Thats when a Police Officer spotted this Dodge Durango stolen out of gilroy. The driver would not stop for officers and sped off into busy Shopping Centers. The officer rammed suvs several times to try to stop it. The dodge ended up on the Shopping Centers sidewalk. Officers arrested both the male driver and a female passenger for possession of stolen property among other violations. No officers were hurt. A family in san jose has a lot of questions about what happened after the youngest of three Adult Children was killed by cars involved in an apparent industries rate. 18yearold Gabrielle Esparza and 23yearold Manuel Avalos are in jail for reckless driving. They hit a woman who was not inially walking or running at the side of the road when this happened. Weve been talking with the family. David is live where this happened in san jose where their story. Dropping off flowers, some putting up a sign thats rest in peace. Despite the tragedy that hooped here, drivers along yerba buena continue to speed. Speeding along busy yerba buena road isnt difficult to document. A San Jose Police traffic officer stopped seven vehicles in a halfhour. The fastest were going 59 in a 40 mileperhour zone. Thats little comfort for those who knew 24yearold kieren pavla, killed when two speeding cars crashed and smashed through a guardrail. Her family is spending this day mourning and wondering why it happened. She didnt deserve this. She just went out for a jog like every other day. Reporter keyarena pavla had a Large Network of friends. She worked at a staffing agency. Daily jogging had become a path to fitness and weight loss. Relatives were planning a big party to celebrate her 25th birthday next month. Almost 150 people here the last couple of hours just to show their respects. She was a very wellknown person in this community. People loved her. People loved her smile. She was a joyful person. She didnt deserve this at all. Reporter now, 18yearold Gabrielle Esparza and Manuel Avalos are in jail facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving. That is a process that Charlene Lennon knows. Five years ago her 20yearold daughter was killed by speeding cars also in san jose. The accused drivers would never look her in the eyes at court hearings. They did not show one ounce of remorse that i saw during the whole entire process. They did not shed a tear. They there was excuses made. I just dont think they cared. I think they were more worried about themselves. Reporter family and friends placed flowers at the crash site. Arrangements for a funeral must be made. The first person to die from the flu in Santa Clara County this flu season did not take the vaccine. Health officials confirmed the first fatal flurelated case today. The victim was under the age of 65 and did not have any medical risks that kpoufbcould have been complicated by the flu. This is the sixth flu death this season. A car fire on 880 in fremont just this afternoon. You see the flames shooting out of the car on the center divider. It happened near the southbound maui avenue accident. Thear fire caused backups the car fire caused backups in both directions on the freeway. You see firefighters there extinguishing the fire. No word if anybody was injured or what caused the flames. A concord teacher accused of child molestation has been found guilty on 19 counts. The contra costa jury convicted joseph martin. He argued nine boys in his class at woodside elementary mistook shoulder rubs for improper touching. A disgraced california Highway Patrol officer today admitted to stealing racy cell phone photos from two women. Shawn harrington admits he stole the seminude photos from the cell phones of two female dui arrestees and passed those photos on to at least two other chp officers. The 35yearold pleaded no contest to charges against him in contra costa county. I apologize to my family, my wife, my friend. I apologize to officers everywhere, and especially to the two women involved. Im trying to put this behind me and move forward from. This and i hope now everyone else can, too. With his plea, harrington received three years probation but no jail time. As part of his sentence the 35yearold must attend and participate as a speaker in Community Violence solutions class. A teenage boy accused of stabbing a former classmate to death is back at home. Homicide charges were dropped this morning. Abc 7 now with a key piece of evidence that may have led to the release. Alissa . Reporter this is where star athlete and statea student Rashaun Williams was stabbed to Death Outside of this Convenience Store on 2 and folsom streets. Defenders say the Surveillance Video proved Police Arrested the wrong person. Our client who is a young teenager was villainized and called a murderer. Reporter the San Francisco public defender says his teenaged client sat in a juvenile Detention Center for months accused of a grisly crime he did not commit. Today the District Attorneys Office dropped the charges again him for the murder of against him for the murder of 14yearold Rashaun Williams. Given of the evidence, the charges have been dropped at this time. Reporter other charges could be filed later. For now theres nobody in custody for the murder which happened september 2nd outside rubens market in San Franciscos mission district. Two pieces of Surveillance Video from outside the store and from a mcdonald on Mission Street prove his client is not the one who committed the stabbing. In this shot the teen is in front wearing khakis. Another young man is in red wearing a dark sweatshirt and dark pants. This video is from outside rubens market and shows the stabbing. The victim is in the yellow circle. The video showed that the clothing worn by the person who committed the stabbing was not the clothing worn by our cline. Reporter although he was there seen running in the blue circle and may know the person who stabbed the victim. The other teen in the video, he says, is the one who committed the crime. Police have not officially named any other suspects. Meanwhile, family and friends of williams are awaiting new answers and justice for their loved one. In San Francisco, abc7 news. An hour ago witnesses reported two cars firing shots at one another. Ten minutes after that two people with gunshot wounds showed up at the old clamhouse restaurant on bayshore boulevard. Mormon leader announced a historic change toward gays. In Salt Lake City the Mormon Church threw support behind a bill currently before the Utah Legislature banning housing and employment discrimination against gays and lesbians. The director of the Lgbt Community in San Francisco applauds the churchs decision but notes it is conditional. We were excited. Its definitely an enormous step forward. We applaud the Mormon Church for taking the stand for bake civil rights and for basic civil rights and for nondiscrimination against lgbt people. Heres the condition the church says it will also support the other proposed bill in utah saying no one can be forced to perform a gay marriage if he or she has religious objections. In other words, the church cannot discriminate again the civil rights of lgbt people as long as those rights do not conflict with tenets of the religion. When i walked back to the car, i saw the glass shattered all over my seat. Reporter Marcella Foster found oakland diamonds next to her car in the parking lot of the restaurant. Ownership seems unhappily resigned to betty crime along with much of the rest of the city. I mean, it happens all over the place. Reporter marcella lost more than 800,000 worth of cell phones in the robbery and lost more confidence in oakland as a place to live. And she works for the county.
