smith heres the quick and dirty forecast dry and warm conditions are expected this weekend and through much of next conditions are expected this weekend and through much of next week as
High Pressure
develops over the region. Temperatures will be ten or so degrees above normal next week with locally breezy north winds at times. In the short term. Through monday night a ridge of
High Pressure
is expected to develop over the area during the next 48 hours keeping well above normal temperatures along with light winds over most areas. Winds down the
Colorado River
will generally be in the 1015 mph range saturday with an increase into the 1525 mph the models indicate the ridge strengthening monday off the west coast with a piece of
Energy Diving
southeast along the front side of the ridge. This energy is expected to remain far enough north and east of the cwa as is pushes through monday. But we could see a few lower clouds across lincoln county. But most areas will continue to see periods of high clouds. The main concern with this feature will be an increase in north to northeast winds monday afternoon across the eastern half of the area and especially the
Colorado River
. Winds should generally remain in the 1020 mph range with gusts possibly up to 3035 mph down the river. The long term will start with a shortwave trough diving through utah and colorado tuesday morning. Will keep the forecast aligned with the majority of the deterministic models and the shortrange ensembles with keeping the northeast forecast area dry. However, the trough passage will increase northerly winds, particularly along the
Colorado River
valley. Couple degrees tuesday and maybe wednesday, yet remain above normal for this time of year. Otherwise, the trough pushes east and allows ridging to build across the western conus and hold strong through friday, with light winds and temperatures warming back to 10 or so degrees above normal. By next weekend, a shortwave trough will start to edge onshore along the california coast. At this time it appears rather weak with little in the way of precipitation potential, except for maybe the sierra nevada. Steve Sebelius im here with sarah sendeck the

Democratic Caucus today. Some long lines problems with checking ins all that kind of stuff. You think the
Republican Caucus is going to go a little more smoothly . sarah sendeck i think we feel very optimistic about tuesday. The state party along with campaigns and county parties have all been preparing for months for tuesday. Theyve held caucus training. Theyve been getting voters registered. I think were really expecting a strong turnout a lot of people are really excited about this caucus coming up and we feel good night.
Steve Sebelius a lot of people have suggested we got back to the primary system and theres all sorts of issues related to that. There was a bill at the legislature to do that. Does the rnc have any preference either way in how you pick the candidates in these early contests . sarah sendeck these are conversations that come up every four years and theyll come up again this year. But right now were just focused on the election cycle ahead and of the united states.
Steve Sebelius well probably revisit that after the caucus coming up. So, theyre will be fewer candidates that there were before. What do you think that will do to turn out. Is that going to boost turn out . Is that going to lower turn out . If i was a jeb bush supporter would i have nothing to go for . Do you think ill still show up and vote for one of the remaining candidates . sarah sendeck i think we still have a very strong, diverse field of candidates. Weve seen around the state people are really excited. Theyre excited to have these options. Theyre excited to out and caucus and be part of this process. People are a lot more engaged and energized than they have been in the past. We expect people to come out there and be part of this process on tuesday.
Steve Sebelius sounds good. Well sarah thanks for being with us and good luck on tuesday. Well see you then. Back to you guys.
