It happened about quarter after six this evening near lake mead and rancho. North Las Vegas Police say the man was not using a crosswalk when he was hit by a sedan. The driver remained on the scene and police were called. There is no hero in heroin. They put on annual events like this one tonight. Addiction. One that 28 year old Alicia Marshal knows all too well. Alicia Marshall former heroin addict its so hard to stop because you dont want to be sick. an addict since she was a teenager, alicia got clean less than 2 years ago. She says for a long her time her family enabled her. And not until that stopped, that she realized she had to help herself get well. Alicia Marshall former heroin addict family members will try to love an addict sober and all the love in the world can not save someone. natsound joe engle on stage joe engle says the goal of his organization is also help raise funds to help people going through rehab. An inspiration that came from a son who didnt have the chance to escape this cycle of addiction. joe engle lost son to heron addiction all the awareness that we have brought on all due to him so his memories is living on and hes making and impact in this world. Patranya Bhoolsuwan and since engle launched his organization, he has paid for room and board at sober living houses for 15 people. He says next step is advocating and one day to open a recovery high school. One that can give full focus to teens trying to beat addiction. Patranya Bhoolsuwan whats interesting is in most of these cases we heard tonight. Kids often get addicted to heroin after being hooked on prescription pills. So the advice is really for parents to watch out for that. Of course a good idea dont give kids easy access to these pills at home.
