The b. A. R. T. Unions have given notice, were 3 days, 1 hour and 59 minutes from the deadline of another possible strike. We have coverage from concerned commuters to tonights march and rally. The formal notice tonight from Union Leaders, were live at Union Leaders emerged after 7 tonight and gave their 72 hours notice. Reporter and then they went right back in to continue negotiating. The notice does not mean no talking. In fact, theyre expected to keep it at it for the next three days. But if recent history is a guide, here we go again. We dont want the system or the service interrupted. Reporter angry and frustated Union Negotiators have no choice but to give 72 hours strike notice. We cant continue to negotiate against ourselves. It takes two parties. Reporter its the same complaints that stopped trains and shuttered stations in july. A 30day contract extension was supposed to change the dynamic between the two sides. It has not. The things that we had signed, thought were agreed upon, they came back and said, no, these are no longer do we agree to them so weve gone backwards in the last 30 days. Reporter 30 days, half of them with the appearance of progress, negotiating teams coming and going, spending hours upon hours in a Downtown Office building, but ultimately no traction. We are not yelling at each other. Reporter shouting might be an improvement because whats been happening inside, mostly silence. You always have disagreements. Theres always different points of view. But at the end, people are willing to say, hey, i dont like this because of this. Can you move this. Can you do that . That is not happening right now. Reporter b. A. R. T. Spokesman calls the 72 hour notice disappointing and says the unions are the ones failing to respond to reasonable compromise. Were in there doing talking. Were back tomorrow. Board meeting, Union Leaders plan to make an appearance and ask the board to revamp these negotiations before its too late. He is also barred from practicing law in california and is paid about 300,000 in restitution. His sentencing is set for october 22nd. The city of richmond will file a haw suit against chevron related to hast years refinery fire. The fire did great harm to the community and chevron needs to be held accountable.
