Not to be in. The form or man but ours or none of those motivated good the birds. You know all. The other lot of old old longbows does Paul Mees war. Our. Guard the whole. Lot of them say. Lost out of then how come all our long. As part of their money no. More momentum as the long bow bow to the Zulus the better. I see. This. And it's fun. From the 1966 album freak out that was Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention because we still have people coming up letting me know how much they love Frank Zappa because one time many moons ago with the boys from the Oscars outpost told me that they did not like Frank Zappa and therefore for ever there will be an outpouring of support for Frank Zappa so that one was any way the wind blows it also came up because we were talking about the winds of fortune is that why we put it and how do we put it how do you use it as a fortune or really blowing well here at McKinley is that what it was that we said yeah yeah because we have a great total $1688.00 pound slash dollars I mean this is just been a phenomenal day yeah and a lot of that has come in this afternoon which is the day is done and now like thank you and here's another one I thank you so much you can see I you know what's funny is you would think that sometimes when you hear these big numbers that somebody would go and they got enough money today but it seems to be the opposite where it's like there's a momentum of people wanting to be a part of this yeah I think it's kind of the spirit of this is is catching on for a lot of people in that and we're really grateful for that because it does take a for. Community everybody giving what they can whether it's a dollar or 2 here and there or you know other people who have a little more at the way of resources and can contribute $5000.00 or a 1000 dollars this or recent folks here did on mine yes so you know it's all very much appreciated and. As I said there's no way we could do all that we do for our community which is serving 12000 people every single month county wide you know this is a very big county so we're getting out into the outlying areas like Cooper Creek which a pack Orleans down the car lot of red wig Garberville and all those points in between so it takes a lot of coordination and resources to make that happen it does and so yeah like you were saying it's just great if you know it's great that somebody donated a $1000.00 but that doesn't mean that little contributions don't make a difference either because we got an e-mail earlier and the round up program here Erie Canal foods between both stores had already raised $2200.00 and this was much earlier in the day change for change it is it's change for change and so just because you hear somebody giving a $1000.00 Don't be discouraged that a $5.00 donation even a 50 cent donation doesn't make a difference because it has been adding up. Quite impressively very impressively and you know for folks who would like to spread that out over the course of the year we have the full plate Partners program too so they can send in a check or do an online monthly donation and that's the way I like to contribute to local nonprofits that I support because you can hardly feel it at the time you know $101520.00 a month it makes a big difference for the organization and it's money they can count on coming in on a regular basis but it's very painless it is well especially considering you know your Hulu and your free trials that are all of a sudden going through and they're getting these automatic update. It's and they're coming out automatically you don't even notice those so how about those of you go through you look at your bank statement and you realize that Spotify is charging you $99.00 a month and you're not using it well maybe consider taking that $99.00 and putting it towards like you said you called it the full plate program for play partners Ok And then how would somebody find that if they wanted to be a part of that if you just go to our website food for People dot org And there are different ways to donate so you can make a one time donation or you can spread that out over the course of the year some people do it quarterly a lot of people do it monthly which is really wonderful monthly to me seems like it would probably be the easiest way to do it and so basically you guys have made it easy whether you want to come see as a person here at Eureka natural foods McKinley whether you want to round up Eureka natural foods at either location or whether you want to sign up at food for People dot org They've made it very easy for you to donate and keep all of these great programs surviving what we're going to do right now is we're going to take a break it's about 15 minutes after 5 o'clock we're going to be here and till 6 o'clock tonight thanks to the sponsorship of green wired solar solutions and Murphy's market is truly holding their holiday sticker sales that is the most festive seal of the year where you can see models all of their music has come with a 10 year 100000 mile warranty and advance technology features but this holiday season they're giving you an extra special gift. So we are just about 20 minutes away from ending our broadcast here at Eureka natural foods in McKinley Well it's been a pretty red letter day and we're over here by me where we at number wise oh my gosh someplace I never thought we'd be yeah we are at 2600. $99.00 pound slash dollars we should have the little. Girl I know because I mean we made a girl of a $1000.00 today I know I know and I thought because we didn't have that yesterday you know and so you know I was kind of thinking Ok we people gave a lot on Monday they came a lot on Tuesday Wednesday was kind of a bit of a slump. Yes So if you've been in far too many grocery stores this week you know the miniature is coming to an end tomorrow but it's not done yet so we're going to be here for another 20 minutes or so. I think what we're going to do is we're going to play a little music and then we're going to catch back up and we're going to do a final total And a final thank you and everything for going on. I have been here too long a little wrap up a total and then we're going to talk about all the stuff that we've done today here at Eureka natural foods and again thanks to the sponsors green wired solutions and these markets so I got a request in via text for this song by dead it's such a good song that if you are driving along in traffic right now the sun's going to pick you up it's great from start to finish short little song by Dad It's called Lucky. dog. The main. Cause. Of. It is. That. The money. Oh. Oh. What you want to. Ok. I was. Out of. The room gotta love ween there that was voodoo lady I played a song from the same album Freedom of $76.00 I was a request in for Polly who gave me a beer for it so of course the blade or but I wanted to end it off on the lady because I love that song as well so it is now 7 minutes until 6 o'clock and we are going to be leaving Eureka natural foods today but pretty good a ride the way to hear that and this is a record day for McKinley bill in all the years that we've been doing this and we are at a grand total of 2700 and $22.00 pounds last dollars thank you so much community of McKinley believe me appreciate your coming out here and you know I I heard a lot of the passion for folks at the cash registers promoting the change for change and that's been really adding up to that for this pretty close to $3000.00 budget I'm slash dollars by the time we're finished up here yeah we're so grateful McKinley bill has been incredibly generous today everyone coming in today the cashiers have been lovely and we just blew all of our goals out of the water today we really seriously who walked in and said I was going to be a 1000 and and what's funny do is the change for change I was telling you Carly I was like oh. We it's already added up to $2200.00 and you thought I said $200.00 and you're like wow what a great day you know if we had $601.00 time we had 600 that was amazing and I go No $2200.00 and then my face dropped Yeah exactly so it's been a really good day it has. And we really enjoyed our time we got to talk with Sandy from the pantry out here and I remind her for everyone that any of all the food donated here today stays in this community Sandy came in talked about what their pantry does and was able to take all the donations that were here waiting for her back to the pantry to be used by people in this area you know and I think that one of the questions I heard at the register when one of the folks said Would you like to round up you know for your purchase today and they said Well food for people is this a local group and we said yes absolutely she's Ok only support local groups and you know this is a time when our local businesses could really use some extra support so not only do we appreciate the grocery stores that have hosted us this weekend we have one more tomorrow Murphy's and Sonny Bray but you know this is a time to rally for your community support your local businesses and we are really proud of the fact that I wrote a column about this with our quarterly newsletter for the winter issue 83 percent of our budget is spent locally. You know there are a few vendors and so forth that we. Need to use just because there are products that aren't available here locally but we really believe that we need to give back to the community that supports us and circular thing many people don't realize you know they think of non-profits having little Chinese shoestring budgets which is true and we're always scraping things together but food for people actually has a budget of about $2000000.00 every year and a lot of that goes back and for a local economy and we like to support people as must as we can whether that's purchasing locally working with our local farmers or doing whatever we can do to help strengthen Humboldt County and hiring local people who pay rent here and grocery shop here and buy a lot of goods too so you know again it's but we know it's been a hard time locally for our economy it's going through some changes right now it's hard to predict what will happen but the strength of this community is the fact that they like to support the community that supports them. It's been a really eyeopening and fun experience for me to see all the things that you guys do again I kind of walked into this thinking it was a food bank and it is a lot more than a food bank here at food for people so we have one more day one more day out to fundraise tomorrow we're going to be at. Peace and sunny but yes I have lost my mind a little bit today you guys are now the radio pros you guys have been here helping me out making the someone run the food bank now yeah oh yeah I know all about it now yeah you do I was listening earlier on my way here and you talk about our programs as well. So it's been really has been we're going to be tomorrow Murphy's in sunny Brae and that will be the last day but don't forget if you are shopping at Eureka natural foods either here in McKinley bill or in Eureka all through tonight you can still round up all your there and that will still count for the food for people drive so definitely get out there and round up and again thanks to our sponsors green wired solution and Murphy's market who will be seeing tomorrow and I'll be seeing. It'
