Theyre investigating whether the girls shooting was related to a mans murder yesterday. Were going to look at if there is any connection. This is out of control, theres no reason for this. Babies being killed or shot, thats crazy. It doesnt make no sense. Its killing the community. Innocent people, babies, women, everybodys getting caught up in it, in the crossfire. I do have some good news, a Family Member came out and told me the little girl is going to be okay. Shes in stable condition here. The same Family Member wants to thank people for their prayers. Police dont know how many rounds were hit by that car, and they wont tell us who else was in the vehicle. Darryl alums came to the hospital to comfort the family. He founded a support group for mothers who lose children to gun violence. They said what happened was, driving down the street, cars are shooting at each other. And end up shooting the baby. Shes two years old, shes fighting for her life right now. The girl was first taken to highland hospital, you could see her car seat in the back of a sedan. Then she was brought to Childrens Hospital oakland. That cousin told us this was not a retaliation shooting. I asked how she knows that, she would not answer. Police are still investigating if this is related to yesterdays homicide. Police are investigating, people are devastating and asking for you to keep that little girl in your thoughts. Well see clouds increasing, late tomorrow night, that first wave of heavy downpours will arrive overnight into the Early Morning hours on saturday, and after that, the drenching just continues. That was the highest ive ever seen it, ive been here eight years. Two weeks ago, water nearly reached the top of petalumas famous bridge. This city has not flooded big since 2005. Water caused problems as recently as last year. This weekend tides will be in petalumas favor. We dont have any king tides this weekend. Theyre pretty close. Up in that 7 foot range. When the tides are that high, down in the lower petaluma river, it prevents the water from clearing the river as quick and back up more upstream. The Santa Cruz Mountains may get the brunt of this weekends heavy rainfall. David louie is live in santa cruz where Emergency Responders are already talking about the potential for evacuations, david . I know you cant see, but the river here is very calm right now, hydrologists and other experts are saying it could very easily reach flood stage and beyond, very quickly this weekend. Triggering evacuations, there are many other problems that heavy rainfall can create. If you get 12 or upwards of 12 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains, were going to have some really dramatic flows. This is one of 70 monitors the u. S. Geological survey has stationed in the region. The instruments say the river isnt about 7 feet. The level could easily hit 16 to 19 feet this weekend. Well see flows we havent seen in this area in excess of 10 to 15 years. Were talking beyond flood stage . Most likely the flood stage. For long time residents, that is not a good thing. Once this river gets fully filled up, and theres a lot of storms, the trees break, and a lot of times they just log jam. The water immediately backs up. He monitors river and stream conditions along with rainfall gauges which give him the three to 24 hours advanced warning whether to order evacuations. Flooding isnt his only concern with the coming storm. Theres a lot of potential for mass movement, erosion and plant sliding and sloughing off banks. Its a security video that shows a car ramming into a bus stop last month, injuring ten people. Property owner pius lee is urging the city to install steesteel barriers around bus stops protecting people. Similar to those protecting gas pumps. They are not strong enough. You can see the photo when the car hit. It bend. Supervisor aaron peskin says it is impractical to put barriers around all bus stops. The bus shelters are structurally sound. Most bay area locations on sunday alone can expect about an inch and a half to 3 1 2 inches of rain. Santa cruz mountains will see 3 to 5 inches of rain. Thats on top of what will already have fallen saturday. Late tomorrow, going into zap morning. Widespread areas of heavy downpours, indicated by these patches of yellow, that will be a moderate storm, ease up a bit late saturday afternoon, reintensify reorganize sunday morning, by the wee hours of the morning sunday. The rainfall potential from the weekend storms, about 3 to 5 inches of rain expected in the north bay, 2 to 4 inches of rain in the central part of the bay area. South bay totals 1 to 3 inches.
