Not even a close second. Its been a long one. I waited a long damn time for this. I thank you for being behind us. Thanks for accepting me and my family with open arms. I cant wait until next year. [ cheers and applause ] lets go, giants lets go, giants lets go, giants [ crowd chanting ] madison bumgarner, buster posey. Before i get started, Ryan Vogelsong has to come to the mic. Vogey . Thank you, catcher. Thank you. Last time i was up here i brought you a phrase we were using at the end of the year to get us through the tough times. Im superstitious, you know. I said buster, you got to get me up there so i can do it again. So heres what we had this playoffs and through the whole season. So when a cool song would come on in the clubhouse we had kind of two ways to say this. Tim hudsons favorite was real quick like this. All set and the second one was real nice and slow and loud. Huddy liked that, didnt you . Then this world series song came out after we beat the cardinals and at the end of the song, Robin Williams was on the end of the song, they put his voice in the song. I dont know if you all were at game five of the world series. They played it on the scoreboard, when he took the team out in the 2010 playoffs. So i loved what he said. It was just two words. It hit all of us and we felt it and we felt him with us during this playoffs, and it was as simple as this. [ indiscernible ] thank you all. Love you all, vogey out. Well, that was a little weird. Were all a little weird here, though, so its okay. You know, im relieved. Im relieved that im up here and hunter hasnt come up yet. Hes a tough guy to follow, and hunter, you see those cameras right there . That probably means live tv. So choose your words wisely, pal. You know what, guys . Last year when the season ended, a few of us came out on the field and we talked to you and we talked about how we were disappointed with the season last year, and we were going to take that disappointment and use it in the offseason to work, use it in spring training to get better. And the cool thing was you guys believed us, and we believed that we could get back here, and because of that belief, because of you guys packing the ballpark every night bringing your energy, your passion, this is the product. This is a product, a third World Championship in five years, and we cant thank you enough. Thank you. [ cheers and applause ] thank you, guys. This is the best moment of our lives, in our baseball careers. You couldnt ask for anything better than this. You know, to be here right now on this stage, this is what we all played for. Its unbelievable. In spring training, we had one goal and thats to win another championship. And here we are with our third one in five years. Thats pretty amazing. Like theyve been saying, this is a dynasty and theres no way, theres absolutely no way we would be here without you guys. You make it so fun for us to come out and play in front of you every night. Its been awesome. Thank you so much. I love the signs back there, too, also. Thats great. All right. We got some more business. This is the inspiration. He is the inspiration and he had a great post season, he had a really good year, but he had a great post season, and he surprised us after the last home game, and he entertained the crowd and im sure hes going to entertain you again right now. Heres one of our favorites, hunter pence. Hunter . I got a microphone. Sweet. Sweet. I cant believe they keep giving this to me. First of all, buster, you thought vogelsong was weird, just wait a minute. Before i get started, i would like to get all the players of the team, were going to gather around with the trophy, get a picture. Dont get too close because i need one guy in particular that promised me something earlier this year, mr. Tim hudson, youre not done yet, buddy. Mr. Tim hudson is one of the greatest leaders in this clubhouse. Hes been a completely funny promised me, we have this really weird warmup that we have to do every day. It started in spring training and hudson was like what the heck is this. Its called an ankle skip. We told him, we said tim hudson, when we win the world series and get in city hall on the platform youre going to have to ankle skip across here. He told me he would. Tim huddy, give us a little ankle skip right here. Ankle skip. Whoo and one more thing. War eagle, baby. Roll tide. I dont know what that means but he says it to us a lot so we had to drop it on him. So standing here right now is quite the dream. I talked to you about a month ago about vision and a lot of you joined with me so i dont think we would be standing here if it wasnt for your collective vision. I got to thank all of you for sharing the dream and making this a reality. Its pretty special. Lets get weird. I think you all remember a little bit of yes yes yes. You all remember that . All right. Im just going to say whatever comes to my mind and i want everyone to give three yess with me as i raise my hand. First and foremost, madison bumgarner. Yes yes yes buster posey . Yes yes yes World Champion . Yes yes yes can we do it again . Yes yes yes thats what im talking about, San Francisco. Were going to come back to that. Were going to come back to that. I just want to have a little more fun. I want to have a little more fun. I have one more. Jeremy affeldt, gutter ball. Yes yes yes when i say frisco, you say giants. Frisco giants why do they give me the microphone . I will keep going. We need about five more. Resign pablo. Yes, yes, yes yes, yes, yes hold on. Santiago casilla. Real quick. Real quick. This is my man right here. This is one of the truest, biggest warriors i have ever been part of. He inspires me every day. He stood up day one, actually game one of the world series and told all of us that he had a dream, and he asked us all to share the dream that we would win the world series and this team was blessed by god. So glory to god, baby. Yes, yes, yes thank you, casilla. Let me see who else we got here. Brandon crawfords curly hair . Yes yes yes San Francisco city hall, we love you, baby yes yes yes thats about it. I think its time to get a picture. Guys, this has been the best year of our lives. I got to say this as well. I got to give a little bit of a message. We didnt do all this hard work, we didnt put our hearts, our souls, bleed, taking everything and anything to win this thing, if you guys didnt enjoy it so it makes us feel good for you guys to have as much fun as you possibly can. Get rowdy, have fun tonight and enjoy it. Were all thankful for you guys. Lets do it. Oh, yeah, i think you all remember, were burning it down. Thats metaphorically speaking. Thank you, San Francisco. Youre the best give it up for hunter pence, everybody. The reverend has spoken. Get your camera phones out. Heres your opportunity to get a photo op with your 2014 threetime World ChampionSan Francisco giants photo op time. Stay right where you are, everybody. We have one special moment coming up to wrap up our celebration. Stay right where you are. Larry beil and ama daetz. Hunter pence, thats why they call him the reverend. He delivers a sermon. We are really thankful. We have a guy on the delay button just in case because hunter has been known to have nonpg rated speeches by accident. So the celebration is not over yet. There are still two more elements to come here. They include steve perry and train. We know they will be performing for what may be a Million People out in the civic center plaza. So many people, its so great it started out a little rainy but its not so bad now. People are having a great time. Hunter pence, i dont think he wanted to get off the stage. I think let me think of a few more things here. Ryan vogelsong. I will second this. Resign pablo. Yes, yes, yes. Thats got to happen. What was the twitter hash tag that we came up with during the coverage . Hash tag pay the panda. Hash tag pay the panda. Lets listen for a second. See if she will introduce steve perry and train. Bring it up, guys. Thank you for coming out in this weather and supporting our World Champions for the third time. So the team was filing off, some of them are still onstage. Im not sure here we go. All right. Once again, everybody, thanks for coming out for the parade and the city celebration. Now we are going to celebrate with some music. Please welcome from the bay areas own train, lead singer ben monaghan. [ cheers and applause ] all right. I didnt write this next one but i would like to invite the whole team and the whole city to join in as a congratulatory song by a brand called queen. We dont even know what the grand total of people, hundreds of thousands, a million, we will find out from the Police Department at some point. But everybody turned out to cheer the players and coaches and it was just a grand celebration. Absolutely. Abc 7 News ReporterLyanne Melendez was on the parade route and joins us live now. Reporter i can tell you, had there been a snowstorm i think all of these fans would have showed up regardless. But the rain had a factor on the attendance. I saw fewer people along the parade route. But some of those who arrived here arrived really early, about 3 00 in the morning, to claim their spot. They wanted to be here when we got to them, they were tired, they were cold, they were hungry, they were excited to see their team. I have to say, as someone who has covered the parade twice before, i think fans missed the interaction that you saw in 2010 and 2012 when the players got off the buses or they walked to shake some hands, high five people. Here, the players stayed on the doubledecker buses and just waved. Still, you know, fans got what they wanted which was to acknowledge the efforts of this team that few thought they would win the world series. You feel the loyalty out here because of the rain. Everybodys excited. It was a hard series but we fought through and got it. Its really awesome to be getting to see all the giants players and celebrate because they won the world series. This is what baseballs about. Reporter tell me about this team. What do you think of it . Outstanding. Outstanding. Every one of thems outstanding. Reporter ever wish you would have been in a victory parade yourself . I am in one now. Reporter legendary barry bonds. Also included in this parade were all the people involved with the giants. All of those people who support them, the vendors, security, you name it, people who work at the ballpark. And that was really nice. There was so much confetti out here that you could swim in it. I have to say, the city has done an amazing job at cleaning up really quickly. The parade ended at about 2 00. I am on market and grant. Within minutes, they were out here cleaning the streets of San Francisco because guess what, halloween night is coming up and so is Critical Mass. We had a great time out here. Live in San Francisco, Lyanne Melendez, abc 7 news. Thank you. Its a long day for sfpd and a lot of city officials. Theres the man of the hour, loud greeting and cheers for madison bumgarner. His dazzling pitching earned him mvp honors. Well deserved for bumgarner who will also get his own day in his hometown of hickory, north carolina. It will probably be a little smaller there. Maybe a little smaller scale but still just as awesome probably for them. The giants players were really into it today, despite the rain. It was a lovefest on market street. Absolutely. Abc 7 sports anchor mike shumann caught up with some of the citys heroes during the parade. Reporter fans werent the only ones excited about todays parade. The 2014 world series champs were, too. Doesnt get any better than this. This was the best. Sharing this moment with San Francisco, its unbelievable. Thats what this is about. 45,000 get to go to the game. This is millions of fans. This is what all the work is for. To see them acting like this, you know, its special. Thank you, San Francisco. Yall been behind us. We wouldnt be here without you. No doubt about it. These guys and gals, i should say, had our backs the entire season. Ups and downs and everything else. And then the chance to have this reward is something thats unbelievable. This was kind of a total team effort this year. Yeah. I feel like thats kind of the way it is every year. Everyones got their moment for glory. They do their big part and they come up big. Thats all you can ask for. Everyone is locked in. Everybody kind of knows what its like to be part of Something Like this now. Look at this. Its incredible. Amazing. You knew the weather wasnt going to stop these guys from coming out. This is what brings fans together. These guys have been with us the whole year. We had a rough year last year. They put up with it, they stuck with us, and this is the reward for all of us. I love bowieing here with my teammates, love being here with the fans. I love being part of the three we have. In five years we got three world series. Reporter there was no raining on this parade as the giants bring home another world series trophy. In San Francisco, mike shumann, abc 7 news. Madison bumgarner. It was rally time at the civic center as tens of thousands of fans crowded into the main plaza outside city hall to cheer on their baseball heroes, the 2014 world series champion San Francisco giants. None more so than the giants ace and series mvp madison bumgarner. Mayor ed lee got it going with the familiar giants rally cry. Yes yes yes, we did it folks, were here today to celebrate our San Francisco giants. Giants manager bruce bochy told the fans thank you for helping the team get through a tough year. You are a force and these guys feed off that force, i feed off that force. So i want to say thanks. Thank you, thank you. Want to zip back in time and show you what it looked like hours before the parade started, as the barricades went up and the fans were ready to cheer on the orange and black. We want to support the giants. Theyre amazing. They did such a great job. Were here with the kids, too. Just a great experience. Fans are fans. Theyre out here no matter what. Some parade veterans learned a lesson from past years. We got here the last two times, 2010, 2012 and couldnt even find seating or standing room. We got here like five hours before. So we heard from other fans you get here 4 00 in the morning, seven hours early, and all we did was walk through the b. A. R. T. , get right here. Perfect. Getting out of San Francisco this afternoon may be a giant challenge for fans and commuters alike. B. A. R. T. And the other transit agencies have beefed up service, but you know its going to be crowded on the trains and near gridlock on the streets. Abc 7 News Reporter vic lee covering the getaway for us late this afternoon. How is it looking . Reporter we are just starting to see the roads, buildup on the road here at montgomery street. This may be part of the normal friday evening commute. We have not seen the crunch of people at the montgomery b. A. R. T. Station but that may be because a lot of people left early right after the parade passed their vantage point. All the transport agencies say they are ready for the onslaught tonight. B. A. R. T. Geared up to carry hundreds of thousands of fans to and from San Francisco. It ran its rush hour service all day using every available train. B. A. R. T. Also added 100 extra workers at stations to help riders. A lot of people told us the morning commute was smooth but this woman said her ride from walnut creek was, well, she can tell you. It was like being on a japanese bullet train. I dont know if you have ever ridden a bullet train. Reporter other Transportation Services also tried to meet the demands of the parade. Muni added six metro shuttles. The golden gate ferry exte
