Neighbors describe an intense effort by police, a helicopter was called in, and k9 officers were on scene this happened on the other end of this backyard fence. We heard gunshots, four gunshots. Her nextdoor neighbor could also hear the commotion. I heard a lot of bullets, calling the people coming out, i dont know how many people, but he said you come out, everything will be okay. According to Fremont Police, east bay Regional ParkPolice Officers called for a backup after a traffic stop at the nearby 7eleven. Someone inside the vehicle ran out and fremont officers chased him to the back lot of this shopping center. Michael reins represents the officers involved, he said one of them spotted the man standing on the back of a uhaul track on the back of the lot. At first the man raised his hands as if surrendering and then seemingly changed his mind. They saw this guy with his hands up like this, one officer clearly saw an object in his hand, but all three saw was a muzzle flash. He says two officers returned fire but the incident didnt end for some time. They called in the Fire Department to deploy a drone to see if the suspects weapon was on the roof of the uhaul or nearby. We were too close to the place, we were concerned people would jump into our backyard. This is the third officerinvolved shooting in fremont this year.
