San francisco and the peninsula, san bruno, it has been light but some pockets of moderate rain from redwood city and further south for our friends around haywood, its coming. In the south bay it will be at your doorstep the next hour. Accompanying the cold front some gusty winds. Up to 38 miles an hour at sfo. Two hour delays here and we are just getting going with the wind. We have a wind advisory and ahead of the front out of the southwest. Thats why weve been so mild. Behind the front temperatures will tumble and we will continue to drop. Wind advisory through 10 00 and because of this you may have to hold on to the Steering Wheel pretty tight and you could see some downed trees down there. Ill detail the rain for you in your neighborhood coming up. Carolyn. All right. Here are some tips to be prepared before a powerful storm hits from pg e. Have a flashlight with batteries ready to go in case the power goes out. Keep your cell phone charged and have a portable charging device handy. If you have a stand by generators make sure pg e checks to make sure its installed safely to avoid damage to your home. As the latest storm hits the bay area, dangerous rip currents are pounding the coast. Abc7 news was at fort point in San Francisco yesterday where big waves slammed the shoreline. There were waves up to 17 feet from Sonoma County down to monterey. In Sonoma County flooding blocked north and southbound lanes of highway 1 yesterday. Rising water from the river has flooded lowlying areas of jenner. We will go out with an excavator to go out to prevent flooding but with the heavy surf we attempted to do it last tuesday and we werent able to do it because of the high surf conditions. Weve been monitoring the site ever since. The county water agency hopes to get the heavy equipment out as soon as possible. Developing news out of castro valley. The the chp is reporting a fatal crash. It happened just before 6 00 this morning. Officers say a car slammed into a concrete barrier. 164th avenue is now closed in both directions until further notice. And more developing news out of fairfield. Two people are dead after a threecar accident on northbound 680 last night at gold hill road. The chp said a jeep was speeding when it collided with a town car, which caused a Chain Reaction and then hit a toyota. The force of the collisions trapped the two people inside the town car. It burst into flames. The other two drivers are in stable condition. Officers believe drugs or alcohol could be to blame. Authorities have arrested this man, carle diale junior, of setting a mosque on fire. He burglarized a building on friday. Witnesses say a fire bomb was thrown at the mosques front door. They described hearing a loud boom before seeing flames. Firefighters contained the flames to the buildings front lobby. Several people inside escaped unharmed. Sadness, actually. Its a family place. Its a social place for us. We just have to work on rebuilding it again the mosque is about 75 miles from San Bernardino where 14 people died in a terrorist attack by islamic extremists earlier this month. State and federal authorities are working together in the investigation. It happened after september 11th, now its happening again. Sikhs being wrongly identified as muslims are being racially profiled and intimidated. Now theres a nationwide alert for sikhs to be careful. Abc7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian has the story. Sikhs are not muslims. Just as not all muslims are terrorists, sikhs are not muslims. But after a terrorist attack, sikhs often suffer the backlash. It happened after september 11th. Last week a building in Orange County was vandalized. Isis was spraypainted on this property. In napa county a 24yearold vallejo resident faces drunk driving and child endangerment charges. They say the person was under the influence while driving 28 students home on a school bus friday. Abc7 News ReporterSergio Quintana shows us the tough diagnosis the family faces. This is the fourth year to the cozzolinoss have sold Christmas Trees at half moon ba bay. This year stephanie has kept an eye on business from inside this little green box. I like your little booth there. Its nice. [laughter] she would like to be out on the lot but the booth protects her from the elements. I go in the trailer because its too cold. I just need to make sure i dont get sick. That will delay my treatment. At 24 years old she was diagnosed with advanced Breast Cancer in october. Her husband, tony, is still rattled by the diagnosis. You wish you could blink and its all over. And shes healed. We know thats not the case. It is going to take time. This battle with cancer add ed added a nuisance of insurgency for this crop of Christmas Trees. Christmas tree season stretches from the day after thanksgiving until christmas eve. But the cazzolinos hope to have all of their trees sold by the end of next week. Tony hopes to spend as much time with stephanie as possible because her treatments are going to intensify. The good news is shes part of an Experimental Program at stanford, and her mom said its great to see her family pull together to help. It sounds so corny how important family and friends are, but its made a huge difference for us. Since word got out of her illness, the community has rallied around. Weve had volunteers down here almost every single day. Friends, family. They even started a go fund me for us. I would like to thank you to everyone who supports us. Its been a little lighter but its going to pick up and finally from fremont to union city and hayward. You have light rain, gusty winds all morning long. And further south for our friends in santa clara, saratoga. The rain is picking up for you and it will last through the late Morning Hours along with the winds. Higher elevations looking at some snow right now. Its been so warm. Weve been in the warm sector and behind it we will get the colder air and with that we could see some snow on mt. Hamilton this evening. So the winds here up to 40 miles an hour and traveling not advised in the sierra nevada. Look how quickly this fills in. Its a fast mover as it pushes through the central bay right now. It will continue to hold together as it pushes through the south bay. The winds right now up to 47 miles an hour at sfo. Delays over two hours. And even with the frontal passage we will have gusty winds as it shifts to the northwest. You notice everywhere that hayward to Mountain View it is breeze breezy. Its incredible. We havent seen rain like this for years in San Francisco. You notice point race, half moon bay, 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour wind gusts and thats why the National Weather service has kept the wind advisory until 10 00 tonight. A live look outside where we are in the exploratorium arena. Temperatures in the 50s the temperatures will drop throughout the afternoon. The warmest numbers already with us are past and we are looking at the warm spot, livermore 56. As the cold front pushes in we are getting the cooler air, possibility of a thunderstorm. Maybe a few sunny breaks and then the dusting perhaps in the Higher Elevations with the low snow levels. We will be dry for the next couple of days. Today this is a moderate storm with anywhere from a halfinch or three quarters inch of rain. 9 00, heres the band of heavy rain that continues to push into the east bay and south bay through 10 00. 11 00, still with us or milbrae and cupertino and down through big sur throughout the early afternoon hours. Check it out with a few breaks in the clouds. We could see a thunderstorm, unstable air and thats when we could see some of the lower snow levels. Halfinch to three quarters of an inch throughout the day today with the moderate storm. The sierra nevada, the snow just getting going in the next hour or two. It will switch over.
