A federal judge in seattle yesterday issued a temporary restraining order calling the ban unconstitutional because its directed at the muslim religion. For now the judges ruling effectively overturns the ban from travelers of muslim from seven predominantly muslim countries. This morning the white house is preparing to fight back saying the department of justice will file an emergency stay of the judges restraining order. We dont know when that will happen. Meantime, previously banned travelers with valid visas are being allowed to board planes heading to the u. S. Among them, this girl, a 12yearold, the yemeni girl stuck in gentlemdjibouti waitin join her family here in San Francisco. Even with yesterdays court ruling there is still concern about that travel ban. Stanford student hadil is hoping the ban is lifted for good. A 21yearold plaintiff in a federal lawsuit filed yesterday in San Francisco by the aclu. The aclu argues that the travel ban is unconstitutional. If the restrictions are not lifted permanently, she wont be able to go home to yemen and see her husband and family while she is here pursuing her education. In other news this morning, Police Detectives are confirming the cause of death for a berkeley couple found dead in their apartment last month. Roger and valerie moreash died from acute Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Their two cats also found dead in their apartment. Tenants in the building tell us theyre now concerned about where the Carbon Monoxide poisoning originated saying police told them they dont know the source. The problem is that we are in the first line of hazard and were not being informed of whats going on. Neighbors tell us the couple worked from home and that they often smelled fumes coming from a generator inside the couples apartment. A disturbing note found on a car in San Francisco is now being investigated as a hate crime. Weve blurred the words due to the extremely offensive language. Police say the note was grlued o a car parked at 23rd street. The owner found it thursday morning and police say that victim doesnt want to talk and police dont want to release anymore information until they investigate further. Now to what police are calling one of the largest seizures of opium poppy pods in california history. And it happened right here in the heart of silicon valley. Reporter one neighbor who did not want to be identified was not surprised when Mountain View Police Arrested this 34yearold and his had 45yearold wife after police say they found 50 pounds of opium poppy pods and 30,000 in cash in the couples apartment. Police found nearly 4000 pounds of opium poppy pods in a nearby storage locker way street value of 400,000. The shipment came from great britain. Reporter crews hired by Santa Cruz County are scrambling to shore up and protect whats left of bear creek road near boulder creek. The road is too important for residents to shut down, so a new traffic light regulates traffic on the one repaining lane. Workers say it will take weeks to make significant repairs. Travis tree professionals working around the clock lifting huge fallen trees off properties and many times off of homes and the looming storm has crews nervous. Right now its pretty scary. Especially if you live in San Francisco, on the peninsula and for the north bay as well. South bay right now, 52 degrees. Were seeing a mix of clouds and sunshine, but for the peninsula overcast skies are dominating the trivalley also in the 50s, and San Francisco right now at 54 degrees. East baste y 54, and north bay, degrees. Warming up just a bit, however, will keep the dark cloudy skies, because look at the Doppler Radar right now. A few spotty showers are pushing through the area right now. But it is expected to start tapering off by midmorning. Over the next half hour, a couple hours really were expecting to see periods of on and off again rain. Right now the north bay is seeing rain. San francisco, Half Moon Bay as well along the peninsula and areas near the Santa Cruz Mountains were also seeing showers. Now, we will expect to see these showers push through to the richmond area within the next half hour. Vallejo also expecting to see showers and los gatos, expect rain within the next 20 minutes as well. San jose right now, were in a bit of that rain shadow the next half hour, but were still going to be in the path of another storm that is expected the to arrive tomorrow. Now, todays forecast, heres a quick check what we can expect. Along the coast, keeping cloudy overcast skies and along the bay, a mix of sun and clouds inland also expected to see some sunshine. San jose a high of 62. Half moon bay, high of 57. Palo alto staying in the 50s at 59. Heres a quick check of what we can expect with that arrival of a new storm system by sunday night. So as of now it looks like its going to be making its way in as early as 5 00. Now, as far as rain totals, its not going to be anything over two inches. Anywhere between a half inch to just over an inch in areas near the north bay, like santa rosa as well. An hourbyhour look, the next couple hours. By 7 00 a. M. , right now seeing a couple of those showers, but fastforward through 1 00 and we keep those dark overcast skies for the majority of the bay area. Napa could still see, a few lingering showers. But by about 2 00, the majority of showers taper off to the east leaving behind a majority of cloud cover and overcast and which means by 12 30, if you have an Early Morning commute have to drive late at night, expect to see low visibility on the roads and still expecting also to keep the Road Conditions as well. It slick road condition. Fastforward through sunday. Look at this. By 4 00 we see that third storm, rather, pushing its way in. A new storm. From the coast all the way through, fastforward through 7 00. Santa rosa, napa, San Francisco, Santa Cruz Mountains, expect periods to moderate to heavy rainfall. Continue through until about 10 00, elrchin and into the overnight hours into monday.
