Police in the bay area are searching for the man that tried to abduct an eightyearold child this afternoon at about 11 00 this morning on Golden Gateway near the rieb rare. A parent intervened and took the child to safety. The man is described as dishevelled, roughly 60 years of age, gray hair. Police say he may have Mental Health issues and theyre asking the public to be an alert and report any suspicious activity. People in 17 states were unable to buy groceries today after a system wide problem with food stamp debit cards. Kim berry terry has more with the details. If people are on ebt cards, the system is down. Stores across the bay area have said theyre having to turn people away all day. Epd cards allow state welfare departments to issue benefits via an electronically coded payment card. Those who qualify use the card to shop for food at participating venn tordovendors. While some of the people affected blamed the partial government shutdown, it does appear that the problem is unrelated, completely unrelated. They claim a routine check at the Main Data Center resulted in the systemwide failure. Xerox is working on the problem. A costco in South San Francisco is recalling nearly 40,000 pounds of rotisserie chicken. The recall is a first in a nationwide outbreak that has sickened more than 300 people. Most of the products recalled are the foster farms rotisserie chicken, kirkland farm soup leg quarters and chicken salad. They were sold directly to costco ela camino. We spoke to one costco member who said one Family Member already ate the chicken. I didnt eat the chicken. My husband ate the chicken. Im hoping he has a strong immune system. These will head over to or rilville and most of the moisture over the area. The system is coming in and dropping in on the east side of the sierras. Its moving in over land without a lot of moisture to work with. So any chances of show will be areas north of sonoma county. Again, most of the action out towards the sierra.
