Sure. Let me take a minute to to. Preface it by saying the Internet's always been about empowering the individual so the power is actually slowly moved away from centralized sources to less centralized sources but this is the 1st chance that you could literally become your own bank or you could literally become your own Linked In because the block chain is fundamentally distributed to every And this is centralized around of around you so what it is technically is a consensually validated multiparty database and that's just a fancy way of saying that you know there's a roomful of people like 50 people and if I gave you 5 bucks and everybody saw it and they were all witnesses to it. It would probably be to everybody so that happened if if. The idea of a witness is actually embedded into a block chain so you have these people running operations called mining and they're doing some very complete complicated you know computational algorithms to figure out what is truthful and what isn't. In just in terms of like you know did they actually paid this digital money to someone else so that's basically it if you know a couple of the things you could think about are if I go in bribe 26 of those people to say that I gave you 10 bucks. That would be what's called the 51 percent hack so you can actually shift it but there's so many people that are distributed all over the world to be virtually impossible to do that 51 percent however that your audience would like to know that $51.00 per over 50 percent of the mining power is located in the country of China and China nationalized the bitcoin mining operations they would actually have 51 percent while interesting from the point is to keep this system try. Already by having it decentralized and having many different people and sensually validate something it makes it true makes it trustworthy right yes so basically if you look at anything my favorite example is the value of a Vango right who says it's worth $100000000.00 what someone to underpay and others are willing to bid so the true price of the value of it or the price of it right the value of it is determined by the market so when people believe a thing has value it has value so right now enough people believe that because it has value that it has value but it's the same for any other kind of currency if you believe in the Chinese yuan it will go up and if you kind of disbelieve in anything some things you know trick is going on you're going to believe in it less Ok well take the example again of the Vango it's ultimately worth the price that somebody pays for it yes so that person makes the final decision that Orson sets the price but you know if there wasn't a marketplace and if just one person like your brother bought it for $200000000.00 everybody would suspect it's an insider deal to set the price so in a fair and liquid market that's what that's price. So what was originally created for blocking the blocking was originally created to support the bitcoin network and in the Bitcoin why paper they never call it the block to somebody else called it a block chain and the name but what they needed to do was. Solve something called the double spending problem that if I paid you some money it's possible later on the someone else would you know use the same money and double spend sort of counterfeiting it so they wanted to create a cryptographic prevention of that and they did so that's where it came from originally is to create the ability to do peer to peer payments without a trusted intermediary like a bank or like Pay Pal It's literally like Bit Torrent for money. Is it real money is it real money you know it is a currency and people as long as they believe in it will hold a value however there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes that's kind of determining the value of it that we'll get into There are entire countries threatened by Bitcoin so they're going to attack it on the other hand people that live in unstable countries like it because it's an easy way to move their money out of that currency that's on stable into something that might be future based and more stable Ok wait in a short answer answer the question is it real money. It is tradeable for real money but you know I have to ask you what if I can walk exchange write me things like a stock exchange it's sort of like an asset that you hold so there's the discussion about whether it's a currency or if it's an asset it's probably a currency because it has no underlying value you know I actually joke that Bitcoin is the Kim card actually in of currencies has no intrinsic value it just is it's you know valuable because it's valuable it's like famous for being the perceived value you know that correctly value but if you think about it all money has the same issue like when they detach the u.s. Dollar from the price of gold it and floated it it's all the perceived strength of the United States that's behind the dollar. So a competitive currency is a Chinese run and they know they're not as cool as the dollar so they're actually currently amassing gold and will announce that they'll be 40 percent gold backed as a pitch to come up against the us as the global reserve currency which would cause a massive dislocation and disruption in the financial markets but it would whoever controls the reserve currency basically controls the world. And that's news. All right so I'm going to go back to just how long is that cleaner a block chain existed. It's it's been over 10 years now that it's been theoretically done it isn't the last few years that the value of it has just skyrocketed and in fact if you look at the chart of the value of a because it's almost identical as the growth chart for Amazon so people know it's there it's real that invested in the long time ago but it originally had some dark forces to them as part of the dark glass absolutely it was very dark in the beginning it's it's the ideal medium to you know pick a kid that ransom. You know but that's a side effect of freedom right when you when you allow freedom it reduces secure it reduces security it reduces the ability to to monitor things so the opposite of Big Brother is bitcoin it's a lot of brothers. You know if you look at Google they're actually tracking everything you do so it's now little brother and they're not evil they're just sort of like oh my God we can make money here and then they're just like slowly becoming slightly more evil there's an unattributed source that said that Eric Schmidt once said Google is not evil but we were completely tiptoeing up to the edge of it. Yeah I mean there's a lot so let's continue on the topic here Shane Bitcoin how what at what point did it go from the kind of dark services that it was centered around to something that is legitimate and is in a publicly traded on. And on the Stock Exchange not yet although a number of companies that are Wall Street based are creating. That it's trade it so it's on the way to becoming legitimate but right now it's still kind of dark for example do you know about ransomware like the want to cry around somewhere virus that would lock up your heart it just give me you know I had a car going and I let you go that could not have happened without bricklaying right they have an untraceable way of of demanding a ransom and they've actually you know collect a lot of money so it's still quite dark but that's actually the issue how do you negotiate this interface between social good and the Commons and personal freedom.
