Trying to put spot fires out and it was just kind of hell on earth. Reporter but the fire fight isnt over. Just as he was describing his hectic weekend, a spot fire flared up behind his home. It is picking up in a spot that hasnt burned and it is starting to really pick up now. Reporter within seconds, he sped off to his backyard, within minutes fire trucks pulled up and helicopters swooped over to dump water on the spot fire. Those helicopters are part of a aerial fleet being used here and it includes a massive jet used to dump fire retardant on huge swaths of land. Darren bailey lives near where pilots come to refill their buckets. Well, we have a creek right back here and there is a wide spot and they are picking up water and taking it to wherever they need to drop it. He said he tried to evacuate yesterday but was too late to get out. This started catching and we kind of got trapped in here. The fire spared his home but now he is worried for his neighbors that did evacuate and he hopes they could return soon. In lower lake, about 175 buildings have been burned down or damaged and power lines are on the road because of snapped poles. Crews are bracing for another tough day. The temperatures are going to be exactly what we experienced yesterday. High temperatures, low relative humidity. Reporter they will get no help from mother nature. Fire officials will be holding two meetings for residents so they could get information, especially those who have been evacuated. The first one tonight at 6 00 at the kelseyville high school. Many evacuated residents are staying in shelters and some dont know if their homes are standing or if they will return to scenes of destruction like this. I got my animals and me and my wife and our child out and im worried about our home. It is the cycle of life. Fire happens. And it is supposed to happen. We try to stop it from happening. But it is going to happen any way. And even at this point we dont know if it is burned and we hope it is not because that was everything. And i just hope that everybody is okay. Reporter lake county residents are all too familiar with having minutes to escape oncoming flames. Last year several wildfires including the valley fire forced people out of homes and devastated the area. Several Fire Departments from the bay area have sent firefighters and equipment to fight the flames in lake county. Er looking at a strike team with several agencies in san mateo county. And they left daly city and crews from marin and santa clara are also on the front lines and another strike team from San Francisco fire left last night. More than 1600 firefighters are now battling that wildfire. And just look at how much has burned in the last year. The clayton fire is burning in the middle of three devastating wildfire, the valley fire, rocky fire and socalled jerusalem fire and that is thousands of acres burned and hundreds of homes destroyed. And one place caring for those is the moose lodge. People gathered at the oun official shelter. Around 50 people stayed there overnight and they have fed some 200 people chased out of homes by fire. Voentss are staffing it and volunteers are staffing it and the food is donated. There are three centers open. She said detectives interviewed her at sons and daughters on wednesday but didnt tell her franks body had already been found. The only thing that really can make this right is for the person who did this to be caught. Reporter franks brother has been in San Francisco from los angeles since friday. My whole mission coming up here was to get gather information. Reporter he has been inside of the stairwell where franks body was found. A lot of graffiti, doors are propped open and the camera that is by the exit was it was spray painted over. What happened inside, it is what vital. A man said he was mugged while using a restroom inside of the mall on friday evening. The 20yearold Man Told Police three young men punched him several times. They rummaged through his backpack and stole School Supplies and he refused medical attention after being hurt. The mt. Diablo School District will pay 1. 2 million to 11 boys who accused a former teacher of molesting them. Joseph martin is serving a 12year prison term after a jury found him guilty of child molestation last year. He was charged with inappropriately touching his male students when he was a teacher at woodside elementary school. The victim sued the district claiming they knew about the abuse and failed to report it and today settlement still needs to be approved by the school board. Tonight a San Francisco woman is in intensive care with critic critical injuries after a massive tree limb crushed her spine and now the city is taking a closer look at the trees in Washington Square park. Reporter dan, the rec and Park Department in San Francisco faces a 1 billion deficit when it comes to deferred maintenance for things like irrigation or infrastructure upgrades. But the director said the trees here at Washington Square park are well maintained. But now they will get a closer look. Today San Franciscos head arborist began a visual inspection of all 60 trees in Washington Square park. This, after a massive 100 pound branch fell on friday, critically injuring a 36yearold mother of two as she watched her children play. Helen and her young daughters were sitting on the same bench and quickly moved to another spot. Washington square in the heart of north beach is one of San Franciscos oldest parks. Established in 1847. The director of rec and parks said the canary pine involved in the tragic incident was healthy. Well have to figure out if there was anything unique about this tree. This is a park that actually has had a lot of tree maintenance and assessments and there was an assessment done in 08 and updated in 10 and tree work in 2013. This park regular said he was here when fridays accident happened. And believes perhaps during persistent drought, the trees need more watering. If they are well watered how come we have so many brown branches up there that arent cut off. This isnt the first time a branch has injured or killed someone. The supervisor represents the north beach district and believes the city should pay now to maintain trees rather than later in tragedies and lawsuits. Today family and friends held a vigil in the downtown area near where the shootings happened. We are in oakland with new details on the investigation. Alyssa. They were attending a party at a gallery that was closing and a group of outsiders that they dont know showed up at the party and started a fight. Friends of 22yearold terrance mccreary, leave flowers and candles for a man shot and killed at a block party early on sunday. Im tried of seeing memorials all over the place. And this time, once again it is for somebody i know. Reporter it happened around 1 00 a. M. Outside of this gallery in downtown oakland. A fight spilled into the street. Three people were shot. Mccreary and 20yearold Craig Fletcher cooks were killed. He was trying to get away and he got he just got hit in the crossfire. Reporter friends say it all started when someone grabbed fletcher cooks girlfriend. He tried to protect her and right as that happened some other guy punched him in the face and he fell to the ground and then a bunch of guys jumped him. And then gunshots. A nearby Business Owner called Police Last Week to try and put a stop to the events before it even happened. She said the gallerys parties have routinely gotten out of hand. The incident is not that happen in one night, it is just i feel like the the feeling on the block is just over the matter of months, it has escalated to this and it is it is a tragedy.
