Hundreds remain without gas service which was cut off with a traffic light pole fell and crashed into a natural gas line. Authorities evacuated dozens of nearby businesses and told residents of 1 00 00 or so home shelter in place. No estimate so far on when gas service will be restored. Reporter yeah, ama, friends and family of the victim say the sentencing does not reflect what happened on campus and everything that they fought for. Meantime, the university sent out a letter late this afternoon saying this type of behavior is unacceptable from any student, in this case, now former students. Colin warren, one of the three defendants in this case, quickly walked out of the courthouse with his attorneys. His codefendant Logan Beaschler seen here at an earlier date was present at todays hearing but Joseph Bomgardner was not. His attorney said i think the sentencing is fair. Reporter the other two former san jose state students will get 30 days in jail or weekend work. All three will be on probation two years, serve 50 Hours Community service and take a cultural training class. Its a light sentence if you ask the victims attorney. Essentially we asked for 120 days because we think thats the appropriate sentence given the conduct of the three defendants. Reporter many called the conduct of the three defendants a hate crime but the jury disagreed. In the fall of 2013 the young men put a bike long around their black roommates next. D. J. Williams seen at the trial was not at the sentencing today he told School Officials he was taunted with racial slurs for months. Last month the defendants were found guilty of misdemeanor battery charges, something family and friends disagree with even now. Any time you put a lock around their neck, its racially motivated. A highspeed chase in san mateo ended with a serious crash. Started with a report of a car breakin near harvard road and ended with a crash near El Camino Real and hillsdale. Reporter a highspeed chase through san mateo ended early this morning, the suspects stolen car mangled. The pair crashed into a concrete pole outside the hillsdale mall before 5 00 a. M. Sergeant rick decker says it all started when someone in the Crystal Springs neighborhood called police to report someone trying to break into cars. One officer spotted them. The two male suspects sped off southbound on el camino. As they were driving they were throwing stolen property out the windows so theyd been out victimizing vehicles throughout the night. Reporter they hit another car and slammed into a cement pole. Both were taken into custody and to the hospital where theyre being treated for injuries. One of them has been identified as a 23yearold from oakland who has a long history or violent offenses. A fire in San Franciscos Mission district last night. Flames engulfed an abandoned threestory building near mission and 22nd. The future of historic location in San Francisco is taking an unexpected turn. A San Francisco flower mart which was threatened only a couple years ago is now expa expanding. Abc 7 news anchor kristen sze with details. Reporter a real estate doesnt usually get everyone excited, right, but it does when it secures the future of the San Francisco flower mart. Everything is coming up roses for the second largest wholesale flower market in the country. The Development Company which already owns the flower mart announced today it also bought a twoacre site next door. Now owns seven acres between fifth and sixth streets. Flower vendors battled a year and a half ago when kilroy bought the property and considered putting the flower business underground. Thats no longer on the drawing board. These are artist renderings were going to show you of what the new flower mart will look like. Vendors are excited that the new layout includes easier access for delivery trucks. Its going to help because theyll build a new building for the flower mart so well have offices and i think its fwigoi to be a small Shopping Center and bring more customers. When its completed the flower mart will San Franciscos largest market. Kilroy paid 31 million cash and another 56 million in stock to the family that owned the land. Now, this project is part of the makeover of the central south of market area. Its one block from a future central subway stop at fourth and brannen. A criminal investigation is under way because of a video that surfaced online showing a man urinating on one of kelloggs Factory Assembly lines. The company says it learned of the video friday and immediately alerted authorities. Kelloggs says its own investigation determined the video was recorded at its memphis, tennessee, factory in 2014. It says any products that would have been affected would be past their expiration date. The potentially contaminated products included rice rice krispie treats and gra knoll that.
