Area. Its certainly soggy out there. Theres the radar. Look at all that green out there. Its coming down. You would not want to be in one of those trucks out there. Heres a live look from the north bay where there is already some flooding being reported. Our pete suratos is out there. Thanks for joining us. Im laura garciacannon. And im sam brock. We look for the micropockets of rain wering right now. Kari . Were left with the standing water as you head out for work or school this morning. We continue to see some lighter showers as we go through the day, looking at a few more breaks as we get a little bit of a chance to dry out here. But still rain moving through parts of the north bay as well as the peninsula and were seeing showers from Half Moon Bay over to 280. We have it parked down san bruno mountain. Were getting a little bit more clearing, but we do still have the concern of some flooding in spots like corrigan creek and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Temperaturewise were feeling much warmer air as that moisture moves in. Ill have a closer look at what we can expect as we go through the day. Lets see whats happening on the roadways. Weve seen several accidents this morning. Look at this map. Wherever you see the arrows or little triangles, thats where were seeing the heaviest of the traffic. Right now along 880, there were pro accidents that happened. A vehicle may be facing the wrong way the southbound side. Also along 680 at stone ridge backing up from dublin down to oak tree. Take extra time out on the road. And earlier we were talking about the southbound flooding at Caesar Chavez street. The bay bridge metering lights are on so we may start seeing some more backup along that area. Thank you very much. We have learned that within the last couple of hours, a Flash Flood Warning has gone into effect and is, extended. Reporter crews are just about done clearing a tree that fell around idlewise drive. We also have a Flash Flood Warning in effect through 6 45 this morning. That manse there could be a danger of rock slides and mud slides. That includes the area of the loma fire and and the fire to our south. So if you are driving in the Santa Cruz Mountains, do make sure to give yourself a safe following distance so that you have time to stop because even though this tree is big, it is very hard to see in the dark. The rocks on the roadway are hard to see as well. Kari hall says this area could get up to 8 inches of rain this weekend. You have to be careful out there. The roads are treacherous out there this morning. New video shot at about 4 00 this morning showing the dangerous highways, a lot of water pooling on the side of the roadways. There are several flooded areas mostly along 101 and 280. And a visual reminder to be extra careful as they drive through the messy weather. Rain and slick roads caused a fourcar crash on interstate 280. No injuries to report. That was the good news. But a small fuel spill one of the cars did force brief lane closures. Another condition were tracking this morning is the wind and that combined with the rain brought down a tree overnight. Thats right. Pete suratos went to show us some of the damage left behind there. Reporter im to show you guys this tree down here at the corner of sacramento and laguna in San Francisco. We have the tree that fell down around 9 30 p. M. On top of a car in the area and remarkably, guys, there was no damage to the car. As far as what caused this to happen, we dont know if this is weather related. We had the storms hitting pretty hard working overnight. Crews are going to have to move this thing out of the way. We can report there were no injuries as a result of this tree falling down. Pete in San Francisco, thank you. Lets go north where the rain is continuing. People are keeping a very close eye on the selma creek, which has a history of flooding and erosions. Crews spent the day installing flood gates and putting sandbags down. Rossvalley highs cameras are keeping an eye on it this morning. The sevenmonth wait is apparently over in oakland. Today the mayor is expected to introduce the citys next police chief. Shaft will make history by choosing shaft as the next police chief. She is supposed to be meeting this morning with council members. Our bob redell is covering the latest reports. Groped while sleeping and then burglarized. Thats what police said a man on the peninsula did to his victims before they tracked him down and a Police Arrested the suspect minutes after an alleged assault. Police consider vazquez a sexual predator and fear his victim list could be a lot longer. The warriors are a lot closer to having a new home in San Francisco. The Team Announced it will break ground on what will be known as the chase center in 2017. It is expected to be finished in time for the 2019 2020 season. The construction has been fought by those with concerns over traffic around the center. Heres some animation video that was released last summer showing what a rapid bus line on geary street would look like. Thats a 300 million project. San franciscos county Transportation Authority is meeting on thursday to vote on the final Environmental Impact report. Everything is so clean in that animation video. 6 08 right now. What a sight behind you now, the beautiful bay bring, kari hall. It is under a wind advisory so. We get a chance to dry out for tomorrow. But there could be more feet of snow in the sierra and heavy rain in the bay area that could raise our flood potential as we go into the next several days. As we look at the radar now, this storm kind of winding down. Some more light rain in the forecast today. Ill talk more about that coming up in about ten minutes. Hows the look on the roadways . Well, the metering lights are on and yuck. Pair that up with wet, slick roadways and were looking to a difficult commute. Lets take a look at the maps right now. Were seeing a lot of activity butch rig but right now the biggest backup seems to be along 880 at industry parkway. There wasnt just the one accident, there was actually two unrelated accidents from the southbound all the way down whipple road, another reported there as well. Back to you. Thank you very much. Up next, new developments in the deadly vallejo pawn shot shooting. The Person Police are looking for right now. Plus the Affordable Care act heats up on capitol hill. How the gop is fighting back. It is day two for the new congress and a new bill has already been introduced to get rid of the Affordable Care act. That didnt take too long. Today president obama and Vice President elect pence will be on capitol hill. It will be long, protracted and without a clear ending. Exactly. As clear as it is here on capitol hill today, which is not very clear, as can you tell behind me. You cant even see the capitol. Kind of foggy, too, in terms of what republicans want to do after they replace obama care. A Senate Debate begins on health care today behind closed doors this morning. President obama, the democrats, trying to save the Affordable Care act and Vice President elect mike pence will focus on repealing and replacing obama care. Reporter meeting with republicans determined to get rid it. We hear you. We will do right by you, and we will deliver. Reporter but with no replacement, the game plan may be repeal and delay. It is not acceptable to repeal the law, throw our Health Care System into chaos and then leave the hard work for another day. Reporter some republicans are under pressure from constituents back home who could lose their ability to see a doctor. Its not surprising to me that does leave republicans queasy. Reporter president elect trump said he wants to keep protections like covering preexisting conditions and allowing young adults to remain on their parents insurance. Hes committed to keeping those pieces his advisers say are working. Reporter at risk, government subsidies for lowincome americans who cannot afford rising premiums. Now, keep in mind if the premiums go away or if the subsidies to help pay for the premiums go away, thats millions of people who may not be able to afford this insurance and concern is that Insurance Companies could just walk out and not cover the rest. What the Insurance Companies do is the wild card in the scenario. Tracey potts, thank you for that report. And a followup right now on a deadly vallejo pawn shop shooting. The owner of the pawn shot, 49yearold timothy polt, was killed. Another employee was also injured and a dog was killed. Police say two men were involved in that robbery. Theyre looking for potential witnesses. Police say the person who did this was driving a light colored 2010 or newer jeep patriot. Fishermen at Half Moon Bay says a quarter doesnt seem like much but it is a significant amount of money when thousands of pounds of crab are involved. First we thought being able to get the crabs out of the water was the problem. Now the price is an issue. Always a debate there. No debating the rain coming down in the bay today. Grab that umbrella.
