Good morning. Hi, everyone. We are starting off with plenty of fog, mist and drizzle. But the radar is situated above the low level moiso we arent picking it up here. But its been in santa rosa, oakland and hayward. This morning still very, very foggy. We will hold on to the low clouds and the higher clouds right on through the late Morning Hours we also have a Coastal Flood Advisory as the king tides arrive today. It will be higher than normal tides. This is a view from downtown. We had some sun earlier. We will get into partly cloudy skies today with mild temperatures already in the upper 50s. Look for mid60s today. And today begins a pattern change. Ill explain coming up. Lisa, thank you. The latest on the killings of two new York City Police officers. Killings come at a tense time when theres a bitter tension between police and protesters who are protesting what they say is police brutality. We have the latest. Overnight police oriolesg officials calling it the site ever an ambush. An execution of two of its officers. They were, quite simply, assassinated. Targeted for their uniform. According to the nypd, the two officers, wenjin liu and rafael ramos were on their lunch brick when a man walked up, gun in hand and opened fire. Striking both officers in the head at pointblank range. S. W. A. T. Teams patrolled and surge to go the team, facing a fleeing man to a nearby subway situation still armed with his semiautomatic handgun. This video capturing moments passengers dropped to the ground in fear. Police moved in and officials said the man shoots himself in the head. He rushed into an ambulance to the same Brooklyn Hospital as the two officers he shot, where all three men were pronounced dead. The attack ending a ninehour interstate shooting spree that began outside of baltimore 200 miles away around 5 45 saturday morning. The man allegedly shot and wound his exgirlfriend in her apartment, and escaping before police arrived. About 2 10 pings from his phone led police to discover he has made it all the way to brooklyn, new york. The Department Said it called new york police to warn them of threats he made online. That warning never made it to the two officers, shot execution style just over 30 minutes later. And that, parents of officer liu, the woman he recently married, we met the wife of officer ramos, we met his 13yearold son who couldnt comprehend what happened to his father. The new york mayor, some say, have blood on his hands. And this from new york former governor tweeting these barbaric acts are predictable outcome of the rhetoric. Abc news, brooklyn, new york. And developing news out of florida where authorities are investigating after a Police Officer was shot and killed. If happened around 3 00 a. M. Eastern time in the area of cobin springs located northwest of tampa. A suspect has been taken into custody. No word yet on what led to that shooting. Several Law Enforcement agencies all over the country, including the San Francisco police department, are wearing black bands on their badges this morning to mourn the two officers killed yesterday in new york. Developing news out of concord. A man is recovering after being shot outside a bart station. It happened on grant street in the area with cabs pick up bart passengers. Police say a man and his friends were waiting for a taxi when a car pulled up alongside them. Someone inside that car shot the man in the leg after they exchanged words. The vehicle is described as a black or dark colored fourdoor sedan. New details this morning. Police in martinez are looking for a gunman that killed a young woman friday night. Police say 18yearold judith bean was shot to death. A second victim, a 25yearold sherman parker, was wounded. He is expected to recover. According to our media partner, the mercury news his Fatal Shooting happened on the fifth anniversary of his older brothers murder. He was tortured and killed by a group of people and the body dumped on the rural road. Beans father said he does not believe his daughters murder is connected. Berkeley police are investigating the suspicious death of a 20yearold man found outside his home near the cal campus early yesterday morning. Officers were called to Piedmont Avenue and dwight way. Hes been identified as apoorve agarwal. Hes believed to be a student at u. S. Berkeley. Police say he may have been drinking. An autopsy is scheduled. This is the second death near campus in a month. Another 20yearold man was found dead after a large party at a fraternity in november. The man was an Aerospace Engineering student at u. C. Davis. The man was celebrating his birthday and visiting friends in berkeley. In oakland firefighters are investigating a house fire. It began just before 8 00 last night at a home on 89th avenue. No one was inside at the time and there were no injuries. Outrage in napa this morning after a letter, a questionnaire, sent to tenants at a selfstorage facility. As we first reported last month, the tenants have not been allowed into those units because of earthquake damage. Now what many are calling a slap in the face. Abc7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian has the details. I consider this to be extortion. You know, its like ransom for our stuff. Tempers flared at this impromptu meeting in napa last night as they sounded off about the letter from management. They were told, that means that to get stored property out of the building or tenants will have to help foot the bill. Pretty shocked they are going to try to make us pay for this. What they suggested isnt cheap. It amounts to twelve times a persons monthly rent. Does anyone agree that our main goal is to try to get our stuff out . Building 900 was red tagged after the earthquake this august. Tenants have no idea what condition their possessions are in since they havent had access. Storage owners insist the building needs to be demolished but a specialized crew can help tenants go in and recover what they can safely. The fact their building did not stand up is their problem. We need to have access to our belongings. Bad planning on their part shouldnt constitute an emergency on ours. Most cant afford to pay anywhere from 700 to 2,000 for access, which is outlined in this questionnaire. The mayor has agreed to check if the citys Earthquake Relief Fund can help pay for this. We can spend a lot of time arguing over who should pay for this. I would rather have our focus be on how are we going to get the stuff out of there. In napa. Lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. At a Mobile Home Park in redwood city, flooded evacuees are back home but reminders of the damage are still all around them. Sandbags and water pumps line the rv motor home park on east bay shore road. This is the result of all the recent storms. There is still lots of sandy water that needs to be pumped out. Sandbags are there to prevent flooding in the next storm. Many of the people who live there are wearing new clothing today. Volunteers with a foundation stopped by yesterday to drop off clothing foundation. They saw the news reports at all the flooding at the Mobile Home Park and wanted to help replace some of the items people lost. The bay area is racing for some of this years highest tides this week. The high water is already causing flooding in mill valley. The high tides, also known as king tides, are expected in just a matter of minutes and expected to continue through tuesday. Experts say the preview of what the bay area want expect as global warning causes sea levels to rise. King tides are also expected in midjanuary and midfebruary. So i guess, lisa, people just have to be on the lookout. Yes, definitely. And be on the lookout with the fog this morning. Lake tahoe we have a little rain around blue canyon but right now we are looking at mild temperatures, not mid30s to upper 40s around truckee. According to the independent journal,david perkins was placed on a 21 day quarantine by marin health officials. They say its just precautionary. They have no reason to believe he has ebola. Lava flowing in a rural hawaii town is continuing to flow down and it is expected to reach a Shopping Center in about eight days. Officials say that the lava has advanced about 180 yards since yesterday as it makes its way to marketplace. Most merchants have closed or are preparing to close. But the toy program is short by more than 4,000 needed to get to those families when they return for the gifts this week. The hardest category for us to fill is for teen children, so 13 to 17. Skiers and snowboarders in tahoe must feel like kids on Christmas Morning right now. They have had a ton of snow in the last few days. Nearly all the major ski resorts are expected to open by the end of today. Boreal has seen as least a foot of fresh snow over the last five days. Squaw, alpine and kirkwood have seen at least two feet. Hey, get out there and do your thing, lisa argen. You know, the overnight lows have been really mild. So the snow make not so great and unfortunately we are beginning to turn a corner with our weather so dry conditions for the sierra nevada. But we are looking at a radar that doesnt seem like there is a lot going on. But you know what . Beneath the radar beam weve had mist and drizzle from light rain and plenty of fog out there. Today the shortest lent of sunlight and it will be 9 32 as the solstice arrives after 3 after this afternoon. And we are going to get milder and sunnier within the next couple of days. The pattern will be changing. Right now fog is a problem from the east bay valleys. Oakland halfmile visibility and Half Moon Bay a mile there. Two mile visibility and 3 miles at the airport. Delays at sfo. Due to the rain we had earlier this morning its helped the visibility. Sunshine around mountain view. Central coast is all clear so we are looking at a few peaks of sun and limited parts of the area, up by the delta as well. Exploratoryium camry begins to lighten up. We should see overnight lows in the 30s in the north bay this time of year. Take a look at mt. Tam. It looks awfully dreary. It will take toward the second half of the afternoon for some areas to see the clouds lift. And the sun filter through. But its already sunny in parts in the bay. And by the afternoon we will call it partly cloudy. We also have some high tides to talk about in sausalito, mill valley, as we look for it right now to be high tide actually around ocean beach. Golden gate bridge camera you can see partly cloudy skies and the visibility has improved here. Mist and drizzle with fog this morning. Winter arriving after 3 00. And it will be dry and quiet to start the season. An unusually warm overnight lows this morning will help us boost into the 60s with a little sunshine this afternoon. Coastal flood advisory beginning today for localized flooding along the shoreline here and inside the bay due to the king tides today, tomorrow and into tuesday. Be advised of that. But we are also looking at changes for the bigger picture. As you can see, the bigger in of High Pressure beginning to build. It will fish into the eastern pacific and that will allow for fair case capping a lid on the atmosphere and aleutian for stable air. Foggy mornings and partly cloudy averages. It will follow suit for tuesday and into wednesday. We will get a little bit of a weak system moving our way to spring some light showers in the north bay. 63 in san jose. The low 630s from san mateo, and San Francisco 63. Partly to mostly cloudy in parts of the north bay with 60 in calistoga. Near east bay the fog will lift in the next couple hours. 63 union city. By noontime you should see more sunshine and 64 in concord. Theres the forecast. Patchy fog in the morning, sunny averages through tuesday. A weak system president bushing the north bay after then and that leads to cooler temperatures, dry conditions Christmas Day, friday and saturday.
