This contract release bid the board estimate that is if 1 3 of employees use the benefit it would use the district 44 million. A big mistake that raises the contract to 111. 2 million. The oakland teenager charged with setting fire to the skirt of another teenager aboard an ac transit bus was back in court and his family came to support him. They say the case is not what it appears. Cameras are not allowed in the courtroom. Reporter supporters of 16 yearold Richard Thomas attended this mornings hearing. The oakland junior is charged as an adult accused of setting fire to a skirt 18yearold luke Sasha Fleishman was wearing while riding on a bus. His attorney described him as some what overwhelmed. Remorseful. He has written some heartfelt letters to the families of the young man who was burned. Expressing his extreme regret over the entire incident. Reporter police have said that thomas admitted to setting fleishmans skirt on fire because hes homophobic. His Attorney Says that he cannot everyone spell homophobic. Theres members of his family that are gay. He cannot everyone spell the word homophobic. Reporter we spoke to thomass cousin who is gay who came to support him in court. Adding the current charges could put him behind bars for the rest of his life. Fleishman identifies as a gender, not male or female. Fleishmans parents say all of the support really means something to sasha. Thomas attorney is going to file to have his client charged as a minor.
