Investigators with california Highway Patrol reveals this end cap is from a kranz water truck. Its the size of a baseball and approximately two to three pounds. It pierced the windshield of 822yearold louis shafers vehicle friday on northbound 101 hitting him in the neck and killed him. Came as a total shock to him. Reporter San Mateo County District Attorney steve wagstaf calls this a case where a teacher 25 years older than the student took advantage of her and whats more abc 7 news learned that sheriffs investigators in milbury knew about this relationship as far back as last fall but did nothing about it and thats also now the subject of the sheriffs investigate. Milledbury middle schoolteacher heather butts pled not guilt, among them committing a lewd act with a child. Its complicated. Its a very complicated situation and a very complicated case. Reporter abc 7 news is not naming the girl who has since graduated from Taylor Middle School where butts teaches. Butts was arrested last month after police found her with a 15yearold girl in a parked car here on santa helena avenue in san bruno. Also disturbing, abc 7 news learned that a parent went to milbury police as far bar as last october and filed a Police Report after he heard about the illicit relationship, but Sheriffs Office would staff the milbury Police Department and apparently failed to investigate and then in february that same parent went to the high schokoc where the victim now attends and told the administrator the same story. The School District called the Sheriffs Office but, again, they failed to act. San mateo countys sheriff has launch an internal investigation. Clearly we believe a breakdown did occur. It is not the type of service that we try to provide to our residents, and were very sorry about that.
