This is the system thats poised to move in once again throughout the evening hours, creating some rough weather. The ground is saturated. Weve seen a number of storm related problems this weekend. A big mess in lafayette caused major frustration for residents trying to return to their homes. Alyssa is live in lafayette with more this morning for us. Alyssa. Chris, that humor mess still needs to be cleaned up. Hour lines are down and they are wrapped around tree branches. Around 63 households are without power this morning in the neighborhood. Theres no utility crews in slight. Police put out a few orange cones and people who live here had to climb over tree branches that covered the road to get to their houses. This is near Quail Ridge Court up in the hills. The storm knocked out power around 8 45 last night. The street is dark and crews will need to not only reperil the lines, but also move the tree out of the road. Its blocking both directions of traffic. It is stat to go rain a little. Im feel a few raindrops and im seeing some dark clouds moving into the area. Its clear the storm is not over. You have to rounder if thats going to slow thing down. Again, these people have been without power since last night. I have not seen one pg e crew, any utility crews this morning. Lisa amin gulezian as a closer look how it was. In walnut creek a 40foot eucalyptus tree fell across two lanes of traffic. The driver of the s. U. V. Tried to avoid it, but couldnt. When they slowed and turned to the left, they hit the tree and were struck from behind by a separate vehicle. Neither driver was hurt, but the car had a lot of damage. In miranda, the rain and heavy wind brought down this massive tree. The tree took out powerlines and leaving 80 families in the park. Jack, this is mimi. Im out in front of the house. But they are prepared. They are communicating through walkietalkies and getting updates from one another. With the tree blocking the only home out of the neighborhood, getting information would otherwise be nearly impossible. How does it look to you . Well, i havent been out because the wires were clear across my bushes and my driveway and the firemen were here and they said dont come out of the house. We have cameras over the house and the fire going, and we are staying warm. Pg e called in extra crews to work on the downed lives. Downed lines. Parents figured out a way to manage the unpredictable situation. They started parking on the streets and walking through because thats the only way to get out and people are going out and getting their kids and stuff like that. Homeowners in miranda had their power restored early this morning. In walnut creek, abc7 news. Take a look at this huge tree that fell in front of the San Ramon Police department. It happened last night and blocked the entire entryway to the building. You can see crews cutting off some of the branches to help with the removal. Several police cars were parked outside of the building when it fell, but luckily no one was hurt. This map shows dozen of Power Outages throughout the bay area. At the height of the storm 53,000 customers were in the dark. Right now about 4800 remain without power. The orange dots on your screen show the areas with the most outages. Pg e has more than 200 crews spread out across the region to handle the outages. The city of San Francisco is fighting water with more water. Yesterday abc 7 news was at mission where the first time they set up the temporary plastic flood barriers filled with water. This is an area prone to flooding and the hope is they will protect the buildings. If it works the city could order more for the next storm. Bay area coastal communities got rain and galeforce winds. Abc7 News ReporterSergio Quintana has details from Half Moon Bay and pacifica. Sheets of rain and wind gusts took down trees in Half Moon Bay. Fire crews cleared a snapped tension line in one neighborhood and then the winds kicked up even more. Up to 48 Miles Per Hour in some places. Its caused Power Outages and triggered other emergencies. A large part of the harbor went dark, including an Indian Restaurant that had to finish the day by flashlight. They took shelter at the local seafood house where there was still power. I dont like the wind at all. I dont like the wind. In fact, one of our branches broke, which made me sad, we are doing fine. We have done a lot of work on the house the last year to make sure it was safe anyway. The two flags blowing in the wind at the harbor masters station are a couple of warnings for boaters. The first is a small craft weather advisory and the second is a Gale Force Wind warning. On the pier a windsock flapped, tarps were snapping, and this man had to lean into the wind to stay upright. Along the coast the wind really kicked up around sunset. I probably noticed the change around 3 00 or 4 00. Traffic was at a crawl at one point in the afternoon. By the wind while they walked the wind while they walked out of the market. Some printed with their umbrellas to keep away the rain. El nino storms have eaten away at the cliff side where these apartments are. The city issued an order to tear them down. Last month a different Property Owner demolished a building next door. The city is taking action on 320 esplanade because the owner of this building has declared bankruptcy and cant afford to tear it down himself. The demolition is set to start on tuesday. In western Sonoma County a large redwood tree destroyed a home, narrowly missing a woman inside. Did happened around 6 00 last night. The homeowner was with her two dogs when she saw the tree falling and quickly ran outside. We are told she is staying with friends this morning. Time right now is 6 08. We are taking a live look outside from the sfo camera, where the rain and winds delayed more than 320 flights and cancelled 70 others yesterday. There were 16 at the Oakland Airport and 1 at the minetasan jose airport. There could be more problems today so check with your airlines before heading out the door. Happening today, there are chain controls from interstate 80 to 7 miles east of truckee. Highway 50 is also affected. You can see why. Petaluma police are searching for thieves who busted through a gun stores front door. It happened yesterday at the independence armory on lakeville street. The owner told the Santa Rosa Press democrat that thieves took 12,000 worth of guns, most semiautomatic handguns and one assault style rifle. Miss are looking for a light agreen 1990s honda acard. A speeding driver caused a crash in the east bay that tore this car to pieces. Abc7 news was there just after noon yesterday when the witnesses say the person lost control and slammed into several trees. The driver was the only one inside and died instantly. Yesterday san jose got a fair share of rain during this storm system. Katie shows us that part of the bay area. With windshield wipers at full speed, its still hard to see through the driving rain. We caught up with the driver of this car after the chp escorted him safely off of 680. He spun out, hit another car, and ended up taking the wrong way in the median. It was a very scary moment but i had reflections of my life at one point. One of several wrecks up and down the slick roadways of the south bay. We got downed trees and downed powerlines and a lot of crashes, a lot of flooding. Another driver had the misfortune of being on the Stevens Creek onramp as this branch came down crashing from above. Just goes to show you dont know what you will run into. Another large branch came down and the sidewalk flooded in front of valley fair mall. You didnt have to be behind the wheel to be in harms way. Ethan was home with his family. We heard a very loud noise. A tree fell on their porch, blocking the front door. They called 911. They came here moments later and rescued us. Firefighters cleared the path to the front door, but someone will have to come out and take away whats left. And snow flurries up into lake county where we have the colder air settling into the valley. As it drains into the valley, it cools off. We are looking at this system here, which is poised to move in later on this evening, sending several periods of some heavy weather in terms of rain and wind headed our way. Once again, the trees are likely to come down with the possibility of Power Outages, and this takes us through your monday morning commute. So wind gusts anywhere from 4 00 this afternoon is when things really get going to San Francisco, right through 10 00. And thats when we will have winds anywhere from 35 to perhaps 40 Miles Per Hour. So not quite as windy, not quite as much rain, but still we are looking at a pretty good system on the way. 50s san jose and Mountain View. Good morning to you. We have the saturated ground from yesterday. Anywhere from about an up. To five inches in the mountains. Thats why from about 6 00 tonight through tomorrow we are looking at the possibility of flooding anywhere in the bay area through monterey. So the surf is up, anywhere from 113 to 15foot swells that are beyond 19 feet by tonight into tomorrow. The next couple of hours scattered showers. Maybe some heavy downpours. A thunderstorm. Theres the front. By 3 00 eats in the north bay. 6 00 the heart of the bay continues to sink south through the 8 00 hour into san jose. And then still lots of showers out there right on through monday morning. So rainfall amounts, once again, will be upwards of over an inch in some sports. Look at san jose and Mountain View. About three quarters an inch to an inch from san rafael to santa rosa.
