this, is abc 7 news. It was for 12 hours they were sitting on the plane, before they took off for their 16hour flight. Dozens of passengers finally on the ground at sfo, after being stuck on a plane for nearly 28 hours. And it began with a freak fog accident that shut down an airport in abdhabi. We go to

where we caught up with some of the passengers after their very long flight. Reporter anyone who has ever flown out of sfo, knows about fog delays. But in abdhabi, they have sandstorms and not fog. This freak fog incident shut down the airport there for hours. And thats one of the reasons why the flight just arriving now, had passengers aboard it for 28 hours. For passengers aboard the flight 183, frustration has been brewing for hours. They kept telling us we were going to leave, you know, 15 minutes from now. 20 minutes from now. 30 minutes from now. For 12 hours. Because of the bad weather. And the gates all of the flights were grounded or canceled. They didnt have enough space in the airport to accommodate us. To have them waiting especially seniors they have to pull them. The airline has apologized for the delay. They say the fog caused them to cancel 20 flight in abdhabi. One couple said theyre happy the flight wasnt cancelled. We had one other flight canceled. Reporter her boyfriend just proposed on this trip. She had reason to be happy. At least thats something. The u. S. Department of transportation prohibits lengthy tarmac delays. The maximum allowed for

Fremont had a high of 60 degrees. Current temperatures, on the cool side. A lot of 30s on the board. Were not going to be as cold as it were previous nights. I am tracking much warmer air on the way. Ill let you know when that arrives in a few minutes. Thank you. Crews are scrambling to finish eight classrooms that were destroyed by flooding over winter break. A pipe burst on december 23rd. Water up to three feet deep did millions of dollars in damage. Some of the furniture was salvageable. But the cement floor and parts of the walls have to be replaced. Classes will be moved to another building while repairs are under way. They came in on the 23rd and worked this last week and all of this week to get classrooms in other locations to start school on monday morning. No word on what caused the pipe to burst. The agency is trying to accommodate an influx of undocumented immigrants applying for a drivers license under a new state law.
