One group filed a suit against a Major Health Care provider asking for just that. The suit filed claims Kindred Health care pays less than minimum wage, denying lunch and rest breaks. Cooking, cleaning, transferring, showering. Wound care. You name it. Ginger rogers says she has a passion for the work shes done as a care giver but needs a decent paycheck, shes one of the plaintiffs in a Class Action Lawsuit against Kindred Health care. There are a lot of complaints and things going on but nobody is speaking up because they need their jobs they have families or, there is a lot going on. Its not being talked about. The lawsuit behalf of rogers and others alleges kindred and its affiliates in california failed to pay all wages, paid minimum wage, and overtime and did not regularly provide worker was meals and rest periods. Kindred has a policy in place theyre not paying for all hours worked. For example, workers paid a flat rate whether 12 or 24 shifts. Some rates are as low as 5. 80 per hour. Kindred has 30 contract care givers that are hired to care for loved ones at home or in a facility. Roth gers told us she works as a sitter providing care for a client for just over 100 per day.
