We do have some leftover clouds out there this morning and some areas of fog developing, but live doppler seven showing you that we are totally dry out there. Any showers we had saturday or yesterday, that system is gone, but some leftover lingering moisture has created fog in the north bay from santa rosa to napa, novato, petaluma. We do have reduced visibility, so watch this area very closely. But outside of the north bay we have good visibility underneath that fog. Were in the low 40s, upper 40s to the low and mid 50s around the bay shoreline, 54 in hayward right now, 49. In the city, a chilly 41 in santa rosa with that fog. So well have our cloud cover early on. For the first half of the day, were in and out of that cloud. Cover your sunrise here at 634 this morning, but later on this afternoon, well get rid of the clouds. Nothing but sunshine and temperatures getting to near average 50s along the coast, 60s around the bay shoreline, our warmest spots inland, getting close to 70 degrees. Reggie drew, thank you. Developing news, the white house and other World Leaders urging israeli leaders to show restraint after irans unprecedented attack on israel over the weekend. Amanda, were learning that most or at least a lot of the Ballistic Missiles launched at israel failed to reach their targets. Now, abc news is confirming overnight at least half of those iranian missiles either failed to launch, failed in flight, or crashed before hitting their targets in israel. Israel says 99 of the drones and missiles ended up being intercepted, and those that hit caused minor damage at an israeli air base. Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his war cabinet over the weekend. The war cabinet reportedly supports retaliating against iran, but is divided over the timing and scale. The idf says the Israeli Government will make a decision on how to respond to irans missile strike. As early as today. Top officials here at home have made it clear the us would not be a part of any israeli counter strike or response. The San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs Union is now calling on the National Guard to step in after a series of attacks at two San Francisco jails. Abc seven News Reporter Gloria Rodriguez joining us live. And gloria, these incidents led to a jail lockdown over the weekend. They did kumasi, the jails website says visits to inmates are canceled through today. The Sheriffs Office says the jail assaults are under investigation, but says the National Guard is not the answer. Escalating violence has been reported at San Francisco county jails, on seventh street in San Francisco and in san bruno. Ken loma is the president of the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs Association that represents deputies many of whom work inside the jails. He sent a letter to San Francisco sheriff Paul Miyamoto calling for the help of the california National Guard until low Staffing Levels can be addressed, he says, the staffing problem is not new, but that it has never been this low. Its a scary time. I mean, weve had nine attacks in three weeks on deputies, theres been prisoner fights, theres been civilian staff injured. This is a really violent time. The San Francisco Sheriffs Office released a statement on sunday saying, we believe that our current internal Response Strategies will immediately address the increase in assaults on our members. And the statement went on to say, we understand that the dsa also ties the recent incidents into low Staffing Levels and has called for immediate staffing. The National Guard is not the answer to the staffing shortage, and the sheriff continues to be committed to filling vacancies, recruiting and hiring. Abc seven asked the Sheriffs Office why there has been a rise in violence, but they did not respond to that question. Police in the north bay are investigating a deadly shooting over the weekend in wine country. Two young women died. The shooting happened on Riverside Drive in a residential neighborhood in old town napa. Abc seven News Reporter cornell bernard spoke to neighbors who saw it all happen and tried to help the victims. Extremely disturbing. Extremely sad. Neighbors reacting to a night of deadly violence near downtown napa. Police say two female victims were shot and killed saturday night near the napa river. I ended up seeing some else that i didnt expect for sure. Brandon perez lives on Riverside Drive. He says he heard people fighting, then gunshots. I hear a crazy scream that just, you know, sends chills down your spine. Brandon says he ran to help. Did you try to talk to the victim . Yeah. No, i tried saying like, you know, can you like, like can you, like, try to lean back or something to, like, help them out . Because i saw that they had a couple shots on, like, like by there, like right here and then like another one here, i didnt know that you know, they already had passed on by the time i got to them. Investigators say another victim was shot and later died at the hospital. Brandon believes both victims were teenage girls. He says a car quickly left the scene, a moment that those shots went off, the car, you know, just kind of magically appeared to be there at the perfect timing, and then just sped off. Police say no arrests have been made, and a motive is still unclear. Its sad that our community is going to Something Like this. Its sad to hear that two young girls had to lose their lives. Neighbors living here on Riverside Drive believe their neighborhood is quiet and safe. But lately they have seen some changes. Its definitely been a little rougher recently, just because, yeah, like that right now. And weve been having some, like, gang graffiti, all that stuff. I think it was gang related. Personally. Police havent commented whether gangs were involved, but theyre asking the public for any information they have. All of napa is very safe. Its. Its a very small community. Its a very small town. Everyone pretty much knows everyone. So theyre. Theyre going to catch the person that did it for sure in napa. Cornell, bernard abc seven news. Another wild weekend on the streets of oakland. Sideshows forced the shutdown of several roads overnight saturday. Police tracked the dangerous driving at three locations. They say people were firing guns. You could hear it and setting fire to at least one car. Police say the shows broke up once police got there and officers took a few people into custody. Repairs still ongoing this morning on highway one near big sur. Caltrans says initial stabilizing of the road should be done by memorial day, which is may 27th. After that, a temporary signal will be installed to allow unrestricted one way traffic across rocky creek bridge. Crews are leading two daily convoys for local residents and essential workers to cross the highway. Caltrans says restoring the portion of the road that crumbled away last month could cost about 25 million. Time now approaching 508. Well take you to our san jose camera, where we do have a fair amount of cloud cover in the south bay. Mostly cloudy conditions here, but we will find those clouds clearing from north to south throughout the morning. And this afternoon well have bright sunshine out there, but we are tracking some thick fog in parts of the north bay. Well take a look at santa rosa, for example. Right now its 41 degrees, but the problem is visibility is less than about a half of a mile. Its been ebbing and flowing all morning. So certainly the valleys of the north bay, napa, Sonoma County, were starting out with cloud cover. Itll burn off by about 10 a. M, but be aware of that. Some low visibility there. Looking at the morning commute, well have that fog in the north bay. Its just a mix of sun and clouds. Throughout the first half of our day. Temperatures mainly starting in the 40s, will gradually get you into the 50s by about 9 a. M. And later on this afternoon, our highs are pretty close to average for this time of the year. We do have one change to the pollen forecast now were starting to see a little bit of weed pollen. Its at low levels that was not the case last week. So thats a new allergen in the forecast. Trees are still running high oak, pine and juniper and cedar are your main offenders. So mix of sun and clouds throughout the morning. Then well get rid of the cloud cover throughout the afternoon and temperatures is getting close to where we should be for this time of the year. Reporter veronica miracle has a look at some potential solutions to ensure that bay area educators can actually afford to live here. Bert dixon teaches High School Math in one of the most expensive places to live in the world, the bay area suburbs to live just three miles from school, he tutors and teaches at a community college. Im veronica, im bert. Nice to meet you, veronica. Did you think at this point in your career you would be working three jobs . Not really. I thought you know, by this point in my career, id be a little bit more financially stable. The salaries didnt really keep up with with the cost of living. Working three jobs allows bert to live close enough to school, to bike. There a commute many teachers cant afford. Do we want teachers that stay after school, maybe coach sports, get involved in School Activities . Or do we want teachers that, right after the bell rings that they have to get in their car and start their hour and a half commute . One potential solution to this housing crisis Affordable Housing financed with government assistance, specifically for teachers and school staff. Cities like miami, chicago and los angeles are all Building Developments like these. So were talking upwards of 400, 450 individuals. Itll be transformative. Nearly 80 of Public Schools nationwide struggled to fill teaching positions for the Current School year, with low salaries being a key issue. Were in the middle of a national and state teacher shortage. We started the year with about 5 of our classrooms not having teachers. Some spots, like napa, santa rosa, were ebbing and flowing between a mile and a half of a mile right now, outside of the north bay. We do have mainly good conditions when it comes to our visibility. Heres a live doppler seven along with satellite. We had that storm system over the weekend. Now thats over utah. It brought that cold weather on saturday. Saturday was just chilly for us yesterday we did squeak out a fair amount of sunshine. Now were seeing another warming trend move in over the next couple of days, and our warm weather will peak here on wednesday and thursday. But today well go from some clouds this morning to afternoon sunshine. Temperatures a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday. More of us getting into the 60s. So this is getting closer to where we should be for this time of the year across the state. Its a similar story, 60s in the Central Valley for much of Southern California as well. South lake tahoe, a mix of sun and clouds. Well go to 53 degrees for a daytime high back here at home. Any evening plans . Its looking quite nice. Its quiet out there. Temperatures in the 60s early on with clear skies tonight. Well see those numbers gradually fall through the 50s overnight.
