Breaking news to tell you about. A hostage situation unfolding as we speak inside of a Radisson Hotel in west africa. Right now, we know that three people are dead, dozens still trapped inside by several gunmen. Today in the bay kris sanchez following the situation all morning long. Kris, right now special forces are going floor to floor in mali trying to free some of those hostages. About 80 of them are now free, as you mentioned. Three people we can confirm did not survive the attack and there may be more. The malian army is inside that hotel and now we know that in the last hour, france agreed to send 50 elite fighters to ali in the first images out of bamako, mali. Head under to the street. We know the military was trying to get them to safety. We saw guests running and soldiers in the hotel lobby in this video, as well. Now, the malian Army Commander said ten gunmen stormed that hotel with grenades yelling god is great. He also reports that as the commander for mali that one hostage was released by the gunman after citing verses of the koran. This is a map of the area were talking about and we know that france has experience in mali for most of 2012. The capitol city bamako was occupied with islamic fighters and some with links to al qaeda. The frenchled military operation drove them out just last year. Now the Radisson Blu Hotel known to be used by diplomats and air france crews and their website reads were extremely concerned about the situation in mali and for the safety of our guests and employees and our hotel, were in contact with authorities there. They say 170 people were inside that hotel. Now, u. S. Embassy staff and u. S. Citizens in bamako have been told to shelter in place. Let them know they are okay and we should mention that back in august the embassy did issue a security message warning of a heightened Security Risk outside bamako city. Now, back to the hotel three people, again, are confirmed dead and there could be more. 80 of the 170 guests and staff have according to the malian army. That means the fate of nearly 100 other people may be unknown. A discrepancy between what the hotel is reporting and what the military is reporting. But we can all agree that with three people dead and many dozens of people still being held hostage, the situation is still involved. Again, we should mention that the french president has his hands full in france, but he has committed to help in mali and certainly french troops have been there for quite some time. Sam and laura. We now know person is dead following an intense hourlong standoff at a motel not far from the oakland coliseum. Today in the bay Stephanie Chuang is live at Oakland Police headquarters this morning and police are not saying much about the investigation. We saw a coroners van leave that scene just a few hours ago. We did. We dont have the confirmation of who died, although people at both the Oakland Police department and Alameda County Coroners Bureau said its believed to be that of a homicide suspect who barricaded himself inside a room after firing at officers. This was at the motel 6 near haggenburger and 880 where there was the standoff situation that began yesterday and led into the midnight hours. Negotiators were there trying to convince the suspect to leave the building. The focus mainly on the second floor. Our camera spotted a coroners van in the Motel Parking Lot indicating someone died. Again, believed to be a homicide suspect. Who sources say was jason al alexandener brown. Investigators believe brown and a man who still unidentified shot two men at a cvs parking lot on first street in livermore. This was back on october 24th killing one man and severely wounding the other. Brown also wanted in connection with killing in both sacramento and fresno. We can also tell you that there is no traffic impacts any more since the scene is clear. Happening San Francisco mayor ed lee scheduled to hold a News Conference later this morning to discuss which sent 20 people to the hospital. As we reported yesterday, maintenance reports revealed that that box is not registered but the California Public Utilities Commission as required by state law. A mandatory safety inspection, that never happened either. Doctors now say the man brutally beaten by Alameda County Sheriff Deputies may not be able to use one of his arms, again. Deputies hit him with his busome 30 times last week in a San Francisco alley. It was captured on the Surveillance Video. Doctors ended up putting metal rods and plates into his arm. Now according to authorities he rammed two squad cars in san lendro and led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle before they arrested him in this alley. He remains hospitalized. The deputies are on paid administrative leave. The search right now is on for a man who police say broke into a home in hercules in the middle of the day. This is Surveillance Video of him running through the house which the homeowner was able to monitor from his cell phone while he was at work. They arrived after an alarm alerted them to the burglary. We had High Pressure just through the west of us blocking these cold fronts, but that will be weakening by early next week lowing for this cold front to move in. That looks to bring us some rain betuesday and wednesday. And that could impact holiday. And then behind that, the big story will be these very chilly temperature moving in and this is what we can expect thanksgiving morning. Lets look at the map and the bay bridge toll plaza because folks held up here are providing some benefit at the toll plaza and these folks coming a off of 580 and right now held up a little bit off the mini maze and smooth drive off the 880 interchange, as well.
