The sheriffs deputies were back at the antioch bridge today searching for a man who jumped off of his boat yesterday and has not been seen yet. Well, terry, the recovery effort was happening for much of the day on the east side of the bridge, and the Sacramento CountySheriffs Department says that the man jumped off an anchored boat, and tried to retrieve his hat, and never resurfaced or came up. And now, the marine detail, and the helicopters from the coast guard never recovered anything, and today, they were using sonar scans. The police say he is a 55yearold man from antioch. And the coast guard did join local authorities to help promote boating safety and enforcement as the season kicks off to remind the boaters about the critical importance of the rules surrounding matters of life jackets and flotation devices. We spoke to the harbor master who also offered some additional tips for boertaters. You need to ask some questions at the local marina, and local knowledge and you need to spend some time to look at a chart to determine the sand bars and where they r and you need to know if you break down, who do you call . The firefighters say that the carport was engulfed in flames and spread to the home nearby and the firefighters were able to knock it down before it caused too much damage. But nobody was home and the cause of the fire is under investigation. In San Francisco one man is dead and another one behind bars after a shooting overnight. Happened at 12 30 at Mission Street near maynard. The officers say they got there and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, and another man with a gun. The man died at the scene. It is not clear what happened with that shooting and the identities of the suspect and the arrested man are not released yet. And now, a third water slide in dublin is shut down because of a faulty gauge. We are told that a young boy who flew u off of a slide yesterday was taken to the hospital. Reporter the city leaders out here wanted the make it clear that the third slide has nothing to do with the safety situation that happened yesterday where that 10yearold flew off of the slide, but it does mean that there are now three slides that are built into the tower that are offline. Two including the green one there called the emerald plunge where that little boy slipped off were closely scrutinized by the state inspectors this morning, and that is the video prompting the close scrutiny and you can see the 10yearold boy rushing down the 80degree drop of the plunge and careens on to the concrete. When you look at the slide from the ground level, you can see the sides of the half tube are not tall. This is a park own and operated by the city of dublin and they are saying it got lots of testing and retesting before opening day yesterday, and the state inspectors with cal osha gave pit green light, but back today. We investigate with bay areas chris kimora. T the company says they are holding up to their end of the bargain, but the consumers say they were charged for highend services they never got. It touted itself as a personal and local dating service and she liked that and the Success Story in the oorientation. They linked up so many people, and the Success Stories and they showed me a few of them and, you know, people who had gotten married in the site. She worked with multiple matchmakers by phone from the sacramento office, and the matches they made were terrible fits. I am not being picky and the same mistakes over and over again, and it is like, are you listening to what i am saying to you, and have you looked at my profile. Reporter her subscription is about to expire, and she says that 7,800 bought her four bad dates. This sour lives that they are taking advantage of. Reporter kim williams has a similar story. She bought into the east bay matchmakers and bought into the local service and surplus of men. The reply was more men than you could date. She signed up for 3,000 six months of matchmaking and it is almost up, and she has four dates set up by people over 1,100 people away. What it is very Little Service for a lot of money. It is like i have been total ally taken advantage of. Taken to the cleaners. Reporter kim and maria went to different bay area offices, but they were tealing with the same company who operates four bay area Matchmaking Companies including a dozen around the country all from the Head Quarters in oklahoma. The Vice President of operations flew here to address the consum consumers concerns. One of the complaints that you get over and over again is that they were promised some different schedule of matchmaking than what they were saying. Reporter he is right. The singles sign a match contract to promise them a membership for a certain period of time, and it does not guarantee specific number of matches or otherwise. And they are intelligent and articulate people to understand the agreement they are entering into. Reporter and yet more than ten clients came to us with complaints, and carol said it did not alarm him, because over 6,000 singles have been signed up, and happy clients send letters every week. We get invitations to weddings, and wedding videos and cards and thank yous. Reporter when we asked to meet one of the couples, the company introduced us to sam. I walked out saying, what am i doing . I cant believe i spent all of this money. Reporter frank said he spent 4,100 for matchmaking that work worked. He is paired with a woman who is his fiance. We are happy and engaged and looking for a house to move in and living the dream. Reporter that is the dream that others believe they were sold with the testimonials like this on the matchmaker website and pictures of the happy couples like these on the owners facebook page. But testimonials like blake thanking silicone val lieu for introducing his soul matt christy, and even one in nevada where blake thanking them for the introduction to the soulmate christy. And those are stock photos, and he says they are not clients, but there is a privacy concern. People are not keen about putting their pictures up and stating, hey, we used a matchmaking service. You are buying something sight unseen and paying a lot of money about it. Reporter han said that it is onesided and if they feel they were lured in, they could file a class action. If people are induced into a contract with fraudulent promises, they do have a claim, and they can claim that they were asked to sign something under false pretenses, and they were promised something. Reporter but singles like kim and maria and others want something else. I think it should be shutdown. Everybody else that reached out wanted refunds and the company said no, but it did extend the membership. A settlement with maria might be in the works. The company is by the way run another dating service in the area called executive matchmakers and professor han offered advice. Before signing up, negotiate a pay as you go, and so if you dont like the results, you can cut loose without losing everything.
