Now police in san mateo are trying to find a man who approached a teenaged girl and offered her money to leave with him. This morning, Police Arrested a different man they say harassed teenaged girls two separate times this week outside san mateo high school. Investigators spotted gary fong of San Francisco driving around the high school this morning. They say he matched the description the girls gave. The latest incident happened last night at nearby san mateo adult school. An Oakland High School student was sexually assaulted by another student monday afternoon. It happened while school was still in session. The girl was attacked in the Baseball Dugout area. Police arrested the male student. The Oakland Unified School district is Offering Counseling to the victim and Sexual Assault prevention training for the school. An explosion at Vallejo High School that seriously injured one worker today might be the result of the napa earthquake. It happened inside a classroom at Vallejo High School about 8 00 this morning. School Officials Say a technician turned on the schools heater and was burned in the blast. When he actually ignited it, started it, it blew. It sure did. Gas to the school was shut off for repairs after augusts 6. 0 earthquake. They turned it back on last night. Investigators say its too early to know for certain if the pipe was damaged by the quake. Friday prayers took on a somber tone at an oakland mosque. A member of the congregation died last night, hit and killed by a car. The 47yearold father of five was blind. The accident happened as he was walking at 62nd and Market Street. Abc 7 News ReporterLaura Anthony joins us from police headquarters. Reporter investigators are still trying to figure out where exactly salem was walking, whether he was in the crosswalk and exactly how fast the driver was going. In the meantime, this mans family and friends know that none of those details will change the outcome. They came by the hundreds to pray together, just 18 hours after their friend and Family Member was killed, struck down in an instant on a busy street a few miles away. Those who knew him describe a devout family man who lost his sight but never abandoned his faith. He was a humble man. And he was blind and he always go worshipping god in the mosque every day, about five times a day. He minds his business and he has a big family to support. Reporter the 47yearold was killed as he was leaving the oakland mosque he visited every few hours. It happened just after 6 00 p. M. Thursday night as the father of five was walking across Market Street at 62nd in white clothing, carrying his white cane. Police describe him as being in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver of the suv that hit him did stop and police say she is cooperating. I cant sleep last night. Reporter why are you mad . Because my cousin, i know him 14 years. We pray together. I know him. Reporter this morning, his many friends and immediate family gathered at the Oakland Islamic Center for a Prayer Service and to prepare his body for burial. I worked with him a long time ago when he had his vision. And thats something, a loss for everybody in the community. A Good Samaritan and an offduty firefighter helped pull a 60yearold marin county man out of his car before it was completely consumed by flames. The mans car careened off civic center drive, crashed through a fence and burst into a ball of fire. This is from our media partner. The driver apparently had some kind of medical emergency and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. He was saved by the Good Samaritans. In concord, sky 7 hd was overhead after a driver was trapped in a car that caught fire there as well. Fire Officials Say the drivers foot apparently got stuck under the brake pedal sending the car into a wall at treat boulevard this morning. Rus c rescuers had to extricate the driver. The driver is expected to be okay. Late today, federal judges imposed a january 1st deadline for california to start considering parole for nonviolent sex strike inmates. Its part of a previous order to speed up the states prisoner release process to reduce the prison population and improve inmate conditions. The state is required to forward those inmates names to the parole board once they have served half their sentence. The department of corrections said it will comply. The refinery in martinez will have to pay more than a quarter Million Dollars for polluting the air. Bay area air Quality Management district said they had 23 violations in 2011 including excessive nitrogen oxide emissions, tank leak violations, reporting and monitoring violations and what they call an overwhelming flair system that caused odors and prompted numerous complaints from People Living nearby. A bay area congresswoman is being shot down by nascar tonight. Nascar driver kurt busch accused of Domestic Abuse by his former girlfriend will take the wheel for this sundays final race. Thats despite a letter written by california congresswoman Jackie Speier demanding that nascar officials suspend him. Nascars chairman says he wont intervene until the investigation is over. Buschs exgirlfriend says he slammed her head against a wall back in september. Busch, who has not been charged, says thats not true. In your voice, your vote, the counting of ballots continues in santa clara county. There is talk about a possible recount, but if its true, is it true and what would it entail . Reporter its our right as americans to open, fair and honest elections. But at issue in santa clara county, concern over whether results from the general election may have been compromised. On the eve of the election, an Information Technology manager in the Registrars Office abruptly resigned. Some wonder was protocol regarding his resignation followed and did the incident affect the election in any way. The registrar says in the interest of transparency she asked the secretary of state to review the countys election results. That will reassure the public there are no issues. I am very confident in our vote tabulation system and the results of the elections as they have been reported. Reporter as of this afternoon, boucher told us she was still waiting on word from sacramento. Late today, the secretary of States Office emailed me a letter they sent boucher reminding her of a conversation earlier this week in which they told her the ball is in her court. A race that hangs in the balance, the district seven seat for San Jose City council. Political newcomer holds a slim lead over esparza. Nguyen wants to assure every vote is counted. Nothing we can even hint or detect of irregularity. Reporter esparza is just as curious about what happens next. Im not sure what the future holds. Thats what travel experts are saying about the effect of a 45 day suspension for all Asiana Airlines flights in or out of San Francisco international airport. The suspension was handed down by the south korean government. Its punishment for last years deadly crash. Asiana is one of only four airlines with daily nonstop flights from sfo to seoul. You would have to take airplanes and divert them from other routes to the route between San Francisco and seoul. Or put larger planes on if they have them. But you wont have the same degree of fair competition. Asiana airlines is appealing its government suspension and requesting a fine instead so its still flying its regular routes in and out of sfo. A decision will come in a month. Alameda county superior court judge sentenced 17yearold Richard Thomas to seven years in prison for setting 19yearold sasha fleischmanns skirt on fire last november. It happened while fleischmann, then 18 years old, was sleeping in the back of an ac transit bus near mcarthur boulevard in oakland. Thomas pleaded no contest last month to using a cigarette lighter to ignite the teenagers skirt. Fleischmanns mother today spoke to her sons assailant in court. This is horrible, what you did, but we dont hate you. We dont think that hate hate just creates more hate. We want you to come out of prison not being hateful. Its part of the universitys outreach to promote College Readiness at schools with fewer graduates attending college.
