A neighborhood put on notice about its tap water after someone tampered with a nearby storage tank. Garden neighborhood given two cases of water for the night. Authorities say vandals cut the locks and walked into a storage area. They spent the day distributing flyers to residents warning them about the water. Today in the bays tom jensen went to Castro Valley high school where students are shocked and disappointed. Now seniors, just a week from graduation theyre concerned about the reputation of Castro Valley high school and about the feelings of their friends and classmates hurt by racist graffiti targeting africanamerican students. Reporter we recently told you about this one rescue group with cat cafe is largely responsible for cutting the euthanasia rate at Oakland Animal Services by more than half. The director says it has a lot to do with their dedicated staff. Just how dedicated . Well, just watch. This man is not a psychic. What he is, is volunteer coordinator for cat town, an oaklandbased cat rescue group. So, no. No psychic ability for jay, yet this past weekend, jay had no trouble at all reading peoples mind. Yeah. People just think i was a little nuts Walking Around in a cat suit. Reporter we are pretty sure he was correct on that score. For 24 straight hours, from noon on sunday all the way through the night, until noon on monday, jay walked, and walked and walked around lake marek. 17 laps in all. Close to 60 miles, all wearing a cat suit. And as one group of men he met along the way as part of a fraternity association. I appreciated they thought i was still 19. So that was good. Ive gotten a lot of that. Yeah. So just some more hours. Reporter jay was walking to raise money for cat town. The nonprofit is participating in a competition with other rescue groups this week. The ones who raise the most money can earn thousands of bonus dollars. And cat town, thanks in part to jay, is well on its way to raising 60,000. The money will go to doubling in size its already incredibly popular storefront Adoption Center and cafe. Which is the reason why no matter how much jays feet hurt ow. Reporter and the answer was, a lot, he wasnt going to quit. Knowing that every step was a chance to possibly save a cat from the shelter, in the end totally worth it. This really hurts.
