Im ama daetz. Im dan ashley. The verdict in the torres case is set to be announced at 9 00 a. M. Tomorrow. Tonight anticipation from both sides of this fiveyear long criminal case. Katie marzullo is live with the developing story. Reporter ama, dan, it likely will be a sleepless night for everyone involved. Sierra lamar disappeared five years ago. The trial lasted three months and now in just ten hours well hear that longawaited verdict. Theres no higher stakes reporter legal analyst steven clark is surprised the jury in the murder trial reached a verdict after only two days worth of deliberations. What it shows me is this is a group that got to work right away. They worked together collaboratively, factions didnt build up in the jury deliberation room. Reporter Angelina Garcia torres is charged with first degree murder. If found guilty he faces the death penalty. Prosecution says he killed the 15yearold, that his dna was found on her discarded clothing. The defense says the dna evidence is flawed and since sierras body has not been found it is nothing more than a missing persons case. Is it possible sierra lamar could still be alive . If that is the case, that would explain why they came back so quickly, if they felt that the da didnt prove sierra lamar was in fact dead. Reporter garcia tores is also on trial for the attempted kidnappings of three women in a safe way parking lot. There will be four separate verdicts read at 9 00 a. M. Tuesday. Store employees were able to hold down a suspect until the police arrived. The search continues for the other two. Last month at the bart station dozens of teenagers jumped the gate and started robbing an beating people. Marin countys top coroner is back in the bay area to face child molestation charges, 46yearold Darryl Harris was arrest fried day. Abc 7 news was in the courthouse today, but the judge wouldnt let cameras in. Harris is accused of abusing a girl over the course of seven years. Investigators say it started when she was under age 14. She is now an adult. Harris faces four felonies. He will be back in court next week. Those trees may be chopped down in lafayette for a gas Pipeline Safety project, but People Living nearby dont believe it is going to make them any safer.
