Kris sanchez joins us live with what this could mean. As you likely know or lost track, oakland has had eight Police Chiefs in 14 years and has not had a permanent one in seven months, and the mayor said she will declare a state of emergency if the department does not find three candidates. She said the commission is not doing its job. Oakland has had a revolving door of chiefs. Kirkpatrick, you might remember her, she was fired after three years without cause, and shes working for the new orleans Police Department. The city has been struggling with rising crime and Police Misconduct and a failure of its 911 system. Thats when somebody calls for help but then hangs up before they get that help. The mayor pledged more than 2 million toward addressing that issue. The mayor will be at a midday News Conference today, and shes there talking about business but we will talk about information on the state of imagine. Back to you, marcus. Thank you. New calls to audit San Francisco police stops in the wake of allegations of at least one officer that falsified information, and that officer also now under investigation, and this is all from the details revealed at a commission meeting. Its unclear at this point how much data that particular officer is accused of altering, but it may be dozens of cases. One San Francisco public defenders attorney calls it a troubling situation. If there are more officers, right, it could be a systemic issue. The state requires officers to input the race of somebody they stop, search or detain and the Police Accountability is not addressing this case, but accurate data is looking at the policy to tackle the race disparities. A principal tried to break up a dispute between two students this week, and one of the students started punching him. It shows an Oakley Freedom High School student punching the principal. Police say two students were arguing when amaro tried separating them, and he and the other student fell to the ground while the other student punched him multiple times. My primary concern is for the students, and i was not concerned about my safety but can i get these two students to a place where they will be safe. Police are recommending felony charges. The clock is ticking for big three automakers now staring down a neverbeforeseen work stoppage, and united workers are threatening a first ever simultaneous strike against all three companies. Brie jackson is live for us in washington. Brie, if this goes through it will affect the economy. Close to 150,000 workers from ford, chrysler are seeking a strike. Also, full pay for 32hour workweeks and better retirement pensions and improved health care and better protection for temporary employees, and a long list ensuring. One thing says its something everybody should care about. She says the more money in those workers pockets, the more money they will be able to spend, which will, no doubt, help the economy. The big three have enough inventory for 70 days, and after that we may see the cost of vehicles and parts go up. It will cause a shortage of cars. If somebody wants to buy a car it will be more difficult to do that. It will lower spending, consumer spending, as people tighten their belts. The big three already agreed to raise workers wages but say they need to save money to invest in the shift towards electric vehicles, and its important to note that yearly earnings have risen by 34 at ford and 50 at gm since 2019, and thats the last time the United Auto Workers and the big three entered contract negotiations. Yeah, the way everything is going in the economy, hopefully they can come to an agreement soon. Thank you. Oakland reaching 75 degrees. Was look at the 7day forecast at the bottom of the screen, theres not much of a change ahead, and it gets slightly cooler. We will see temperatures in the mid60s for daly city again, and downtown San Francisco reaching 68 degrees. We will be in the mid80s for santa rosa, and sonoma reaching 84 and 97 for ukiah. There will be daily showers and thunderstorms over the sierra this weekend, but we will also have cooler temperatures. We are keeping an eye on hurricane lee out there in the atlantic. This has been moving so slowly, and right now moving to the north at 12 miles per hour, and its a category 2 hurricane. It will be weakening as it continues to turn up high waves for much of the east coast, and then eventually make its way up closer to parts of maine and seeing it maybe moving further off towards the north and east. We will continue to watch that. As we take a look at concord for the next several days, the temperatures in the mid80s, and its going to be a slightly cooler weekend. If you are looking ahead to see when we are going to have a taste of fall, well, we do get a couple days of temperatures slightly warmer, but we are not seeing shifts in our temperatures over the next week. We start out with clouds and end up with sunshine and its going to be nice as we head into the weekend. San francisco is going to see more of those temperatures in the 60s with more clouds and fog.
