Plenty of sunshine and about 50 degrees. As we take a look at live doppler 7hd notice there are clouds in the form of fog. Not only in santa rosa, but also in the east bay. Livermore up to five miles visibility. Thats an improvement, as well as santa rosa, you are less than a quarter mile. Things are definitely clearing out around the bay with the light winds and the moisture we had some more visibility for much of the morning but sunshine on the which for all of you. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s. We will see upper 50s by noontime, low 50s to 60s around the bay. Theres a slight possibility of rain. We will talk about it when i go over the forecast in a few minutes. Thank you. We begin with developing news out of oakland. A burned body was found near the park. It was discovered after 10 00 last night on skyline boulevard near the gate of the redwood regional park. A car was found nearby. The east Bay Regional Park Police department is the agency investigating. More developing news, there was a one alarm fire in san jose. It started just after 3 00 this morning at an apartment complex on tucson drive. Two of the buildings four units have burned. 15 people from all of the apartments have had to leave because power and gas service had to be cut off. The cause of that fire is under investigation. We are learning more about a san jose firefighter arrested last week. 53yearold mario cuesta was arrested thursday. Hes accused of multiple crimes, including selling meth to kids. And also sex crimes. He was also a volunteer at a south bay church. Abc7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian spoke with some of the parishioners and has the latest. Reporter as parishioners left saturday evening mass, they read the Church Bulletin and they quickly found this insert drafted by the san jose diocese. Stating that a background check was done on mario before he started volunteering in 2012. And that nothing had been flagged. You hear things happening all over. Of course, when its that close, it hits home. You know, we just have to pray, thats all we can do. He worked in the my industry of music and sang regularly at saint leos the great. Thursday agents from a special task force, which included the department of justice, arrested. Cuesta in the administration building. They seized his computer and searched his home. The 53yearold is accused of selling meth to High School Students and having sex with a 17yearold. God will judge him. We can just pray for him. He was a community outreach. Person for the Fire Department and worked with neighborhood associations, schools and church groups. Its very unfortunate being a firefighter because lots of young people, especially young men and women, want to be firefighters. Mario cuesta will make his First Court Appearance on tuesday. Lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. Muni has resumed normal service after being shut down yesterday following a fatal accident. Morning the corner identified victim at a 57yearold mendes. He was hit and killed by a train at the powell street station. Abc7 News Reporter tells us it tied up some riders headed to the chinese new years parade on Market Street. Reporter muni Subway Service was restored after the body was removed from the tracks after 6 00 p. M. The San Francisco m. T. A. Said a man was hit by the train as it approach the powell station. We talked with this man and three other people offcamera who said they were friends of the man who died. They told us he was homeless and had stored a backpack under the muni platform and got hit trying to retrieve it. The director couldnt confirm details but he said its tough to keep an eye on every nook and cranny in the station. Because of fire laws and security, some of the doors and rooms down here must remain open so occasionally we do find. People who put belongings where they shouldnt. They said they try to clear out any homeless encampments they find as quickly as possible. Its especially bad when it rains. Police shut down four muni stations just after 3 00 p. M. Which is about the same time lanes on Market Street started getting diverted in preparation for the chinese new years parade. That made for a confusing situation for riders. We are trying to get to castro but we arent sure how to get there bus we arent familiar with the area. Did they tell you how to get there . Not really. I mean, they explained all the complicated things but i just want like a direct answer. One person was also injured in the station. A station agent aboard the train was hurt when it came to an abrupt stop and was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Abc7 news. New figures from the state Health Officials show that 248 243 people have died here from the flu this season. Authorities are investigating an addition until 41 deaths that are possibly flu related. Here in the bay area 51 deaths have been reported. Santa clara county tops the list with 14. Authorities say it is still not too late to get a flu shot. A growing list of stores is connected to a massive beef recall linked to a petaluma slaughterhouse. One of the stores is Browns Valley market in napa. It is one business identified statewide that could have received tainted beef from rancho feeding corporation. Browns meat manager questioned the recall itself. It goes from january 1, 2013 and january 1, 2014. Thats a year. 99 of the people have already eaten that, its gone. I mean, whats the whole point . The usda said the petaluma slaughterhouse rancho is recalling 8 Million Pounds of Meat Products processed diseased and unhealthy animals without a full federal inspection. A Washington Company is recalling nearby 227,000 pounds of processed egg product because of possible salmonella contamination. It was made between february of last year and this year. It was shipped to military installations nationwide. It carried the brand name ova easy. Prosecutors say they will try again after a florida jury failed to convict a man of murder in a socalled loud music trial. Michael dunn was convicted of three counts of attempted Second Degree murder. The jury found the man guilty of shooting into a car outside a gas station back in 2012 after an argument over loud music coming from the car. Dunn was charged with fatally shooting 17yearold jordan davis of marietta, georgia. He claimed he acted in selfdefense. A mistrial was declared on the firstdegree murder charge. Bart is hiring a consultant time to find out why their labor talks were so unsuccessful and so expensive. The last round of talks led to two strikes, a contract dispute and cost bart more than 8 million. A cost included consulting fees and a third went to lead negotiator, toms hawk, whose contract was not renewed after it became clear he missed the provision giving workers six weeks a year of paid family year. It is the year of the horse and hundreds of thousands lined the streets of San Francisco last night. It was the annual chinese new years parade. It headed west on Market Street, then to geary, down post and ended in chinatown on kearney street. More than 100 entrants took part in the procession. There were dozens of floats, marching bands and lion dancer and city officials and miss chinatown usa. Some have been coming for decades. Never gets boring. Its the best. At night, plus the noise and lights. The parade ended with the golden dragon. Its 268 feet long. It takes a team of more than 100 men and women to carry it. It happened yesterday evening in lake county. Officials say seven people were on top of the ridge is that activated the avalanche. Three people suffered broken bones and two walked away unharmed. Two others are unaccounted for. Rescue crews say they have to figure out the safest way to clear the area. Turning now to the blizzard that struck southern new england two days after it dumped more than two feet of snow. We have the latest on the Winter Weather from connecticut. Just when will it end . They said its had a negative effect on individuals and businesses alike. For individuals theres lost wages, theres the increasing costs of heating homes. And as much as 4. 5 billion in addition until spending will go into heating bills this winter. Then you have businesses. The airlines, for example, have suffered massive problems with the flight cancellations. And cities are experiencing it. They are paying more to clear the snow. You will notice that the storm track still staying to the north for the next several days. A holiday tomorrow. That looks pretty nice. More sunshine. But tuesday we will see some increasing clouds and a weak weather system to the north. That wants to bring down a little bit of shower activity come tuesday night into ukiah and cloverdale. But by overnight you will notice perhaps maybe some drizzle along the coast and then beyond this not only the High Pressure builds in, builds in pretty strongly. Temperatures around the bay today, once again pretty mild. Getting rid of the cloud cover in the mountains. 49 in tahoe. Look for 60 monterey. Building clouds in Southern California and 76 there. Back home a look for temperatures ranging from the upper 50s Half Moon Bay. Northwest winds keeping it pleasant today with 61 in vallejo, 63 fremont. About the same in san jose and the accuweather 7 day forecast, a nice day for president s day and then for tuesday here comes the next slight chance of a shower. But really its probably going to amount to more drizzle and mist along the coast. Wednesday, thursday and friday High Pressure builds back and the numbers get even milder.
