Ida rothschild has been missing since yesterday. The girls family was camping at samuel p. Taylor state park when ida vanished just after noon. Were joined now by lieutenant pittman over the phone with the sheriffs office. Good morning, lieutenant. Good morning. If you could just update us on whats taken place so far this morning and what the search plans are for today. Well, as you may know, our search efforts never ceased overnight. We continued to have over 100 personnel actively searching throughout the area out here near samuel p. Taylor state park. This morning were anticipating the arrival of upwards and over 120, maybe up to 160 additional new fresh searchers to join our efforts out here today in searching for ida. Obviously with that number of people were going to be able to expand our efforts even beyond the state park boundaries out here. In addition to that were going to go back and go over some of the locations that weve already hit, but in a situation like this, we dont want to leave any stone unturned. Yeah. We are getting an idea of is t. Video were returning over you right now, shows some of the terrain out there. What are some of the chal lechl you face there . The biggest challenge is samuel p. Taylor state park is known its a dense, thick, wooded redwood grow. There are a lot of nooks and crannies throughout this area where someone might become lost or in this case we just cant see the person. So it takes a lot, a number of searchers to conduct really tight, what we refer to as grid searches, looking behind logs, trees, bushes, thats the greatest difficulty that were running into. The best part about this search is the amount of i want to say cooperation, but so many people are stepping forward in helping in the search effort today. Now, are you is this a search for a lost child or is there the possibility that foul play could be involved in this . Well, its a situation where we hope this is the search for a lost child, as sad as that may be on its own. However, obviously from the onset, unfortunately, not just us here in marin county, but we always look t eight from every angle in case there is something that isnt very clear and apparent to us, you know, good law enforcement, we assume the worse and give our direction by that. Of course, you know, the big focus you see out here is the fact that we have so many searchers who are actively searching the woods and terrain surrounding us. Behind the scenes we called in a team of detectives from the Marin County Sheriffs Office who are working with other state and federal agencies, conducting more of a thorough, deep investigation into the background and the activities of the family before and during and even after the child was reported missing. Obviously were looking into those people who are out here staying in the camp ground at the time and not to label any one of these people as being anything than potential witnesses in our investigation. Thank you for your help. All right. In other news this morning, Amtrak Service through richmond is back on schedule after a train slammed into a tractor trailer. The accident happened two miles north of the richmond station just after 4 00 yesterday afternoon. Truck entered the trackway before the crossing lines went down. The driver was not able to get out of the trains path in time. He was not hurt. 131 people who were on board the san joaquin train was okay, too. Fire crews had to put out a fire after two minivans crashed into each other and burst into each other in san jose. It was in the willow glen neighborhood. This is video from firefighters. Authorities say the minivans were traveling at low speeds when they collided with each other. Crews were able to get the fire out in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. One frustrated resident was arrested yesterday afternoon after he threw his car keys at firefighters demanding they save his burning home. Homeowners wooden deck was lost but the house was saved. 100 firefighters did battle and managed to contain the 12acre fire nur the mobile home park. A close call for firefighters in san jose where crews stopped a grass fire from burning a home an emberes sparked an awning at a house. You can see firefighters there on the roof taking defensive action. No one was hurt. Happening today, the city of hayward will break ground on a new fire station and Health Clinic. New fire station 7 on huntwood avenue will replace a deteriorating structure served as the home of one of the citys busiest fire stations for years. New Health Clinic will be located on the grounds. Todays Ground Breaking ceremonies get under way at noon on huntwood avenue. A dog walker is facing an lal abuse, left eight dogs in a van and went shopping at the mall. Alert shopper found the dogs inside the unattended vab at the stones galleria parking lot in San Francisco yesterday. She took these photos and shared them with abc 7 news. The woman called authorities outraged that someone would do such a thing and worried the dogs were in danger. She gets paid for her job. And, you know, finish your job. Take your clients back and go shop until you drop. Animal care and control cited the unidentified dog walker for leaving them in a vehicle without proper ventilation. Growing concern this morning about militants taking control in iraq. President obama is ruling out boots on the ground but is ready to use the military. For the families of so many civilian contractors working in iraq, there is a very worrisome time. Nbc 7 News Reporter has more. Reporter militants calling themselves the islamic fate in iraq and syria, or isis, posted propaganda video showing their fighters celebrating the capture of tanks used by the iraqi military. Fighters pushed south taking over tikrit and moves towards balad on towards baghdad. United states contractors had been trying to get out of danger for days. My brother said that this is all commercial flights that the company was trying to get, but theyre basically unable to find any commercial or any private company willing to fly there. Reporter Mitchell Mccann has been in close contact with his brother michael, firefighter and private contractor with a company. Hes says there has been no u. S. Military support there so michael resorted to social media to focus more attention on their plight. He started a twitter belad600, a reference to the number of u. S. Contractors reportedry stranded there. Michael made it to baghdad but communications hit another problem there. Well, he was in ballad, he was able to access facebook and twitter but in the city of baghdad the government has blocked facebook and twitter. Then he just has text. Neighbors in San Francisco is fed up with raw stew wanlg flooding their home in the city doing nothing about it. Five homes have had sewage problems since 2009.
