But were learning tonight the search may have had more to do with the investigation of a man well known for being beaten by Alameda County sheriffs deputies. Im matt keller in for eric thomas. Abc 7 News ReporterAlyssa Harrington has been following the story all day. She just spoke with family members of the mom and daughter who are relieved they are safe tonight. I got off the phone with the mother of dana rinta. She wants to thank everyone who helped search for her daughter and granddaughter. Dana rinta and her 1yearold daughter scarlet were found safe and unharmed. They were reported missing yesterday, the same day fbi agents raided a home in San Franciscos visitation valley. They arrested Stanislaus Petrov who is rintas exboyfriend. You can see him handcuffed led out of the house by the fbi n put in the back of a police car. We know at some point in time they were, in their conversation we want to have with her. Reporter investigators want to talk to rinta about him. Petrov is also seen in this Surveillance Video. Hes suing the Sheriffs Office after deputies were seen beating him last november. Petrov led them on a chase to San Francisco in a stolen car. Now hes back in custody facing federal prosecution. As far as yesterday, that was federal investigation that we partnered with. It involves the fact that mr. Petrov is not supposed to be in possession of firearms. Reporter i spoke with rintas mother on the phone. She does not know petrov and hes not scarlets father. The mother and daughter had last been seen in balboa park. Police wont say where they were found. A source says petrov is the suspect in a Domestic Violence case. The victim is his exgirlfriend renta. In San Francisco, elissa harrington, abc 7 news. The new details from san leandro. Police believe someone has gone from shooting out windows to firing at people with a bb gun. Dctsives just provided these pictures showing a man holding a bb gun and a car used in the crime. The vandals have also struck in other cities. You can see someone firing a bb gun in this Surveillance Video captured in january. More than 120 cars have been damaged since december. That adds up to about 60,000 in damage. A girl found the head in the tide pool at montereys breakwater cove this afternoon. Vandals knocked the statues head off at the presidio in monterey in october. They also defaced a statue. Took crews about 40 minutes to put out the fire on lake view drive. A few people are expected to recover after being treat forward smoke inhalation. The fire caused about 300,000 in damage. He was coming home from his cousins house when a man came up from behind and told him to keep walking. He put the gun to my waist. I didnt know what it was at first. Then i looked down and seen the gun. Reporter the man ordered him to keep moving down the station stairway. He had to start reaching in my pockets and felt my wallet. Reporter the suspect then demanded his backpack. Did you give him your backpack . No. What happened . I pushed him off of me. Reporter the suspect got away. Where are the police . Michael schafer has been found dead in San Francisco. He had been reported missing monday and his family was concerned he did not have his medications. Tonight we know a san diego roller derby player died in a freak plane crash on a freeway. A single engine plane landed on its belly on interstate 15 north of san diego and skidded some 250 feet before slamming into the back of a nissan altima. Ant net Francis Isabel was sitting in the back seat of the car and was killed instantly. She and her teammates were parked on the shoulder while the driver adjusted its blue tooth when the plane hit the car. Pretty nerveracking seeing the plane coming over the top of me and slide over the road and hit that car. The planes original owner is matt nokes who also briefly played for the giants. He had the plane custom built from a kit. He made an Emergency Landing in that same place on the same interstate 16 years ago.
