Reporter police say brodys home was different. They found an unusual collection of child pornography booklets. Neighbor jennifer says she saw a girl in and out of brodys duplex, but thought she lived there. Police tell me, brody lived alone. He didnt seem to be a bad guy. But honestly, you never know who people are. I feel its good that they finally got him. That way hes not going to be able to hurt any other people. A man was apparently struck and killed by a train today in oakland. Police say he had sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene. Now to the south bay, where supervisors plan a proposal to fine the San Jose Fire Department if it doesnt improve its time to emergency calls. He says the Fire Department is not meeting its contractual operation to respond to 90 of medical emergencies within 8 minutes. Police say the boy killed 17 yearold justice tolliver in their grandmothers apartment on january 23. Authorities searched for the 14 yearold for six days before he surrendered. The Districts Attorneys Office said the boy was a danger to the community, and a flight risk. The commissioner did give the teen permission to attend his sisters funeral. Google is testing out a Ferry Service for employees in the east bay. Today, they launched service between harbor bay and alameda. Its part of a Trial Program that runs through this friday. Google already provides shuttle buses for its employees. This Ferry Service could become a permanent option, if enough workers choose to use it. And googles mystery barge is getting the boot from Treasure Island. The San Francisco bay conservation and Development Commission says the project lacks the required permits. The agency is recommending that google move the barge to a permitted construction site. However, the Treasure IslandDevelopment Authority which leases the barge says it will try to apply for the correct permits. East bay mud says about 2 inches of rain fell in its Northern California watershed. Thats more than the entire month of january. The agency says the reservoirs are 83 of normal right now. Begun planning for a water shortage emergency, and our board of directors is going to consider voluntary cut backs at the next Board Meeting on february 11. East bay mud serves 1. 3 million people. The agency says storms, such as yesterdays, helped saturate the ground so the next storm can produce runoff. He waters the plants with leftover drinking water. Petty is not sure if he can conserve much more. The future of our water usage is a big question for us. We have no idea. Reporter the alameda Water District has asked petty and 3,000 other customers to voluntarily reduce water consumption by 20 from last year. What happens if it orders more reductions . How are they going to impose the restriction . Are they going to fine us . One thing we dont want to do is penalize customers that are being very supportive of our conservation requests. Whatever happens next will be designed if we go there to not penalize those customers. Reporter the district says if it imposes mandatory restrictions, it may mean reducing, or banning certain practices, such as watering lawns, and it would be on a household average use over time. What well be looking at is how households have been doing relative to last year. It is confusing. Sfpuc told us, rationing for its customers would likely be based on 12 month averages prior to this year. Critics are finding fault with both the report and the university. Reporter an independent fact finder released his statement today, leading into the alleged harassment of a black student by four of his white roommates. The report says the university only learned of the incidents after the students parents complained in midoctober and that the University President wasnt fully briefed until five weeks after the investigation began. Changing some of the protocols so ill be informed much more timely fashion. Reporter the report concludes in part that quote University Staff acted in compliance with relevant policies in past practice. However, evidence demonstrates that campus leadership did not follow its usual practice.
