Low 60s. Upper 90s inland. A woman remains in Critical Condition this morning off a 100 pound tree limb feel on her in San Francisco. She suffered a serious head wound. We were over the scene in the north beach neighborhood shortly after that branch fell on her yesterday afternoon. Reporter as a city worker cut apart the massive tree branch, Police Officers collected the bags left on the bench by the woman who was hit. The branch fell and hit her in the head. When we arrived she was in and out of consciousness. Reporter was sitting on the bench watching her children play. She were uninjured and she was rushed to the hospital with life threaten injuries. According to the Fire Department she was bleeding from the head wound. A neighbor says shes horrified but not surprised. I think its always just a matter of time and when. These branchs have been falling off. It takes a windy day for the branch to come loose. Reporter just before the branch was cut up city workers were taking measurements of the limb. It was 19 inches years. Its been six years since the trees were evaluated. Would a drought have any effect on its health. We dont think so. Looking at the tree we see it has good moisture content and the wood is healthy. Reporter this is not the first time a branch has injured or killed someone in the city. In 2008 a woman was killed by a falling limb. As crews were cleaning up this accident scene they noticed another broken branch on the same tree but they called in a cherry picker to cut it down. Southea san jose, abc 7 news. New details on that wildfire that raised through the Santa Clara County hills yesterday. It has burned 25 acres and is now 75 contained. Abc 7 news was outside morgan hill when crews in the air and ground rushed to respond to the flames. The fire started in a remote part of Santa Clara County west of morganhill. Reporter you can see the thick smoke rising from the hillside, the fast moving fire erupted just after 3 00. Sandra long had a scarey front row seat. It was so powerful. It like a fire tornado. Even the smoke coming off was like a tornado. Reporter she and her friends were putting up Party Declarations but the mood changed quickly. We had leaves that were actually still on fire landing on us. Reporter it was a dramatic situation even from a distance. A viewer tweeted this photo. Cal fire issued evacuation warnings for 30 homes. Aircraft were quick into the area and helped slow the progression of the fire but the fire made some significant runs back up towards the hill. Reporter on the hill transmission lines. The electricity can work its way through that smoke and have down strikes under there or if the fire itself can compromise the lines and we have energized lines around the firefighters. Reporter power was restored after 1 1 2 hours but power poles are burned and will need to be repaired. Cal fire just released an update on the fire minutes ago. It has burned 72,000 acres and is 60 contained. Thats up from 55 yesterday morning. It started three weeks ago caused by an illegal camp fire. The man blamed for causing last years devastating fire now claims a witness saw a suspicious vehicle in the area before flames broke out. John pench has filed legal papers demanding cal fire turn over evidence seized from his property. An investigation showed an out of code electrical connection caused the fire that killed four people and destroyed 1,300 homes and burned more than 76,000 acres. Officers arrested the man tuesday night. Police say when they arrived to investigate the 61yearolds suspicious behavior he charged at officers. They say he appeared to be intoxicated. They put him in an ankle restraint and took him to the jail. Inside the jail he got involved with a struggle with jail staff and had an unknown type of medical emergency. Paramedics took him to a local hospital where he died. Sheriff investigators say a passenger in this Jeep Grand Cherokee fired a bb gun out a window and hit a person in the head. It happened around 8 00 thursday night. Another incident involving that same jeep happened just a few minutes later. The jeep has tinted windows, chrome wheels and the first number of the license plate is 7. A millionaire tech mogo plans to appeal his conviction. Mysterious blocks found in water troughs in the park in san jose have been found to be a mosquito pesticide. As we reported thursday night park officials feared the blocks were rat poison that someone put into the troughs to harm horses. Tests yesterday revealed the blocks contain an organic pesticide used to eliminate mosquito lava. The story kept changing, the items he ordered kept changing, the reason he wanted a refund was first the food was too dry and then there was a hair in food. Happening today, friends and family of a woman who was shot and killed in texas will hold a celebration of life in her memory. The 30yearold was visiting her fans s fiance in austin when she was killed. Her wedding was set for next month. She was a longtime bus driver for the high school district. Her celebration of life begins at noon in the Performing Arts Center in belmont. A 19monthold boy who fell from a third story window has died of his injuries. He went through a screen in that apartment complex falling 20 feet to the ground thursday morning. He died later that night at stanford medical center. The window he fell through was built close to the floor and authorities are calling this a tragic accident. More than two dozen people need a place to live while work is being done to fix their homes damaged in a traffic accident. The impact from the crash weakened part of a fiveunit Apartment Building on chestnut street. A car hit two parked vehicles and that shoved those parked cars into the building around 10 15 yesterday morning. Unable to occupy it until the owner and contractor can repair it. Were concerned about the wiring getting stressed and gas damage. Here is another look at the scene. The driver of the car went to the hospital after getting hurt. That accident is now investigation. For the second time in less than a month someone has gone to a busy san jose street to cut down a row of trees. A total of 46 trees have been sliced with a clean cut to the trunk. Environmentalists are appalled and a reward is being offered. Reporter the damage has spread down both sides of the street where volunteers have planted 46 trees to beautify the neighborhood. 23 trees were cut nearly a month ago and now the matching 23 on the east side have been cut. This does not happen in just a minute. It would take up to half an hour to saw all of these trees each time and i know that this is a busy street that has even in the dead of night there are theres traffic. Reporter it may be a busy street but no one has reported seeing anything suspicious. A 5,000 reward is being offered by a council member. This mean and unkind vandal set the city back from continuing to beautify things. We will replant the trees and we will set up a camera. Reporter he funded the project from his own office budget. The trees were planted by volunteers in the spring. Volunteers came by to water the trees and they discovered the vandali vandalism. They have planted 8
