As we head into a potentially critical vote this week. The president , through a combo of twitter and fox news, putting the pressure on his fellow republicans, and the democrats, who he calls obstructionists. And speaking of the democrats, senator Bernie Sanders out on the stump, launching a threestate tour to mobilize opposition to the health care bill. The bill is expected to face a big test early this week with the Congressional Budget Office releasing its quote unquote score. Thats washington speak for the official estimate of how much the plan with cost. And how many people may lose coverage. Health care is one of many stories this morning. The Supreme Court is wrapping its ninemonth term tomorrow. We may learn if any of the justices are retiring. That would be big news. Meanwhile, the russia story is not going away. But as the Senate Begins to get ready to vote on its version of the bill, it doesnt look good. As the final push begins for the senate bill to repeal and replace obamacare, the gop appears to be well shy of the votes they need. Of the 52 republicans in the senate, five have said theyll vote no. Four others have expressed concerns. No democrats support the measure at all. Bernie sanders, for one, out there campaigning against it. This bill is a moral outrage. It must be defeated and together, we will do just that. Reporter but the white house is playing hard ball. Well get it done, even if we dont have any help from the democrats. Well get it done. Reporter after Nevada Republican dean heller said the bill would be catastrophic. On Health Care Reform he made an interesting point in the fox interview this morning talking again about that rigged system in washington hes complained so much about. If they run out of republican votes can he get democrats . No way he can get democrats. Right now, theyre not there. There are at least five republican senators right now who say they cannot support the bill. From two very different camps. From conservatives and moderates who dont like the cuts in medicaid. Thats the tip of the iceberg. There are many more holding back. Remember, republicans can lose only two votes. That lets Vice President mike pence break the tie. Right now, theyre far away. They can lose just two votes. They need a simple majority. If they cant get the votes, george, what are the next steps in the Health Care Battle . Who knows . Is the easy answer. Theres no way to know right now. If they cant get the vote in the senate, the effort to repeal obamacare is is dead. But then the question is what is going to happen to the overall system . If this fails, will the president reach out to democrats . Will the democrats reach out to the president to come up with different kinds of fixes . To the real problems that obamacare does face right now. Democrats say they wont engage in talks unless repeal is off the table. Trump has had busy twitter fingers this weekend. Hes been hitting president obama over russia, as david wright mentioned. A quote here. Since the Obama Administration was told way before the 2016 election that the russians were meddling, why no action . By t. ,hink he means trump . What to you make of this . Its a head scratcher. Seems to be for the first time him admitting that the russians did meddle in our elections. Hes been resisting that so far. In one tweet, he suggested maybe president obama was not taking action in order to help hillary, which makes no sense. Its the Hillary Campaign complaining against president obama. Theyll issue the final opinions of their ninemonth term before taking off for the summer. We want to bring in kate shaw. An associate law professor and a former lawyer for the obama white house. First and foremost, the justices could make a ruling, good morning to you. Good morning. The justices could make a ruling on the trump administrations appeal of the travel ban. It has been shot down multiple times in the lower courts. What can we expect there . Thats right. So this is finally before the Supreme Court. Right now, its been blocked by two lower courts. So there are a few options. One, the Supreme Court could lift the lower court orders. And let the travel ban finally go into effect. This would be a big win for the trump administration. Court after court has blocked this. For basically six months. So they could have a big win tomorrow. Thats one possibility. Two, the Supreme Court could leave the lower court orders in effect and decide to take the case next fall. Kind of a middle ground. Or it could decide to leave the lower court orders in effect and not take the case at all. And thats essentially, the death of the travel ban. The travel ban would not be going into effect at all. Pardon me. That would be a big loss for the administration. All of those are on the table. Tomorrow morning, maybe Tuesday Morning at the latest, we would hear. Theres all this talk swirling that we may see the announcement of a retirement among one of the justices tomorrow. Is there a thought this would give the president another seat to fill. Is there a thought that this will happen . And who is the speculation swirling around most prominently . Historically, a lot of Supreme Court justices have announced retirements on the last day of the term. So theres a real tradition there. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the oldest justice. But by all continues, shes in great physical and mental shape. I dont think she has any interest in giving President Trump the opportunity to fill her seat. That doesnt seem like a possibility. The real question, i think, is Justice Anthony kennedy. Hell be 81 in july. Hes the swing vote. Hes the swing vote across the board. Gay rights, abortion. All the hot button issues. He really holds the deciding vote in. Hes been on the court for 30 years. People close to him have said hes been thinking seriously about retiring for months. Whether that means tomorrow, or next june, we dont know. There is definitely a possibility that this could be huge news tomorrow. Ginsburg, as you pointed out overnight, has a workout book coming out soon. Shes got an exercise regime. I dont think shes thinking shell go anywhere anytime soon. A girl was dangling from one of the rides. You can see there. A crowd gathered below to catch this girl. Eva pilgrim has more. On this dramatic rescue. Eva, good morning to you. Reporter good morning. Terrifying moments. One witness saying the teen was hanging from the ride by just her hands and head. The crowd gathering below to rescue her. Her neck is stuck her neck is stuck. Reporter an Amusement Park ride coming to a screeching stop saturday. A 14yearold girl was left dangling nearly 25 feet from the ground of the sky ride at six flags great escape in upstate new york. And all of a sudden, we heard some screaming. And i see this young girl hanging from the car like she had slid out or was sliding out. And just her shoulders, head, and arms were still in the car. The rest of her torso was dangling. Reporter the teenager, riding alongside her child relative, who was desperately holding on to her. He was screaming and yelling, she cant move. Shes going to fall. Going to fall. Reporter park staff walking below the sky lift ride as the girl clings on. All right. Theyll catch you. Reporter the girl, eventually wrestling herself free, falling into the arms of the crowd waiting to catch her. Witnesses say park security had a hard time stopping the cable car, telling bystanders to steer clear. She had to be air lifted to a nearby hospital. Without any serious injuries. Its better off to suffer a minor injury to save someone from a serious injury. Thats what those guys ultimately did. Reporter goodness. Theyre investigating what went wrong with that ride. We have video this morning of a terrifying experience for a group of airline passengers. These images capture the violent shaking on board their plane. Wow. Followed by the pilots harrowing warning. Until they heard a sudden, loud bang. And the plane began vibrating. Then the pilot came on the intercom, telling them to prepare for an emergency landing. And telling them they should pray. It was a terrifying midair scare for the hundreds of passengers aboard that flight. The entire cabin of this air bus violently shaking. One witness describing the plane as shuddering like a washing machine. The plane started shaking quite violently. We started losing altitude. Reporter the airasia flight carrying 350 passengers departed perth, it was on the way to the capital of malaysia. A nearly sixhour flight. But 90 minutes into the trip, the pilot was forced to turn around. The captain of the plane issuing this dire warning. Also, please, listen to everything. Our survival depends on your cooperating. Hopefully, everything will turn out for the best. Lots of people crying. Lots of people pulling out the life jackets and stuff. Pretty much preparing. We thought there was a good chance we were going to go down. Reporter somehow, these two passengers managed to make light of the ordeal. As a passenger, probably not the best thing to hear. He said he advised us to pray for the plane and pray for everyone. He said he was scared, too. And i guess thats probably not something you want to hear as a passenger. Reporter the pilot was able to land the plane safely in perth. How close a call was it . At one point, Emergency Services on the ground were reportedly told they may have to rescue people from the ocean. The airline says the cause of the violent shaking is under investigation. Pretty harrowing. Paula . I cannot imagine being on that flight and hearing the captain say our survival depends upon your cooperation. Not what you want to hear. Not at all. The pilot of a singleengine piper losing control. Crashes into a ft. Myers day care center. There were no children present at the time of the crash. A passenger was killed. The pilot injured. Narrowly escaping before the plane exploded. We want to move to standoff overnight. In a pennsylvania neighborhood. All started by a desperate couple on the run from the cops. They barricaded themselves inside a home. And abcs ephae ramos, who was the om the very beginning, is in center valley, pennsylvania good morning to you. Reporter dan and paula, good morning. This road is open now. It was a completely different scene out here yesterday. Officers from several agencies on the ground in the air, trying to capture these two suspects on the run. This quiet rural pennsylvania neighborhood terrorized saturday. Police saying an armed man and woman made their way through town, breaking into homes, after shooting at police. Male has a handgun. Shots were fired. Reporter leading officers on a ninehour chase. Hes stopped in the field. Hes running. Get me the k9 units and state police if you can. Reporter residents put on lockdown. Local police say it started when officers tried to pull over the two suspects for parole violations. Hes not stopping. Reporter but ended up firing at the officers before taking off. The individuals entered at least two homes that we know of. Theres no bell ringing. No door knocking. No nothing. Reporter this man, bravely coming face to face with one of the alleged suspects. He was holding a gun this long. He kept hollering, give me the keys. I said, i dont have them. Reporter the suspects running away again. Before barricading themselves at another house. The Police Officers approached the home. There were three gunshots heard. Reporter ending the ninehour ordeal in the same town where it all began. Authorities tell us at no point did Police Officers fire at the suspects. Not during the chase. Not at any of the standoff locations. When Police Officers got to this area, the last home where the two suspects had barricaded themselves, thats where they found that man and woman dead in the attic from an apparent murdersuicide. Which today continue to grow. This morning, nearly two dozen wildfires burning across the west. As soaring temperatures continue to bake the region. Were dealing with just absolutely unprecedented fire behavior out here. Reporter in utah, the Brian Head Fire growing overnight, scorching more than 40,000 acres. High winds and the recordbreaking heat fueling the blaze. Charring everything in its path. Its terrifying. I mean, when it first started, it was scary enough. Then it looked like it was out. And then, bam. Reporter crews working furiously to evacuate at least 700 residents as fires destroy homes, leaving families with nothing but memories. I see them save one cabin after another cabin after another cabin. They worked their they literally put their lives on the line to protect peoples property. These guys are. Theyre heroes.
