We are tracking a house fire in the east bay that injured two firefighters. Now the people that live there could be facing criminal charges. For more lets get to abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, who is live in antioch. Reporter you can see some damage on the outside of the home from this fire, and some of the blackened facade and the real problem was inside the walls. Fire investigators showed us the wiring here at this home, and they call it illegal saying the homeowner was stealing electricity from the neighborhood because they could not afford to pay for their own, and they found out about it the hard way and two firefighters were hurt because of this. Firefighters responded here and they were shocked by an unprotected electrical circuit, and that put their lives at risk and thats a very serious concern for our Fire Department and all other Fire Departments. Reporter heres a look at the Team Fighting the fire. This happened at 11 00 last night in antioch on blythe drive. The family inside was okay and nobody else was hurt. They are saying its not too late for those companies to protect themselves p. To those who have not updated your software, its imperative you do so to get through it and to continue to get through it as the attack will change over the week. Experts are warning this could be the beginning and we could see similar and bigger attacks. Santa clara prosecutors want their psychologist to evaluate torres before his sentencing phase begins tomorrow. His claims say he suffered from stress and trauma. They want to use that report to show he does not deserve the death penalty. Last week jurors found torres guilty of killing lamar in 2012. Reporter police are revealing the Surveillance Footage and dont know what led up to the violence. A store clerk shot and injured a suspect that was trying to rob his fairfield shop yesterday afternoon around 12 40. Witnesses tell police the suspect walked into the store wearing a mask before pulling a gun in an attempt to rob the store. Thats when the store clerk pulled out his gun and shot the man in his chest. The suspect is now in critical condition, and the clerk is not facing any charges. Investigators in new york this morning are trying to pinpoint the cause in the massive fire. It destroyed a historic synagogue. It was built in 1850, and its now abandoned, but look at the flames. The synagogue once served as a house of worship for a Orthodox Jewish congregation. Nobody was hurt in the fire. And then a bike race finishes up in san jose. You see the woman driving a car into the man. They got into an argument before that about littering, and the man appears to roll a shopping cart into her car and thats when she drives right into him. Police arrested the driver and her passenger, now both are in jail for attempted murder. New developments this morning in West Virginia where Peaceful Protesters are denouncing white nationalist. It was to show opposition to this rally that happened on saturday, and white nationalists groups were speaking out about the plans to sell a confederate statue of robert e. Lee. And then officers say woman was driving a jeep, and the driver cashed into a wall and tree before landing in front of a montessori school. The 24yearold passenger died. Now police are saying this is not the drivers first run in with the law. She has extensive criminal history and contacts with law enforcement. The whole incident is horrible and the officers are doing what they do, and thank god that nobody else was injured in this. It all started on saturday when police went to the clayton Station Shopping Center with the report of somebody look into cars, and that suv was stolen. A fire forced ten people out of their homes in San Francisco. It started yesterday afternoon on the deck of a home about a block from balboa high school. Firefighters got it out quickly and nobody was hurt. Happening today, San Francisco major, ed lee, announcing a recordlevel investment for street paving projects. Thats the same neighborhood where the supervisor is calling on people to report potholes by this weekend promising they will be filled next month and she declared june, fewer month, get it . Lets talk about what will happen the rest of today. Let me show you first 101 at 880 and some of the sunshine that already is starting to peek over the hills and mountains into the south bay. We are chilly this morning from 39 in petaluma to 52 in richmond and in the mid50s to the upper 50s along the coast, and mid60s at noon around the bay, and everybody in the 50s at 7 00. Now we have got clouds this morning and we will become sunny by noon and become breezy by 4 00, and thats why we are going to be below average once again. And the breezes kick up a chance of wet weather tomorrow. We do have the bay bridge metering lights on, and once that happens it does not take long to fill in and start backing up into the maze. Thats typical here for a weekday commute. A check of drive times, and also typical heavy traffic out of tracy, 580, tracy to dublin, 50 minutes, not terrible. And 101, san rafael to San Francisco in the green at ten minutes. We have a crash involving a pedestrian near the peninsula and we will look at that next. And then a twoalarm fire at a home started near 24th and san antonio this morning, and somebody tried to help firefighters by spraying water from a garden hose and people driving by spotted the flames and called 911. It was really bad. The house almost collapsed and we stopped and helped the family and helped them out and gave them water. Nobody was hurt and the cause is under investigation. It has happened again as they have dozens of times in the past year, police are investigating a highway shooting. This time two people were hurt on 880 and hayward. Matt keller is live at the scene.
