Gratefulness. San jose residents honor a Fallen Police officer during two different vigils. San jose Police Officer Michael Johnson died after being shot after responding to a call on tuesday evening. Janet tells you more about last nights tributes for johnson. Doze everything of people turned out to honor officer Michael Johnson a few steps from where he was killed. The City Council Members mayor and police chief were also in attendance. They shared a few words. Afterwards this woman shook hands with the officers. She is the shooters niece. The man who shot and killed officer johnson. We just want the community to know that we do care and we are sorry. Golart his her uncle was funny and loving but he also struggled with Mental Illness and copd. On tuesday night he was on the verge of not only taking his life but his aunts, as well. He took not only his life but he also considered of taking his wifes life. They said it means a lot for so many to show solidarity at a time they need it most. It helps all of us to get through the process of grieving and coping with the loss of an officer who was doing his job. It shows everyone that officers are here to help us and to protect us. He gave his life. Here at city hall, hundreds turned out for the second vigil of the night as people paid their respects. The vigil was another reminder to thank those who serve every day. Its a little overwhelming in the sense that there are a lot of people out there that really do care about us. And donations have been pouring in for johnsons family. In the meantime preparations are underway for both johnson and dunham for funerals. In san jose, abc7 news. The Memorial Service for officer johnson will be held next thursday at 11 00 p. M. We are learning more this morning about the man who deliberately crashed a passenger jet into a French Mountain tuesday, killing himself and 149 other people.
