He was caught on tape several times. The most incriminating was the video of a man setting a home on fire. Videos were crucial and assisted us in identifying once we had the person of interest. Police say brenon became the person of interest after a hid night duty sergeant did a seven of databases. Hes a sex and arson offender. He was arrested in 2001 for Sexual Battery of a relative and numerous arson convictions dating back to the 90s. When were able to find someone on the registry, it was definitely a good lead. Hes charged with two counts of arson. Hes also now a suspect in the huge san jose warehouse fire last week that, because of its size had not been included as an arson fire before. If you have a number of fires in a small area like that youre going to suspect them all to be a part of the hole. That one just had more fuel . A lot more fuel. Im a fairly nice person. The suspects criminal history includes two previous arrests for arson including one in santa clara county. Robert handa spoke with him in 1999. Brandon had just been arrested in a string of 16 arsons on public trails in the south bay. At the time he had already been convicted of setting fires as a clerk at the grand canyon. What do you want to make sure people understand about you when they see this story in. That im not some crazed maniac going out there trying to destroy properties or lives. At that time, brandon told us he was setting fires as a stress reliever. He said 15 years ago that he wanted to get counseling to stop the urge to set fires. I feel good because i thought he was going to come back again, especially after so many interviews, and just seeing us on television.
