We are waking up to some rain across the bay area. Heres meteorologist lisa argen. Good morning. A steady stream of moisture while you have been sleeping. The first wave pushed through. Almeda and Contra Costa County particularly wet this morning. We are taking you into 580 right now. Livermore valley, highway 84, looking at some pretty good rain. Westward toward belmont and redwood city. 880 in union city. Look at this still hill. And the peninsula, 280 down through portola valley. And in the south bay its been steady light rain with pockets of heavier rain. The Santa Cruz Mountains really looking at the moisture being pumped in. We will continue to see a cold front push through the area today. A little bit of a break in the north bay with a height rain here. But this isnt even here yet. Thats why we have a 2 on the storm impact scale. Anywhere from a third to upward of two inches of rain and gusty winds. And we will talk about the sierra snow in feet. Coming up next. Thanks, lisa. Check this out. Mud and rockslides across the area, particularly in the east bay and north bay. Two families in meraga have been forced out of their homes because the hill is sliding. They are blame a loulou till till for the problem. We explain. Weve been advised by a structural engineer. Right now two homes along augusta drive in the Country Club Neighborhood are sliding. White tarps are trying to stop it from falling more. The lower deck of tims home is in shambles. He moved his furniture and kids , his family out. Kids blankets, umbrellas, all the necessities. Make sure we have things covered now the next few days. But according to homeowners, the problems didnt start with heavy rains. It started in january when portions of the homes started sliding. They only started tarp it this week. Neighbors say its too little too late. The engineers out here, what are they doing about it other than putting Yellow Police tape around trees . I reached out to the city. They said the city of meraga had not issued the evacuation order. She didnt know that the situation changed. She went on to say, quote, we did what our experts told us to do, to wait. We took action this week and are anxious to take the next steps as soon as we can. Not knowing what is going to happen is hard to accept for many on this street. Wonder what the future will look like. We dont know if we can reoccupy or if we will have to establish a home somewhere else. Residents are look for answers as soon as possible. Abc7 news. In the north bay crews cleared a tree branch that was marking a main road. Butterfield road was closed until early this morning. The branch fell around 8 00 last night. It came down on to a pickup truck, smashing the back window. Crews removed what was left of a large tree that crushed a home in pacific an on friday. The people who lived there removed their belongings. The home was so badly damaged, its no longer liveable. Crews continued work on an abandoned apartment building, of which is preallot careiously situated on a column bling cliff. We have a look at what crews have an able to accomplish. They tore away of wood and walls at 320 esplanade avenue in pacifica. These are the last days for the property. Its been an eyesore and i was worried it would fall into the ocean and mute the ocean. Crews stripped the building of any toxic materials. The building is a pre1960s vintage and they have lead in the times and they have asbestos in the flooring. This property was evacuated years ago by the city because the cliff it was built on continues to crumble into the pacific ocean. One woman who helped them move remembered how scary it was to look out the book door. We were right on the ocean. When she went out her back door it was like the recent series of storms have taken a faster toll than anticipated. In february the Property Owner tore down 330 esplanade next door, but he declared bankruptcy so the city of pacifica stepped in. The City Engineer said the demolition job is going as planned. We started with the middle part so the outer shell will be the protection against the wind. We dont want the debris flying. 310 esplanade was declared inhabitable in january. Its not clear when that property will also face demolition. Abc7 news. As we mentioned earlier, one area thats getting a serious are storm battering is in the north bay. This is near the lake alpine dam. The chp had to close the road on both sides of the slide during the cleanup. And take a look. This is a reservoir spilling over in marin county yesterday afternoon. A couple weeks ago the lake wasnt even close to being full. Parts of the road will remain closed until tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for sending us your pictures and videos all weekend long. The shootings happened around 6 30 yesterday morning. Investigators say the victims are 76yearold William Johnson and his 63yearold tenant. Johnson owns the home and runs a medical Equipment Rental company out of his house. Both men were shot several times, but are expected to recover. Deputies say crime in the area is unusual. Very strange. Very shocking. We dont get many calls at all out here, let alone of this nature. One victim walked to a neighbors home to call 911. Deputies are trying to find the gunman and the car he stole from johnson. Its a 2006 green jaguar Station Wagon with the california license number 7lwv742. Gunmen opened fire on a party bus in oakland yesterday morning, injuring four people. It was the eighth shooting on interstate 80 since november. Investigators say the bus was just east of the bay bridge in oakland when a red s. U. V. Pulled up. The people inside opened fire. One of the four victims was critically injured. Police and ambulance crews on the scene say some of the bus passengers were downright hostile. A suspect vehicle, several of them were actually somewhat combative with Law Enforcement and one even assaulted one of our officers as we were attempting to interview her. Before yesterdays incident, seven people were shot on interstate 80. One person died last month. Police say the incidents are gang related. Chances are you are a little groggy this morning. Police in san jose shot and wounded a man they say shot at them with a highpowered assault rifle. It happened yesterday morning on meridian and fruitdale. It was outside a restaurant on the south side. Police say the man driving this muss stabbing was wanted tore shooting at someone near a convenience store. When officers stopped him police say he refused to follow their commands and started shooting at them. We are fortunate we did not lose an officer last night. The vehicle car stopped, the officers followed their training. Three officers returned fire, wounding the man. No officers were hurt. This was the citys second officerinvolved shooting in just a week. A Newark Police officer shot and killed a man suspected of robbing a kfc restaurant. Officers arrived to see the man leaving the restaurant and told him to stop. Police say the officer opened fire after the robber pointed a gun at him. Six people are recovering this morning after they say they had difficulty breathing at a Holiday Express hotel. Some said their eyes and throws felt like they were burning. The people said they felt like they were burning. Firefighters say the six who suffered symptoms told them there was a pepperlike odor in one of the hallways but crews did not find any hazardous you substance. Investigators are checking whether something in the air or ventilation system was responsible for the smell. A man faces charges after people say he crashed his snowmobile into two mushers in alaska. The person said he did not intentionally drive into the dog teams, but he blacked out while returning from everything doctoring. The car killed one dog and injured another. The team said the car ran into them more than once. They thought it was intentional. The racers are more than halfway through the 1,000mile race. Abc news welcomes the return of an irish tradition. Yesterday the city held their 165th annual st. Patricks day parade. Alyssa harrington was there and had a look at some of the highlights. In a city with irish history, the annual st. Patricks day parade brings out a little irish in everyone. A crowd favorite, the dancers. I talked to some proud parents who watched as their little one perfected her kicks. Amazing. Shes so happy out there right now. The father is from ireland. Its an amazing city and what an amazing parade to have in a city like this. The rain is away. A moving moment when counsel general philip grant marched alongside First Responders of the berkely balcony collapse that killed a group of irish students. He spoke with abc7s Michael Finney about the bond that was created in the midst of that tragedy. Amazing men and women of great courage and great sympathy and understanding. They have been by our side ever since. Families waving flags draped in green, catching beads and candy tossed from floats. At the Childrens Hospital Oakland Research Institute people shaved their heads to show support to kids who lost their hair to chemo, and they also raised money to pay for cancer research. With st. Patricks day only four days away, the chigago river is already getting its green on. Thousands turn out on both sides of the river to watch crews dye the river green. It dates back to 1962. The powder used to dye the river is environmentally safe. It goes in orange and turns kelly green once it hits the water. Of the chicago parade kicked off yesterday. Rain here in the bay area often means snow up in the sierra. And here ski resorts were packed yesterday. Kirkwood Mountain Resorts sent us this video where even the dogs wanted to play in the snow. The base depth is more than 100 inches, and even more snow fell overnight. Lisa is here now with the full accuweather forecast. The snow is really coming down, and the rain from the south bay to the east bay getting enhanced this morning. Periods of rain. Heres a live look at live doppler hd. Sup setting at 7 16. Remember, yeah, we set our clocks ahead. Heres a look at the yellows here in the east bay where weve had some pretty good downpours. All the way from the san ramon valley, 680 and walnut creek, and further south into pleasanton. Pleasant hill, and looking at foothill road with a good downpour around 680. The dumbarton bridge, the heart of the bay. And back westward on to 280. Its redwood city, san carlos, belmont, woodacre, redwood city very wet. And here we are in the south bay from santa clara to san jose, willow glen and park avenue. Light rain here but its been steady all morning long. Take a look at the Central Coast here and Santa Cruz Mountains. It continues. Pushed some up to the east and thats where you are getting the heavier rain in the east bay. The north bay has not had as much activity but steady height rain from highway 1601, novato, southward. And up into the delta. We have a wind advisory around the delta and fairfield. We will get to that this a moment. You see a little bit of a break up north towards cloverdale. The front has to push through. The storm impact scale rates this one pretty good, a 2 on the storm impact scale. A third of an inch to upwards of two inches. Gusty south winds 20 to 30 miles an hour. Boy, is the soil saturated, marin, sonoma, napa county. The flood advisory continues until 6 00 tonight. Certain some concerns there. Its been raining almost nonstop there since the overnight hours. Heres the wind advisory from 11 00 to 6 00 for the delta, and the winds gusting to over 30 miles an hour. A lot going on. This is statewide as it pushes through the Sacramento Valley into the sierra nevada. And on the coast its high surf through the evening with swells anywhere from 13 to 18 feet. A live look outside. They are loving it in san jose with numbers in the 50s with the light rain all morning long. Heres a look at the golden gate bridge. Doesnt look too bad right now. But a lot of activity in the east bay this morning. 52 in fairfield right now. 56 in livermore. So the rest of the morning is going to be wet. Here we are the next hour with light rain. Here comes a push of more moderate rain as the front finally tries to push on through the north bay. 1 00 you can see the heavier cells on the peninsula. Its still with us, 3 00. And then by 5 00 it looks like it wants to wind down. And we have scattered afternoon showers. Looks like this one inch may materialize in parts of the east bay. You see where the green is around the diablo range. And the higher elevations. Otherwise low elevations look at a quarter to a third of an inch. But still a nice little soaker we are getting throughout the day today. A winter storm warning keeping the snow just coming all day long, into tomorrow, with an additional three feet for donner and kirkwood. Breezy winds and quite gusty later on today. The accuweather sevenday forecast, we are looking at more downpours throughout the day today. A few Early Morning showers tomorrow. We will need some time to dry out. But the week ahead looks sunny and warmer. But we are tracking another system that looks like it may visit us next weekend. Be careful out there.
