Theres tree stunts, theres trees in the way, slid down cypress trees it looks like, a couple of them have slid down the hill, they have got it taped off with yellow tape and im told that because the park service is short staffed today and tomorrow and this week, this probably will not be addressed until some time next week, but in the meantime, the coastal path is still open. This is just a few yards from uss San Francisco memorial out here at lands end. And you can see folks walking by and taking a look and pretty significant slump. Right now, nobody working on it and i think it will probably be next week before we see any movement. Mark, we can see. From the chopper shot, it looks like the trail there is still open. Can you tell, looks like the public walking on by, do you know if they are going to expand the taped off area because that mudslide with our grounds being so soggy may get bigger . It depends on what kind of rain i guess we got on wednesday. Right now, they have it taped off and doesnt appear that theres any great likelihood that its going to into the hillside. But it is a pretty significant slump and rain predicted for wednesday could exacerbate the problem. Right now, trails open. Mark matthews live at lands end in San Francisco where we are looking at a mudslide there from our live chopper picture. Lets bring in anthony slaughter right now for actually, we will get to a live look right now at san jose. The morning started off quite foggy in the south bay. Now, things are clear and temperatures are on the rise. We are going to bring in anthony slaughter for a look at the forecast, the rain we are talking about and now seeing more of those folks of our last weeks storm. Yeah, in fact, want to start you off with that fog that we saw this morning, in fact, show you this time lapse from our Mount Hamilton camera over san jose and see that fog right there the fog that covered most of downtown san jose. Look what happens as the morning goes along, it barely moves. In fact, takes a long time, just cleared within the last hour or so. So, now we are finally starting to see some sunshine. And the thing about it in San Francisco, as you said, vicky, we didnt have rain, we didnt have that much wind this morning but last week, in fact, all week long, we had rain and that is why our ground is so soggy right now. And just saturated. So as we head toward the next 24 hours, rain is in the forecast, our next storm system set to arrive coming in from the north by tomorrow. We will time out that system coming in this way, but you will notice the good news, no delays if you got to do any traveling. Back to talk more about that full forecast. In the meantime, back to you, vicky. Anthony, thank you. He has been posting links and screen shots of some of sonys internal emails. No reason to think he has anything to do with the hackers. Sony is not amused, writing to twitter and brooksmith to say sony would hold twitter responsible for any damage or loss arising from such use of that information and asking that account be closed. Brooksmith provided a copy of the letter to the media. From what we can see, he is just linking and screen shooting information already available. Sony playing hardball but drawing a lot of attention to that guys twitter accounts, nows that 19,000 followers. The internet calls that the streisand effect, named after barbra streisand, of course. Ten years ago, she got upset someone took a picture of her house as part of a project, photographing the pacific coastline to measure beach erosion. Had she said nothing, very few people would have seen that picture but it was one of thousands of pictures and she sued and then everybody had a look at her house. The economy grew more than economists expected. Today, a big travel day and while the sun is shining here in the bay area, weather not so bright for travelers trying to get around other parts of the country. Today, Jennifer Bjorklund joins us from chicago this morning with what you need to know if youre hitting the road or the air today and ohare in the background there, jen . Reporter that is ohare in the background, vicky and scott and kind of strange, because its pretty sunny here in chicago, too, havent seen the sun in many, many days here. This is the time to get away if youre going to get away from the midwest. One in three americans is traveling holiday time, primetime for the not so frequent traveler, lines look long, they are longer during the Holiday Season when you have families with kids traveling instead of business travellers who move through the lines quickly. Be patient if youre heading to heading to an airport. 98. 6 million americans plan to travel 50 miles or more during the holidays and airports on the east coast are socked in today. Rain and low ceilings are causing delays. So, that fog is really affecting air travel. Hour and a half delays at newark, laguardia, jfk, an hour two hours delay in philadelphia and tomorrow, christmas eve, like we mentioned, the midwest will be affected. You know that causes a Ripple Effect all the way across the country. So, maybe the road trippers are onto something, unleaded gas now averaging 2. 37 a gallon, less than 2, you can get a gallon of gas in 27 states, unfortunately, not one of those states is california. I think you might have guessed that, but everywhere you look, gas about 80, 81 cents cheaper than it was this time last year, more traveling by the roadways the next few days. That is the situation here. Ohare looking great so far, very crowded this morning, but things are expected to change tomorrow when the snow comes in, so, check your flights, no matter where youre coming from, cause you know, if a major hub like this gets tangled up, it can have that domino effect all across the country. Scott, vicky . Always a good idea to leave early. Jennifer, thank you, enjoy those sunny skies while you can. Be at ohare tomorrow. So, tell me more about this. Give me some weather there, anthony slaughter. You know, unfortunately, im just the messenger and so is jennifer. But you know, we are expecting some snow, as you mentioned, in chicago. The good news, scott is its gonna move out by the afternoon. So, if youre leaving in the morning, maybe you can catch the dry window. I dont know. At least you will get the white christmas, right . The caveat. All right. Lets talk about that weather here. The fog that we had this morning, it was thick, especially across san jose, we are clear right now in the south bay and in the 60s, 62 there, San Francisco looking real nice as well, completely Crystal Clear blue skies, no fog this morning. If you are visiting town, a nice view of that here and if youre out there checking it out, look at those temperatures, 61 degrees in San Francisco right now, unreal and we are headed to see temps in the mid60s in San Francisco, near 70 in the south bay, 71 for your High Temperature in the north bay. We do have rain in the forecast here in the bay area tomorrow, starting tomorrow morning, everybody will be completely cloudy with a little bit of fog like we saw this morning. Tomorrow, 10 00 in the morning, notice the futurecast, right through noon, keeps all of the rain across the north bay. So, tomorrow morning will be dry for most of us, our morning commute. If you have got the day off, you can enjoy the clouds and the fog at home but you will notice by 3 00, the rain pushes into the south bay, into the east bay, the trivalley and the peninsula. So, we will see the rain, at least during the day. Then look at this, by the evening hours, we clear out, not only the bay area clears, Central Valley clears and tahoe clears out after ber 7, 8 00. So, get the rain and also get the snow and also get the wind. In fact, the winds going to pick up. Look at this map. Watch how it explodes. You see that, 8, 9 00 tomorrow afternoon or evening, after we get the rain, the winds really going to start to pick up, talking anywhere from 20 to 40 Miles Per Hour in our inland valleys and possibly winds up to 50 Miles Per Hour at the coastline. So, keep that in mind, we just saw in our report earlier, 20 minutes ago, a mudslide in San Francisco, keep in mind, no rain today, we had no wind, but the ground is so saturated from last weeks storms, in fact, the past two to three week storms any additional rain, any additional wind can really cause problems. Tomorrow, we will be on guard all day tracking that storm as it moves in. The good news here in the bay area by thursday, we will be looking dry. So, nice to see the rain come and go. Guys, back to you. Anthony, thank you. Still a little bit of flipflop weather right now in december. Amazing. Still to. Come, the feds sa a baggage handler smuggled a dozen guns onto a plane.
