m.u. Did a big study was published by Tripoli spectrum I think it's 2011 basically United States produce all of all of our electricity needs from geothermal actressy that's where you drill a hole depending on where you are in the United States 234 kilometers down does not deep by the way we have oil wells that go 5 ma you know 4 miles down so drilling 234 kilometers is nothing we're experts at it you drill a hole. And it's a closed loop system so you put some water down there and sometimes you'll spike it or you put it may give a vacuum there so it can turn to steam at a lower temperature and you hit $200.00 degree rock it turns the water to steam which spins a turbine which makes electricity. And New Zealand has actually proven that you can do this very awkward canonically Iceland has but Iceland's a unique again again because they're using surface thermal sources for geothermal here in the United States with a motherboard are called hot dry rock systems where you drive drill a couple of kilometers down and yes in very rare instances that can cause those little tremors like fracking does but in most cases that is not the case and you can plan that out ahead of time and we can actually produce all of our electricity and a clean renewable nonpolluting base load power source that doesn't require exotic technology to store it when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing so what's the barrier why isn't this happening cost if the initial upfront cost of drilling those holes 234 kilometers down we go oh it's like you have to take out a 30 year mortgage but in 30 years it'll end up being it pays itself off the other reason it's not popular is because here in California we have made solar a jobs program.
